Chapter Eleven: Aftermath

(Threa)

My parents ran in ignoring the grandeur of the chamber straight to us. Mother throwing herself around me in Ominis arms not even caring to push his hands aside as she cried, Father only seconds behind her on every step. I met his gaze for a moment as he looked up to Ominis questioningly before his face swept down to me in relief, kneeling to put a comforting hand on mother's back as he stroked my hair.

"Oh, my baby," she hugged tighter. "Oh, Threa, love are you alright?"

"Momma I'm-"

"What the hell were you thinking attacking him like that! I have half a mind to lock you up for the rest of your life in a Saint Mungos psych ward," father yelled tears streaming down his face.

"I'm sorry papa," I cried shaking as Ominis tightened his hold slightly. Father stepped back taking a few deep breaths as mother finally pulled back smiling softly at Ominis.

"You helped save our daughter," he opened his mouth to speak as she vaulted over me hugging him tightly. "Thank you!" I was squeezed between the two, mother holding Ominis in a death grip. The blind wizard looked utterly confused as she held him to herself. "I have no idea who you are but thank you!"

"Ma'am I," she pulled back placing her hand to his mouth stopping his words.

"I saw you in the terminal. You fought valiantly. Jumped the tracks with me and her father as soon as you saw she was taken.... Thank you!" Ominis smiled softly back at her. "I am so sorry for my words earlier! We should have listened to you!"

"You were worried for your daughter. I am a stranger, I do not fault you for your mistrust," He assured respectfully. "Threa is alive, that is all that matters."

"Too true," father agreed as mother's hands were back on me looking over every inch, pressing her fingers gently into my side making me wince against Ominis.

"June bug, you're hurt?"

"Y-Yes," I groaned in pain shifting away from her hands, Ominis' hold tightening further.

"Threa," he asked worriedly as mother began shuffling through her haver sack. Father was back down next to us horrified as Ominis' breaths grew panicked. "She needs a healer," he said struggling to keep his tone even. Carefully attempting to stand as father put a firm hand on his shoulder. The blond shot his head up towards the man narrowing his eyes. "Sir, your daughter needs aid. I have a carriage just outside the station and can get her to Mungos in minutes," his voice broke. "Please."

"Minutes we may not have," father choked looking on the blind man remorsefully. "She needs help now. I could apparate, but the compression of the spell could cause any broken bones to break further, puncture vital organs, possibly kill her."

"She needs a healer!"

"She does," mother added beaming at the man. "Good thing you are looking at the best healer in Richmond. What hurts dear?"

"Is it extreme to say everything," I tried to joke father and Ominis made a low growl.

"Do you have anything," father pleaded.

"Always carry a few Grand Wiggenweld bottles just in case," she mused pulling out a deep green vial beaming up at the man. "Never know when you can find a new patron. Here dear," she uncorked the bottle bringing it to my lips as I drank from it greatly. The numb feeling dissipating as I let out a long breath falling back into the blonde exhausted.

"Thanks Mum."

"That should help heal you up love," she said sweetly as Ominis let out a relieved breath. "So, what should I call my daughters savior?" A blush formed across his cheeks.

"M-My names Ominis, Ominis Gaunt," her eyebrow raised looking at father whose features furrowed as a cheshire smile grew across her lips.

"Ominis," she approvingly beamed. "It is nice to finally meet you dear. We have heard much about you."

"Mother," I warned, she laughed moving to help me up. My legs wobbled feeling like I'd been cast with a jelly legs jinx as I held tightly to Ominis to stay upright. "It's the truth. You two have had quite the correspondence this summer, wouldn't you agree Issac?"

"Quite the correspondence indeed," Father mused moving daringly towards us, staring down the blind wizard. Ominis stiffened next to me seemingly readying himself for a rebuke. "May I see your hand lad," he asked as Ominis shifted nervously keeping me steady with one arm extending the other shakily towards my father making the elder man laugh clasping his hand shaking it greatly. "It is an utter pleasure to finally meet you son."

