A sad little chapter
The Vacktors go to kindergarten
(Poor little Blue) (warning if you like Blue and the Vacktors in general being happy you probably won't like this chapter)
Red's POV
Today was going to be our first day of school. Mom said that we didn't go to preschool because we weren't ready for it or something like that and that kids could be mean. (Red is too young to understand). I don't get why she'd be worried about kids being mean we're tough. Well at least I am. (Oh Red so overly confident)
Anyways we're just sitting on the couches waiting for mom to take us to school. Yellow seems excited to go to school I can tell because his tail is wagging back and forth like a dogs tail and Blue talked about wanting to make friends. It's kinda weird mom never really let us go outside and hang out with other kids. We only really visit close family friends and family so we font hang around with many kids our age.
Gray, Green, and Purple seem pretty bored waiting around for mom. Orange is sitting on the floor drawing some flowers. He's pretty artistic and hopes to become an artist someday. Pink and Magenta are playing with one of their baby dolls pretending to be its mom or something. Why I don't but girls are kinda weird.
Just then mom walks into the room and Magenta rushes up to her.
"Mom why doesn't my doll have a tail?" She asks in her sweet little kid voice. Why does it even matter if her doll has a tail or not it's just a doll. It's not even real.
"Well Magenta not everyone has a tail." Mom says. I think she's trying to hide something from us.
"But then why don't they make some dolls with tails?" She asks.
"I don't know, but there's been something I've been wanting to tell you all." She says. So she has been keeping something from us. Is it about our dad? She's never mentioned him before.
No ones POV
"What is it?" Blue asks with sweet innocent eyes hopping down from the sofa.
"Well not everyone is like you. Some people are different, and that doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with you or them." She says.
"I know that people are different we're not clones." Yellow says with a small giggle.
"Well you see not everyone looks like you some people don't have tails or different colored hair." She speaks softly trying to erasure the kids.
Green, Gray and Red listen closely while Orange, Blue and Magenta look slightly confused. Yellow and Pink looked like they were trying to process the information. Purple was observing the conversation from the side.
"Well we know that mom." Yellow said.
"I know, but I just think it's best if you keep your abilities to yourselves while at school." She says.
"Why?" Green asks demanding to know.
"Well see... uh certain kids might be um...
"Jealous?" Blue asks. (Blue is so innocent)
"Yes. Jealous. Some kids might be jealous because you can do things that other kids can't always do." She said with a nervous smile. Green and Purple seemed to catch on to her hiding something.
"And I think it may be best if you hide your tails." She said.
"Why would our tails make them jealous?" Green asked.
"Well some kids might think they are um cool and only like you because of them." Iridessa said.
Green and Purple did not really seem to believe her.
The kids then wrapped their tails around their waists so they wouldn't be visible. The kids didn't exactly lime doing this because it wasn't very comfortable, but their mom feared the kids at school would be mean to them. Hybrid like creatures weren't exactly a thing and since the kids were lab experiments she feared they might get taken away if they acted too abnormal.
She pilled the kids into her van and drove them to school the whole way there she was nervous and Blue took notice. "Don't worry we're not nervous." Blue said. Blue mistook his mom's facial expression and thought that his mom was scared that the kids would be afraid to go school.
"I know Blue I know." She said.
She dropped them off in front of the classroom door and pulled them all into a hug. "No matter what happens there is nothing wrong with any of you understand?" She said.
"I know that we're awesome." Yellow said.
"Bye stay safe." She said and sadly turned to leave.
"What was that about?" Yellow asked.
"I don't know, but I hope they have some paint here." Orange said.
The nine of them walked inside the classroom. They saw a bunch of kids playing in the room. Some girls playing "house" in a toy kitchen. A couple of kids playing with puzzles. A few little boys playing with toy race cars.
"They have toys here cool." Blue said happily.
One little boy was walking over to to sink and noticed the Vacktors. He might a strange look of disgust at them. "Are you aliens?" He asked rudely. The little Vacktors looked around the room and noticed that no one else looked like them. They seemed to be the only kids with unique colors for eyes, hair, and skin.
"No." Gray said bluntly. Gray was beginning to understand why mom was so hesitant to let them go to school. Gray certainty did not like the way this boy was talking.
Some other kids came over. "If you aren't aliens then why are you green, blue and purple? Only aliens look like that." A kid said.
"Why are your eyes orange?" Another kid asked them.
"I thought pink eyes was a disease." A girl said staring at Pink and Magenta while backing away. Magenta started to look scared. Pink looked like she wanted to cry.
"Isn't dying your hair against the rules?" A kid asked.
One of the kids grabbed Blue's arms examine it. "Are you sick?" He asked.
"Uh no." Blue said hanging his head down.
"Eww don't touch it." A boy shrieked in fear.
Purple couldn't take it anymore those kids were crossing a line and he got really mad at that last comment and swung his arm to hit the boy who said that about Blue. The boy started crying and screamed. "They're monsters!" Purple didn't even care if he was going to get in trouble with the teacher or his mom. These people were horrible and Purple certainly disliked all of them.
