Thirty-Five
Yunho helped his mom finish cleaning everything up, then started to walk home with Seonghwa so the new parents could have some alone time.
"Just think, in a few months we will go through this again!" He said, bouncing up and down as he walked.
Seonghwa chuckled and smiled down at his belly while rubbing it. "Yes, we are. I can't believe it sometimes."
Yunho was about to speak again when he heard the horns sound. Both of them looked to their left and saw the ship in the distance. "They're back! Oh, they're back! This will be a nice surprise!" Yunho clapped and he and Seonghwa made their way to the docks.
The crew worked on unloading everything. Hongjoong came and kissed Seonghwa on the cheek before going to help them. It looked like they got a good majority of the supplies that were needed, but Yunho know Jongho wouldn't have been able to stay away for long.
He sighed as he watched his friend disembark, carrying a large sack. He spoke quietly with Hongjoong, who patted his shoulder and nodded.
Jongho bowed his head and walked off the dock, not looking at anyone else. Yunho felt his heart sink when he realized just how thin the younger looked. He made a mental note to go help him later.
But first he needed to see Mingi.
His lover walked down the gang plank, a bright smile on his face as he looked down at something. Yunho stood up on his toes to try and see what is was as the crew moved back and forth, blocking his view.
"What is Mingi looking at?" Seonghwa asked, also craning his neck a little.
"I can't tell." Yunho jumped, but he still couldn't see anything.
A small group of people gathered behind Mingi and Irys. They followed the latter when they got to the beach while Mingi broke off to come see Yunho.
The older paused when he saw a little boy clinging to Mingi's pant leg, his thumb in his mouth. He looked so scared. Yunho placed a hand over his chest and glanced back at Mingi. He gave a soft smiled and then stooped down to pick the boy up.
"Hey." He said, leaning over to kiss Yunho's cheek.
"Welcome home." Seonghwa said, giving Mingi a curious look.
"Mini..." The little boy whined and hid his face in Mingi's neck. It made the pirate chuckle.
"It's okay Milo. I want to introduce you to someone." He said, rubbing the boy's back. "Do you remember when I told you about Yunho?" The boy nodded, still not looking at anyone. "This is him."
"Milo?" Yunho said, looking between the boy and Mingi.
The younger sighed and nodded his head. "We found him at the ocean city. His..." He paused, and then mouthed 'His mother died on board'.
Yunho covered his mouth with his hand and Seonghwa let out a small gasp. "Oh no..."
"So I was thinking. Well... He needs a home. And he has gotten attached." Mingi chuckled as Milo used a little hand to grip his shirt. "What do you think?"
"You want to... You and me?" Yunho pointed between them several times, then a huge smile broke across his face. He shuffled behind Mingi's back to see if Milo would looked at him
The little boy peeked at him and giggled when Yunho made a face. "Hello Milo."
"Yuho?"
Yunho held back a snort and his lips quivered from the effort. "Yes, I'm Yunho. Are you going to come live with me and Mingi?"
"Mini!" Milo patted the pirates back with his small hand and giggled. "Mini!"
"That's right, baby." Mingi chuckled. "We will need to make some changes at the house, but he doesn't have anywhere else to go." He said, turning around to face his lover. Milo sat up in his arms and watched Yunho the entire time.
"I don't care. He is the sweetest thing!" Yunho reached out and tickled Milo's pudgy stomach. The little boy giggled again and then leaned towards Yunho, who gladly took him into his arms. He felt his heart melting when Milo wrapped his tiny arms around his neck.
Mingi smiled at him and rubbed the back of Yunho's head before connecting their foreheads.
"Oh! Yeosang had the baby!" Yunho said, stepping back.
"He did?" Mingi looked surprised, then looked to where Seonghwa had been standing. Neither of them noticed he had walked away to go be with Hongjoong. "When?"
"Just before you guys got back. It seemed really sudden, I'm not sure what caused it. But it's a beautiful baby boy. They named him Caspian."
"Caspi?" Milo said, placing his hand on Yunho's cheek.
"No, I'm Yunho. There's another little boy on the island now." He tickled Milo's cheek and held the boy close to him.
"Yuho..." the boy yawned and let out a tiny sound. "Sweepy, Mini."
"I bet you are. Let's get you home. We can go visit the new parents later." Mingi took Yunho's hand and they walked back to their small hut. "I know we really aren't prepared to take care of a kid, but..."
