; a perfect storm, pt. 1

A/N: This chapter is gonna be Grey's Anatomy inspired. Some words might be incredibly out of your vocabulary, since I plan on making this as closely related to Grey's as possible.

Raph's POV:

"I heard about this badass professor in the Local News. She seemed invincible. Then, one day, she needed her gallbladder out. And the surgery killed her. Her platelets stopped clotting, she bled out on the table. Everything that could have gone wrong, did go wrong. Surgeons have a name for it. They call it a 'perfect storm'. Funny. I never would have expected it to happen to me."

Leo's voice erupted through the lair. His agonizing pain was clear, and his eyes glassy and bloodshot. I was paralyzed in shock, but I was more worried about all the possible outcomes this would mean. Since Donnie was a nerd, he knew how to perform basic surgical procedures, such as a hernia repair. It was like he had spent a year or two in med school.

"Leo, can you please tell me what hurts?" Donnie said, examining him like a veterinarian would examine a dog that was projectile vomiting. "MY FUCKING STOMACH." Leo blurted out, his voice breaking and all of his green-red-yellow tone shattering like a glass jar all over the place.

I ran out of Leo's room as fast as I could. God, it must be awful to be Leo right now, but I couldn't stand seeing him in pain. I had put Leo through enough pain but this was just over th- "Leo has appendicitis." Donnie said, putting a shoulder on my back, startling the shit out of me. "The hell does that mean?" I ask, already getting mad at Donnie for absolutely no coherent reason. "It means his appendix is infected, and I'm going to have to remove it."

I could feel how my eyes widened in disbelief. "Donnie, this is a human procedure. You can't do this! You're not qualified!" I say, pushing his arm off of my shoulder. "Raph, an appendectomy is a very simple procedure, really anyone cou-" I cut him off by walking away. Simply, just walking away. God, how could this happen to Leo? Out of all the people.. "Do whatever you want, Don. It's not my call, anyway." I say, storming into my room, slamming the door shut. I sighed, and I began to silently sob.