"Why are you all freaks?" Another boy asked fearful of them. At this point Blue was crying as he grabbed on to Magenta's arm. Magenta was always the most understanding one. Purple got upset with the kids making Blue cry and made a dinosaur like roar opening his mouth wide enough to let the kids see his sharp dinosaur like teeth.
"AHHH!" The kids started running away crying.
Purple turned back to look at Blue who was clinging on to Magenta and sobbing. Magenta had a few tears roll down her eyes. Gray was annoyed. Green pretending like it didn't bother him. Pink was sort of crying, and Yellow was staring at the distance making strange sounds. "Uh.... uh...um." Yellow said. This stuff had happened to Yellow a few times he start to freeze up and repeat the words "uh" and "um" for awhile mom usually helped him snap out of whatever was chasing him to respond that way. It always looked slightly robotic to the other Vacktors but they didn't think much of it. Red however didn't seem to have any kids think he was odd. Probably because Red didn't have any peculiar noticeable features.
The teacher didn't eventually come over to see what the problem was, but Blue refused to talk to her. Blue started realizing that he wasn't human and became afraid of the teacher so he just and Magenta just hung on to each other crying. The teacher tried talking to Yellow but he jut kept staring into the distance non responsive he didn't even move. The teacher taught he was probably too shocked to say anything.
She did however address Purple. "Purple I think if you and the other kids who were." She struggle for the right word. "Unkind apologize to each other you might be able to become friends." She said trying to be kind and sympathetic. Their mother met with the teacher explaining that her children were born with a rare genetic disorder that caused mutations in a person's pigment resulting in unnatural eye, hair, and skin colors. And that the kids were not contagious in any way. And the teacher of course felt bad for the little kids even though they did look a little odd.
"They made my siblings cry and they grabbed on to Blue." Purple said bitterly.
"I know, but you can't hit other kids sweetie." She said. She wanted to place a hand to help comfort Purple but she thought it might not be the best decision.
Purple made a small growling sound. "Fine." He said reluctantly. The teacher thought it was odd that Purple could make such a roar like sound at the other kids, but decided to not question it.
He walked over to the other kids who looked scared.
"I'm sorry I hit you and roared at you." He said refusing to look at the other kids.
"Sorry." Some of the kids said without making eye contact with Purple.
Neither of the groups were really sorry about their actions and the teacher knew this, but there wasn't much she could really do. She tried giving the kids a listen on being nice to each other, and accosting differences but none of them seemed receptive and during the lesson and it would be hard to explain to a bunch of five years olds what a genetic disorder was. During her talk some of the kids made grotesque looks at the Vacktor children. The Vacktors of course stayed in the back on the room sitting in a tight circle by themselves.
At recess all nine Vacktor kids stayed inside close to each other. Blue of course was still silently crying.
When the Vacktors mom came to pick them up from school her heart sank. She had never seen any little kids look so heart broken or traumatized. Especially little Blue he was really looking forward to making friends, but now he was hiding in the corner crying into Magenta's sleeve. Yellow remained unresponsive and started to shake. She picked him up and carefully and secretly adjusted something in Yellow's neck out of the view of them others before setting him back down. Yellow had a sad little look on his tiny face.
The teacher briefly spoke to the mom about everything that happened today.
She buckled them up in the car and started driving away from school.
Red decided to break the silence. "What was dad like?" He asked curiously in his voice.
"I what?" Iridessa asked in confusion and shock. If anything she didn't expect him to say that.
"Red please it's best if we don't talk about things like these." She said.
"I just want to know if he.. if... he was like us." Red said.
"Red lets not talk about this right now." She said getting slightly annoyed. The kids were too young to know the truth she thought to herself, and now is not the right time.
"You never answer any of questions." Green said speaking up.
"I know, but right now I need to focus on getting you all home and figuring out how to calm Blue and Magenta down." She said.
"We're not humans are we?" Blue asked. It was the first time he spoke since this morning.
"Blue." She said.
"Are we?" He asked his tears stopping for a second. Blue was finally putting things together and surprisingly was brave enough to ask a question that was on everyone's minds.
"Blue this isn't important right now and oh look we're home." She said gratefully for a distraction to prevent her from answering his question.
After everyone got out the car and inside the house the Vacktor kids went inside Red, Orange, and Yellow's room.
"I don't think we're humans either Blue." Red said taking charge of this "family meeting"
"I always had some suspicions." Purple said.
"Really? You guys thought so as well." Orange said.
"Yep." Green said flatly.
"What about our dad maybe this is why we're like this?" Gray said gesturing to everyone's tails.
"You might be right maybe that's why mom always hates it when we talk about him." Pink said.
"Do you think he left us?" Orange asked.
"I always thought we were adopted." Yellow added.
"I guess that might be it." Green said. Magenta remained quiet during the whole discussion.
"I don't know what she won't tell us, but I'm gonna find out whose with me?" Red asked, and they all agreed.
The Vacktor kids knew one thing that their mom was hiding something from them and they wanted to know what that was.
(This will tie into things later) (Like why Purple is described as cynical rage) (Why Green acts so indifferent and why Blue is so sad of course this isn't the ONLY reason why they'll act that way)
(Did you know that I always thought kindergarten was kindergarden?)
(Also writing from character POV's is kinda hard)
