"Yeah, Appa, you really don't need to worry about us. We're doing great in both our studies and life," Jin reassured, a playful grin spreading across his face.
"Now stop frowning or you'll get wrinkles, and Dad might just divorce you!" Jin chuckled, and Jeongguk couldn't help but silently laugh at the sight of their appa's cute pout.
It was hard to believe that someone like Namjoon, who could still pass for a youthful heartthrob, had four grown children. At the moment, all four brothers were video-calling their parents, who were currently in Alaska. Despite the distance, they never missed an opportunity to tease each other, their family dynamic as lively as ever.
Jin had taken it upon himself to answer the barrage of questions from their appa—questions about how they were doing, how their studies were going, whether they were maintaining proper hygiene, if they were eating healthy meals on time, and all the other motherly concerns that Namjoon always fussed over.
"No, you brat! He's never going to leave me, right hubby?" Namjoon asked, his tone mock-indignant as he sought reassurance from his husband, who was lounging with his head in Namjoon's lap, scrolling through his phone. Namjoon's fingers threaded gently through V's hair as he shot him a look with his best pair of puppy eyes.
"Jin, you're actually right," V responded, his voice filled with affection. "But I doubt even a younger person could compare to the beauty of your appa, wrinkles and all. Besides, he gave birth to four beautiful kids like you all—he's evergreen." His words were dripping with sincerity, making the children gag at his cheesy declaration, though deep down, they considered their parents' love to be the ideal to aspire to—an evergreen love.
Namjoon blushed beet red, his heart fluttering as if he were a schoolgirl who had just received a confession from her crush. Even after more than twenty-six years of marriage, V could still make Namjoon shy in a matter of seconds.
Jin and Jeongguk were seated comfortably on the sofa, while Taehyung had pulled up a chair from the dining table to sit behind them. Meanwhile, Jimin was trying to peek in, desperate to get a look at the screen.
"Guys, let me talk to Appa too!"
Jimin whined, stomping his feet like a toddler. His brothers, however, took no notice of him, continuing their conversation with their parents, laughing and chatting as if Jimin didn't exist. Finally he turned to his final ally, his beloved one, making sure to use his puppy eyes for better effect.
"Tae... do something! Don't I deserve a seat and a normal conversation with our parents?" Jimin sulked, his pout growing deeper.
"Oh, Jimin-ah! Come here," Jeongguk called out to him, motioning for him to come closer.
Jimin's face lit up with hope, and he was about to happily join them when—Taehyung swiftly grabbed Jimin by his curvy hips, pulling him onto his lap with a mischievous grin. Jimin was caught off guard, his eyes wide in surprise as Taehyung secured his position by wrapping his arms snugly around Jimin's waist, holding him like a child. Despite the initial shock, Jimin couldn't help but find the situation funny.
The way Taehyung held him so possessively made it look like a boyfriend sitting with his partner, and Jimin giggled at the thought. It was a hilarious thought to be honest.
"Hey, Jimin-ah, baby, where were you?" Namjoon questioned, his eyes softening as he noticed Jimin's flustered expression.
"Appa~ I was here the whole time, but these meanies wouldn't let me see you! But Taehyungie gave me some space," Jimin complained playfully. "Anyway, I miss you so much! It's been a whole month since I've eaten your cooking. Come back soon!"
Jimin's voice was filled with longing as he spoke, and Taehyung, still holding him, began to play with Jimin's permed hair, twisting the strands around his fingers.
"Aish! Why wouldn't you let my baby talk to me, huh?" Namjoon scolded the others lightly before turning his attention back to Jimin. "And baby, I miss you too, but are you sure you miss me, or is it my cooking you miss more? My munchkin, you're getting so slim! Are you eating well?"
"See, this is why we shouldn't let Jimin talk to Appa, or Appa will forget he has other sons too. My MuNcHkIN~~"
Jeongguk pouted, mimicking Namjoon's tone perfectly, and complained loudly. Jimin laughed, because it was true—his appa did spoil him more than his brothers, and they never missed a chance to whine about it. And in return, their dad had a soft spot for Taehyung.
It was a long-standing, unspoken agreement in their family that Jimin was Namjoon's favorite, and Taehyung was V's. Jin and Jeongguk, being the eldest and youngest, often teamed up to sulk about not being the favorites, even though they were never neglected. They all received equal love and attention, but those little rivalries added to the fun of being a family.
Bored by the usual chaos, Taehyung nuzzled into the crook of Jimin's neck, inhaling the sweet scent that always lingered on him—a mix of something intoxicatingly floral with a hint of strong mint. The sensation sent shivers down Jimin's spine, goosebumps rising on his skin as he tried to shake off his brother.
But Taehyung was persistent. He chuckled softly against Jimin's skin, his hot breath fanning over the sensitive spot on Jimin's neck, making him squirm.
"T-tae, get off," Jimin managed to stammer, trying to sound stern, but the tremble in his voice gave away how much the teasing was affecting him.