"You-you as well Sir," he gathered himself laughing awkwardly, before letting out his fearful breath looking more composed and relaxed. "Though I had wished it'd had been under better circumstances."

"Indeed," he looked the blind man over. He was considerably taller than he was a mere two months ago. Sprouting in height to be at least 187cm. Jaw sharper bits of stubble lining its trail possibly too worried getting to Anne to shave this morning. He held me close as I could feel his muscular frame hidden beneath his dignified but dirtied suit. Much of him looked different, but not that smile. That perfect aristocratic smile was the same bright calming presence I had missed this summer.

"Maybe we can have dinner all together once you two get settled back at the school, our treat," Mother suggested as Ominis nodded.

"Threa tells me you are quite the cook," he gently remarked turning his bright smile up to her.

"I know my way around the kitchen," she noted as father scoffed. "My Jarvey, what is it?"

"You want her to go back to that school after what just happened," father spat as I looked at him in shock.

"You don't," I questioned feeling my chest grow tight.

"Buggy I know you love that school, but I don't think this education is worth your life."

"The school didn't cause this."

"No, everything around it did," he spat.

"Issac," Mother scolded as he shook his head.

"You can't really expect me to just allow her to walk back into that building knowing that it risks this happening again? What if she's not as lucky next time Sarena! She is our daughter!"

"Do I not get a choice in this?" They were both silent for a moment staring at each other chillingly.

"Tsvina tsvene," Natty said from behind us as hers and other footsteps echoed down the tunnel.

"We will discuss this later," mother growled at him as he nodded. I squeezed tighter to Ominis' arm, they aren't serious? They can't pull me out of the school for this. It wasn't my fault.

"Natsai language," her mother scolded as she walked in wearily with her husband as her eyes went wide. "Tsvina tsvene!"

"Now who has a foul mouth," he teased.

"Merlin how did you calm a Runespoor," Poppy gasped as Ominis stiffened next to me. Not many know he's a Parselmouth, the gift is usually associated with dark wizards, a gift he has fought hard to keep secret because of said fact.

"Because she is a powerful bad ass witch that's how," Garreth said making Ominis relax just a bit, as Garreth, Professor Weasley and a man looking much like the two entered, the elder man hitting Garreth upside the head.

"Blimey, Pa!"

"That is for coming back," he snapped smiling proudly at his son. "Is he this troublesome at school?"

"Even more so if you'd believe it Georgie," Professor Weasley beamed turning to take in the ruined room frowning as she looked at the expanse of dead bodies before turning her eyes onto Ominis and I mournfully. "I have already contacted the ministry. They are sending a team of aurors here to handle the mess. They will need verbal statements from you both on what has happened here today. I have been requested to ask you all to stay put as they work to fix the terminal," she glanced up at the Runespoor nose crinkling. "Though I'm sure the snake will be a surprise," her eyes held level. "It's docile."

"Yes," I answered hearing Ominis let out a relieved breath as she nodded.

"Matilda, where were the Aurors," father chipped towards the deputy headmistress. "I counted nearly twenty when we were trying to locate the railman. Only five left in search of the train. When that bomb went off there were none.... What happened?"

"That is something I would like to know myself Lord Longbottom," she mused an unease laced her tone. "A man attacked my students today. Your children. Trust, I want to know as much as you, how he got the chance."

"A good question to ask the aurors when they get here," Chidi added looking worriedly over at Natsai. "Those men tried to take my new family from me. I want to see them, and all their conspirators brought to justice."

"You and I both," George added.

"Is anyone seriously injured? I'm a healer. I don't have much, but I have a few potions and herbal remedies that can tithe you over until we can get you to the medical hospital," mother added smiling at the crowd as Garreth stepped forward holding out a bloodied sleeve.

"It honestly isn't that bad, just a scratch," he sniffed as mum rolled up his sleeve to reveal a large gash.

