Chapter 2
" The Virus Wars of 2022, yes I remember it well." I told little jack.
"Tell me please, I'd love to hear it." He begged me. The look of hope in his eyes got to me.
"Okay, kid." I said, pausing as the memories of my younger days came flooding back. I looked at him for a long moment.
"I remember when the world I knew went to shit.'
The kid immediately sat down on the porch swing, not just hearing my words but really listened to them.
"Everything was supposed to be fine after the world wide quarantine in 2020." I said leaning forward, taking a sip of the cold lemonade in front of me.
"Let me tell you kid, it was the furthest thing from the truth."
"What was the truth?' Jack asked me.
"The world went straight to hell; humanity it's hand basket."
"Was it after the war?'
"No that's what started the whole damn thing." I said as i shifted from right to left.
"It did?" He asked, fascination in his tone of how the world started over, not from a big apocalypse, but fear and paranoia.
"You really want to know what happened?" I asked gazing at the boy on my porch that spring afternoon.
"Yes sir."
"I t started with a virus, a deadly one. Then they put us under quarantine. Supposed ta be a month, maybe two...."
