(They are eight years old in this chapter)

Red's POV

It's late at night and the rain is poring down loudly outside, while I lie awake in my bedroom with my two brothers asleep I share the same room as Orange and Yellow, since there are so many of us Vacktor siblings. It's fine though really a Orange and Yellow aren't bad roommates. Orange is a bit talkative though and that's fine, but he mostly draws or builds stuff. While Yellow mostly plays with his stuffed animal or reads.

I start to slip into sleep as I hear a sound of thunder in the background.

Yellow's POV

I wake up to the sound of a crash outside. -thunder sound- What is that sound. I don't like it. I don't recall hearing something like that before. Then it goes again -thunder sound- . I try sitting still in my bed and going back to sleep, but I can't. I just keeping hearing these loud sounds and seeing flashes of light outside my window. I consider the idea of waking mom up, but she's been working a lot and needs to sleep. Maybe I could get Magenta she's always nice to me. Well she's pretty much nice to everyone, but that might wake Pink up and she'd get pretty upset. She might even call me a baby for being um afraid I think, so I decide to just say here. Maybe just maybe it will go away. -thunder sound- Nope definitely still there. I sit in silence a few more moments trying to hide my self underneath my covers as I feel my tail wrap itself around my legs. (Yes Yellow has a tail too) -thunder sound- That's it I can't take it anymore.

I grab my blanket and my stuffed penguin Pablo and slowly walk out of my bed to go over to Red's bed. I uh really hope he isn't asleep. I don't like this feeling or this sound. I mean I uh have felt like this before, but um um not like this. I tiptoe over to Red and gently nudge him on the shoulder. Please don't yell at me.

"Wuhhh?" He says silently barely opening his eyes.

"Red please help me it's the lightning!" I tell him.

Red looks at me for a few moments his eyes sleepy then we both hear another crash -thunder sound- and that wakes him right up.

"Red." I tell him in a soft and quiet voice clutching my blanket.

"Yellow are you.. scared of the lightning?" He asks me. He doesn't sound mad so I just silently nod my head.

"Yellow come here." He says. I sit down on the bed shaking flinching when I hear another crash. Red pulls me closer to him wrapping me in a hug. I didn't think Red really liked hugs.

"Lightnings not scary come on let's go outside ill show." He says taking my hand.

"Red are we allowed to go outside at night like this?" I ask him.

"Yes. Well. You need to get over your fear besides mom won't know." He tells me trying to reassure me. We walk down stairs with Red still holding my hand as I keep flinching every time I hear thunder. He must've noticed that I'm still shaking because he tells me. "Don't be afraid Yellow I've got you." It's really comforting hearing that from Red. Once we get to the end of the stairs Red takes me to the back door and uses his other hand the one that he isn't using to hold mine and opens up the door. We slowly start to make or way to the backyard when another flash of light happens.

"Ahh! Red!" I scream burying my face in his onesie.

"Hey. Hey calm down lightning really cool. I know some cool facts about it." He tells me *striking* my interest.

"What?" I ask timidly.

"Well lightning starts in cumulonimbus clouds or thunderheads or that you can't have lightning without thunder because thunder is the sound caused by lightning. Light actually travels faster than sound so that's why lightning is seen before you hear the sound of thunder. Did you know that the study of lightning is called fulminology. Oh or that a general bolt of lightning isn't any bigger than a quarter of a dollar, but it looks bigger because of its light." Red says with a big smile. I'm not really surprised that he knows so much about lightning and doesn't seem to be bothered by it. I mean he makes sense to me that he likes lightning since his onesie has a lightning bolt on it, and mom based them off of our personalities. And I think his idea of telling me random facts about lightning helped me calm down a little bit.

"That's cool." I tell him feeling a little bit better.

Me and Red stand there for a bit listening to the sounds of thunder and watching light in the distance. It's actually really pretty. And it's nice to just to stand outside with my brother. Along with the sounds of thunder we listen to the sounds of crickets chirping its a nice sound you know when they aren't in your bedroom at night making loud chirps. I stand still letting the light breeze fall on my face and hearing the sound of wind rustling the leaves. My brother sensing that I've finally relaxed a bit asks me. "Want to walk out more?"

"Sure." I say sounding a bit better. The two of us start walking out onto the grass in the backyard to get a better view of the lightning. Red stops to wipe some grass on his foot while I continue to walk forward. I keep walking till I'm out in the middle of the backyard. Red's voice calls out to me and I turn back to look at him smiling.

"See I told you it isn't scary." Red says with a giant smile on his face. I start making a couple of silly faces at him to get him to laugh, but he doesn't seem to like them. His smile falls and turns into a face full of *shock* "Look out!" Red screeches. I turn to look at whatever's scaring Red and when I do lightning comes crashing right down striking me. My body starts to shake and I make some sort of strange noise. "01000001 01101000 00100000." And then everything goes black.

(Yellow basically just screamed "ah" in binary)

(Struck by the sun is going to be a completely different thing, since Yellow fears lightning, but loves the sun I figured they were two completely different "accidents")

(I also searched the web for cool lightning facts. I had to look a bit to find some that Yellow wouldn't deem scary)