"Just a scratch," she mocked pulling him to the side to set out her remedies taking a few dittany leaves tearing them and placing them firmly to the wound making him hiss.

"Natsai go get assessed by Mrs. Longbottom," the African beauty pulled from her mother's hold.

"I'm fine mother, not my first scuffle with dark wizards!"
"Exactly why you should see her," the professor spat. "They could have hit a nerve that was damaged when you were under the crutiatas curse. I do not want to see my daughter back in a wheelchair because of her tremors," Natty's jaw clenched but eventually nodded moving next to Garreth.

The adults separated, gathering towards Weasley as they spoke in hushed tones leaving us to wait for the aurors. I turned back up to Ominis, his face pensively serious obviously stuck in his thoughts. I took his hand in mine, relishing its warmth, his expression evaporating instantly smiling softly towards me.

"Threa," Poppy nearly screamed out a sob as she threw her arms around tackling me in a hug as my legs still weak staggered back. Ominis kept hold of me tightly, keeping me upright. "I thought the worst when I saw you gone! I thought that man had got you," she pulled back punching me in the arm.

"Ow!"

"Don't you ever use yourself as a distraction to try and save me again," she spat pointing her head at Ominis. "She listens to you! Do I need to punch you too for her to get my point through!"

"Just got done yelling at her about that myself," his lips turned to a thin smile as he looked towards the brunette's voice. "Glad to see you in one piece Poppy."

"You as well Ominis," she sighed softly turning to look at me smiling bashfully. "You know, when I bet you'd come in with a big entrance this is NOT what I was meaning."

"I know," I chuckled. "Least this means Duncan owes you a few Galleons now too," she laughed loudly.

"After what he said to you and Imelda earlier today, you best believe I'll be collecting. Else he'll be answering to my puffskein," Ominis made a curious hum as Poppy gasped. "Oh Merlin Gerald! I didn't even see him in all the commotion! Do you think he survived the blast, oh my precious little boy he-"

"Geralds fine Pop, had him in my arms right before you got taken. I'm sure he's just rolling about that terminal as we speak," her arms slumped in relief.

"Thank Merlin, I don't know what I'd do if something happened to him. Samantha would be devastated."

"Samantha," Ominis asked as the witch instantly brightened.

"Samantha Dale, she and I are courting. Dear grew quite attached to the fur ball this summer. She would probably end our courtship if something had happened to him."

"You and Dale, really," genuine surprise spread across his features as he nodded approvingly. "Smart witch, congratulations."

"Thank you," she perked pausing to look between me and the man, eyes traveling down to gazing where he still held me protectively to himself smiling wide. "Well, I should probably get looked over myself. Don't let her run off again Gaunt, if you do, I will kill you."

"Noted Sweeting," he smiled, softly chuckling as she walked over to my mother, I turned back to the blue-eyed wizard as his attention shifted towards me as we stood staring at each other for a moment.

He came for me, risked his life for me. I always knew I was undeserving of his friendship especially after everything that happened last year, this only solidifies it. His smile fell as he looked at me questioningly.

"Sunshine," did he? Did he just call me sunshine? "Are you," his voice trailed off looking towards the tunnel staring accusingly in its darkness as he pulled me closer to himself.

His wand flashed quickly as Officer Singer and a slew of Aurors poured from the tunnel looking over the deposit in awe. The officer's eyes wandered across the room before falling on me audibly groaning.

"You've got to be kidding me," she spat. "Have you ever heard of self-preservation Longbottom!"

"Hello Ruth," I fought a sweet voice. A deep noise came from Ominis' chest as the woman rolled her eyes.

Her officers fanned through the room, some moving to help mother with tending wounds and the others to question the rest of us. The lead officer bee lined to me, her face bitter in contempt.

"If it helps, I didn't go looking for this battle."

"It doesn't," she and Ominis said in disdaining unison.
