Twenty-Five
Wooyoung hummed one of Jongho's songs to himself as he walked home from visiting San. He was happy that his friend was doing better, but returning home to an empty house just made him miss Jongho even more. Especially when Yeosang was there.
And it was nothing against the couple, he was very happy for them. It had just been a long time since Jongho had gone on a supply run, and Wooyoung felt like he was missing his other half.
He stopped a short distance from his house and looked up at the moon. "Please keep him safe Aurora. And bring him back to me." He whispered.
Then he heard a high-pitched giggle and looked down to see a little girl running by his house.
"Hey!" He said, trotting to follow her. "Where are you going sweetie? Where's your mom?"
The girl turned to look at him. Bright green eyes seemed to flash in the moonlight. She giggled again and ran further inland. Wooyoung spun in a circle, looking for any other adult in the area, but found no one. He followed her, worried that maybe she snuck out or got lost and didn't know her way home.
"Hey sweetie! Wait up! We need to go find your mommy or daddy!" He called out, getting slightly frustrated that she wasn't stopping.
She let out another giggle and stopped by the edge of the jungle and waved at him.
"No! Don't go in there!" He sped up. They had brought a lot of people to Utopia, but they had yet to explore it fully. It was larger than any of them had expected and the center was overrun by jungle. "Stop!"
The girl ran into the trees.
"Oh, come on! I'm going to have a serious conversation with your parents about this." Wooyoung grumbled as he ducked into the trees, listening carefully for her laugh or for the sound of branches snapping. "Please, I just want to go home and attempt to get some sleep."
A branch snapped to his left, making him jump. "Ok this isn't funny anymore."
Someone laughed. It was a deep sound that that seemed to echo around him.
"H-Hello?" Wooyoung turned in a circle as the hairs on the back of his neck rose.
Then he heard the little girl's giggle behind him. "Ok sweetheart, it's time to go home now." He said, trying to keep his voice steady.
He turned in a circle again, then his heart started to beat faster. Everything looked the same. He didn't know where he came from.
The laugh came again and he felt his knees go weak. "P-Please. This isn't f-funny." Wooyoung whimpered. He looked up at the sky, hoping to catch sight of the moon, but the trees were too thick.
A breeze blew through them, shaking the leaves back and forth.
He felt something graze across his back and he spun around. "This is all in your head... Just start walking and you'll be home before you know it..." He whispered to himself. His hands were shaking as he picked a direction, so he brought them up and held them to his chest.
Leaves and branches rustled below him as he shuffled forward. A chill ran down his spine. He wished Jongho was there... He always felt safer when he was around. His protector.
Wooyoung smiled when he remembered that Hongjoong had called Jongho his guard dog once. It was still so true, but now with the added benefit that they were also lovers.
He missed him so much...
Then he froze as the laugh echoed around him again. It sounded a lot closer this time.
He started to walk faster, but there wasn't a break in the trees. Wooyoung started to worry that he had picked the wrong direction.
Cursing quietly, he turned around.
Wooyoung screamed and backed away as he came face to face with his worst nightmare.
"Hello Handsome." Calypso purred, walked forward as he walked backward. "Did you miss me?"
"Y-Y-You're n-not real... This is-s j-just another n-n-nightmare." He stuttered, yelping as he almost tripped over a tree branch.
Calypso laughed. "I've been looking for you for so long. I almost had you when you fell overboard during my storm, but someone managed to help you escape my clutches. And then I had to recover after calling upon it, so it gave you time to get away from me, my pet." She kept advancing on him.
Tears started to roll down Wooyoung's cheeks. "You're not real... You're not real..." His voice caught in his throat when he found himself pinned against a tree.
"Oh, I'm real this time." Calypso said, running her long fingers over his jaw and throat. "And I've come back to take what's mine." She leaned closer to him. "No one breaks a deal with me and gets away with it." Wooyoung whimpered when she grabbed his jaw. "Especially not my little pet."
Then her lips were on his. Wooyoung knew he wasn't dreaming this time. Nothing about her touches felt fuzzy like when he dreamed. She was here. She had found him.
"Come, pet." Calypso sneered as she pulled away. "I found a nice little spot where no one will find us. I used a lot of my magic when I put the tracking spell on your San. I see he managed to survive, he was lucky. But, he led me right to you." Her laugh echoed through the trees again.
Wooyoung felt anger boil in him for a brief moment. She was the one who made San so sick? How could she? But then the anger was replaced by pure terror. It was to get to him... Somehow she had tracked San's location through the sickness... And it led her straight to Utopia.
"I need some time to recover." Calypso snapped her fingers and a coil of rope appeared, just like on her island. She grabbed it and quickly tied Wooyoung's hands together. "While I do, you will do what I say, when I say to do it. Because you are mine."
She yanked on the rope and Wooyoung fell to his knees in front of her. "And then," She crouched in front of him and kissed him again, placing a hand on the back of his head to keep him in place. "Once I get my full strength back, we will go home, where you will serve me for all eternity."
"N-No... Please!" Wooyoung begged, trying to free his hands.
Calypso just laughed and turned to walk deeper into the trees. She pulled him behind her, and no matter how hard he struggled and tried to get away, the ropes never gave way and she never gave in.
And no one on Utopia would know what happened to him...
Even though he screamed for help, they were far enough away that no one could hear him.
No one would know...
He would never see his family again. He would never see Jongho again.
And that made this even worse as his captor led him further inland and closer to the torture he knew he was about to face.
It made Wooyoung think something that he hadn't thought since being on the island. Something that Jongho made him promise to never think again, because it implied he was willing to leave him. But he couldn't help it as he thought about how hopeless his situation was.
He would rather die than go through this again.
