More origin of the Vacktors
Unfortunately, the old narrator was captured and is unable to do her job today. So I will be filling in today in hopes that she will come back to the story soon. I also do hope my friends that I do not get captured by whatever that was in Dr. Vacktor's lab. Anyways, on to the story.
Third person POV
Dr. Vacktor arrived late to her parents house last night with eight new bundles of joy. Her parents took the news of the children pretty well. At first they were hesitant what with their grandchildren being test tube babies without a father and their obscure features, but they promised to help and love them like any grandparents would. Her siblings also agreed to help watch the kids as well.
She had to leave early in the morning for work especially since someone may have broken into her lab last night thought she really didn't want to heaving a sleepless night of helping watch, feed, and take care of her children drained a person's energy. She made a quick trip to the bathroom revealed that she looked like a complete mess. There were dark bags underneath her eyes that made her look even older than she was. She was so tired she didn't even bother putting make up. She didn't have enough strength to do much and really hoped parenthood wouldn't be this bad. Before leaving she had a bagel with cream cheese and a crappy cup of coffee for breakfast. She walked over to the babies sitting inside the crib and kissed them goodbye before heading out the door for work.
When she got to work one of collages approached her stepping in the door.
"Good morning." A man in his mid thirties said with a charming smile.
"Morning Dr. Jones." Miss Vacktor said in annoyance. And no she wasn't going to call him by his first name.
"You don't sound too happy to see me today. What's wrong?" He asked with fake sympathy.
"You." She replied dryly.
"Me?" He asked.
"Yes. And if ask me out again I'll be forced to ask you to leave my labatroy." She said.
If he asked her out again this would be the sixth time he'd been rejected this week. Dr. Jones was a bit of a flirt and a self proclaimed ladies man with a narcissistic problem. He cared little about other people and only wanted to align himself with successful people so he would look good or to use people. He of course made himself look sweet and caring after she and her husband got a divorce. He showed up at her doorstep the next offering himself as a shoulder to cry on and then the next minute he tried swooping her off her feet in hopes of romancing her into giving him some of her work to claim as his own.
Of course she saw through his act and called him out of it. Surprisingly he actually started liking her, and continued to flirt with her, much to Dr. Vacktor's dismay.
"Oh come on. You haven't even given me a chance. Besides the girls in the geology department are dying to go on a date with me." He said with exasperation.
"The answer is no." She said walking over to her work station ignoring him.
He sighed. "Fine, but I do hope you have your presentation all planned for this afternoon." He said with a devious grin on his face.
Oh darn it! She had been so caught up with the babies she almost forgot completely about her project. She need to hurry up.
"Excuse me I've got to go." She said rushing off leaving Dr. Jones there.
She rushed into Dr. Miller's lab frantically looking around for him. Dr. Miller was a specialist in robotics and she desperately needed to speak with him.
"Hello?" She said. Before a small child with frosting all over his face bumped into her.
"Hi. Dr. Vacktor it's so nice to see you again. My name's Tommy in case you forgot and I'm reallyhappytoseeyouagainitsbeensoooolong." He said with a giant grin on his face as he started dancing all around.
"Tommy. Come over here you little scamp." Dr. Miller said as his son ran over to him jumping up down wanting his dad to pick him up.
"Ahh Iridessa. What brings you to my office." He said holding his son.
"Well I needed a bit of help and I didn't expect to see your son here again." She said.
"Well his mom was sick today and I promised Debbie that I wouldn't let him paint the lab rats orange again." He said.
Poor lab rats. Tommy had a sugar problem and would often act crazy whenever he got it in his system. She really hoped her children would never become that hyper.
"Anyways I was wondering if you'd be able to help look over the finishing touches on my project since your a robotics expert. The past few weeks have been crazy and I was just hoping you'd be willing to help me." She said. She was great at many things but robotics wasn't her strongest suit. Having an expert opinion might really help.
"Of course, but first I'll need to take Tommy to Dr. Lee so he can be watched." He said.
Timeskip
Iridessa and Dr. Miller arrived in one of the back rooms of her lab.
"So what is that you need help with?" He asked.
"This." She said pulling a cover off of a small body.
In front of them was a small child with blondish hair and amber like eyes layer there. No emotion on his face or in his eyes. In fact he didn't even move.
"A baby?" He asked with confusion looking at it.
"Well. No. I mean yes. I mean sort of." She said trying to explain herself.
"He is a baby, but he's actually a robot." She said trying to not sound crazy.
He just looked at her.
"Robots are the future. People can program them to do certain task that are too dangerous for a human to do. And I thought that maybe I could create a robot that could grow and change. That wouldn't necessarily need to be programmed. A robot that could learn to process and feel emotions. And maybe someday reach a human level of sentience. The possibilities with one are endless. If this works I'll get a huge promotion! So what you think?" Iridesss asked excitedly.
Dr. Miller was dumbstruck. It was one of the most amazing creations he'd ever see anyone create. And if she could actually build a robot like that it would be a huge scientific break through.
"Does? Does it work?" He asked.
"That's the problem I can't get him to "wake up." He just sits there motionless." She said.
"Maybe you need to try a different kind of batteries like Triple C's or solar power might "wake him up" and help with energy levels." Dr. Miller suggested.
"No I think solar power might cause him to be unstable, but I do suppose some other batteries might work." She said replacing the batteries with two Triple C's. (The author knows nothing about batteries)
She closed his battery panel and his eyes started moving around the room.
(The Vacktor's mom's name is Iridessa which means resembling a rainbow)
(Yellow did talk about being built and being fixed, as well as being a child) (at times he does appear to glitch and shut down) (and people do think he's a robot)
(Sorry these are kinda long and boring. I just need to get the how they were created part down before we can start going into the story more)