"But it's you who's sitting on my lap, so shouldn't you be the one to get off?" Taehyung murmured, his lips ghosting over Jimin's skin as he spoke, barely grazing the surface. The subtle touch sent another wave of shivers through Jimin's body.
"Okay, fine," Jimin huffed, attempting to stand up, but Taehyung had already tightened his grip, holding him firmly in place.
Realizing it was futile, Jimin sighed and resigned himself to his fate, pouting as he let his mischievous brother have his way. He silently whined and allowed his "devil baby" to do as he pleased.
(Shreya— ik it's cringe but yeah)
'Devil baby?' you might wonder. It's a pet name Jimin uses for Taehyung. Despite his tough exterior, Jimin is incredibly soft for the youngest sibling and can never bring himself to say no. He tries to act tough and resist, but inevitably, he caves to whatever Taehyung wants.
Taehyung, with his mischievous streak, often flashes a boxy smile and those innocent, puppy-dog eyes. No matter how Jimin tries to predict the consequences, he always finds himself caught in his brother's playful traps. And thus, the endearing nickname "devil baby" was born.
During their hour-long video call with their parents, Taehyung nestled his face against Jimin's neck, occasionally blowing warm air that made Jimin shiver. Jimin let him stay like that, focusing on the conversation while Taehyung simply nodded and hummed, like a content kitten basking in the sun.
"Okay, bye babies and take care," V said, his voice filled with warmth, while Namjoon gave a tiny, loving wave, as if trying to gently pat their heads through the screen.
"Bye bye," Jin said with a sleepy yawn, his eyes drooping like he'd just walked out of a cozy bed.
"Bye, take care," Jeongguk chimed in, his tone casual but carrying a hint of a mischievous smile.
"Love you," Jimin said with heartfelt sincerity, his expression softening like warm butter on toast. Their parents chuckled, clearly delighted by the family's banter, before ending the call.
"Wow, it was nice to talk with everyone all together," Jin remarked, stretching out and patting Jeongguk's head as if he were a loyal dog. The others nodded in agreement, each feeling a little more connected to home.
"Okay, bros! I'm off; my date is on its way," Jeongguk declared dramatically, like a superhero setting off on an important mission, before heading out with a flourish.
"Heard your class has many new students this year," Jin said, his eyes brightening with curiosity.
"Yeah, actually a lot," Jimin responded, shrugging casually as if he were merely talking about the weather.
"So, is there a guy with a gummy smile, brown hair, average height, and pale skin in your class? What was his name again? Something like Yoohongi? Yungee? You—"
"Min Yoongi?" Jimin suggested, raising an eyebrow with the look of someone who's just had an epiphany, as if Jin had been solving a riddle for ages.
"Oh yeah, that's the name," Jin said with a grin that could rival a Cheshire cat's, clearly pleased with himself for figuring it out.
"Yeah, he's in my class and actually Taehyung's desk mate," Jimin confirmed, his tone casual but with a hint of pride, like he was talking about a minor victory.
"That's great! But weren't you and your devil baby supposed to be inseparable?" Jin teased, his voice dripping with mock disbelief.
"Firstly, Taehyung and I are not 'glued by our asses.' Secondly, that old man thought it would be beneficial for us to bond if we mixed new students with old ones," Jimin said, rolling his eyes as if explaining the obvious to a particularly dense audience.
"Oh, so are you sad? Is your desk mate not cool, or does he lack the kind of charm that you can appreciate?" Jin asked, his tone full of playful exaggeration.
"Nah, he's fine. Actually, I'm happy to have him," Jimin said, smiling at the thought of how Hoseok was ready to help him with Hiya, his expression a mix of contentment and amusement.
"Okay, fine! I'm going up now," Jin said with a dramatic wave, as if he were leaving a royal court.
Jimin hummed and was about to get up when he realized he was trapped by his 'devil baby'.
"Tae?"
He called, trying to shake off the hold.
"Baby?"
"Devil?"
"Bear?"
"The prey of a pedophile teacher?"
"Mr. Love is special?"
"Hey, leave me!"
Jimin tried every nickname he could think of, his voice growing increasingly desperate. Taehyung remained unresponsive, his deep, even breaths the only sign of life.
(A/N: Try 'daddy'—he might actually respond to that. He seems to have a soft spot for that one.)
Had Taehyung fallen asleep?Jimin gently lifted Taehyung's face, only to find his brother sleeping soundly with a serene smile, like an angel that had just been kissed by the morning sun.
"He really likes my scent, huh?"
Jimin mused, a fond smile playing on his lips."How to free myself from his grip without disturbing his sleep? He rarely takes an afternoon nap—poor boy must be exhausted," Jimin sighed, his gaze softening as he looked at Taehyung's peaceful face.
Struggling to free himself, Jimin retrieved his phone with some difficulty and began scrolling through various apps, his eyes growing heavier with each passing moment. Despite his efforts to stay awake, his long, pretty lashes fluttered closed, and he soon drifted off to sleep in a strangely comfortable but awkward position, like a cat curled up in a sunbeam.