"We will make it work. I love the name Milo too, it's so unique." Yunho glanced at Mingi and saw him blushing. "What?"
"Y-Yeah, it's a good name. I gave it to him." He rubbed the back of his neck and looked away.
"How did you come up with it?" Yunho could tell he was embarrassed about something and was determined to get it out of him.
Mingi cleared his throat and took Milo from his arms and took him to their bed, laying him down and brushing his fluffy black hair out of his face. "He looks like you." The pirate said with a smile.
"Why are you avoiding the question?" Yunho asked with a smirk. He crossed his arms and tapped his foot when Mingi didn't look at him.
Then he sighed and turned bright red. "It's a combination of our names." He mumbled.
Yunho cocked an eyebrow. "What?"
"Really? You're really going to make me say it?" Mingi whined and stood up, moving to wrap his arms around Yunho's waist.
"Yes. Spill it." Yunho laughed at his lover's red face, then laughed harder when he buried his face in his neck.
"You aren't allowed to tell anyone, okay? Promise me? I have an image I need to uphold around here." The pirate mumbled into Yunho's neck. It sent a shiver down his spine and he giggles.
"Ok, you big baby, I promise."
Mingi grumbled, then said, "Mingi loves Yunho." He tightened his grip on Yunho and refused to look up.
Yunho bit his lip, trying to contain his giddiness so he didn't wake up Milo. "I love you too, Mingi." He managed to lift Mingi's head up so he could kiss him. He never got tired of feeling Mingi's lips on his. It was absolutely perfect.
"Oh! I can't wait to tell Mom!" Yunho squeals quietly, jumping up and down.
They were able to later that day. Milo had woken up from his nap and started crying when he realized he was in a strange place. Yunho was there instantly, cooing over him and holding him close.
When he finally calmed down, Yunho set him down to make some lunch. Milo squealed as he hobbled around their home, exploring his new surroundings. "Yuho!" He yelled after a moment when he lost sight of him.
"I'm right here sweetie!" Yunho walked around the corner and smiled as Milo sped over to him. He clung to his neck and Yunho scooped him off the ground. "I've got you."
Mingi came back some time later, a bright smile on his face. "Okay, I managed to get some extra blankets and pillows, as well as some toys. It's not much, but it's a start." He set the stuff down and walked over to join them. "Are you ready to tell your parents?"
"Yes, he seems to be in a good mood."
"Good, because they are here." Mingi laughed as the door opened and Yunho's family poured in.
"Is it true?" Teresa said, walking straight over to Yunho. "Oh he does look like you! He's so precious!"
"Ok, Mom. Calm down." Yunho said as Milo hid in his neck.
"Yuho..." He whined, his bottom lip quivering.
"It's okay sweetie. This is my..." He hesitated then looked at Mingi.
"This is Yunho's mom." Mingi said gently. They watched as Milo processed the information.
"Yuho... mommy?" Milo paused, then started to look around. "Where mommy?" His voice quivered.
Yunho shot Mingi a glare. "It had to be done at some point." Mingi said, but the pain in his voice was evident. "He was going to hear you calling her mom."
"Momma!" Milo started to cry.
"It's okay baby, it's okay. Mingi and I are going to take care of you now. Ok?"
"Where mommy?" Milo asked, rubbing his eyes and staring and Yunho.
"Mommy asked us to take care of you. Is that okay? Would you like to stay with me and Mingi?"
"Mini?" The boy looked over at Mingi and then reaches for him. He hugged the pirate and made Teresa's heart melt.
"He is so precious! You two are going to take care of him?" She looked between the couple.
"Yeah, I think we are." Yunho said, blushing a little as he looked at Mingi. Then his face faltered when he saw that Quinn's cheek was swollen and red. "What happened to you!?" He hurried over to her and looked at it.
"Nothing, I'm fine." She waved him off and rubbed her cheek a little. "I wasn't paying attention and walked into a door."
Yunho pursed his lips, not believing it for a second.
"So does this mean I'm an auntie now?" She said, trying to change the subject.
"Um..." Yunho glanced at where Milo was now staring at their mom with interest. "Yeah, I guess it does."
"Good, I'm so going to spoil him rotten!" She marched over and started talking to Milo too.
Juno came over and clapped him on the back. "You win again kid." He gave a booming laugh.
"Win? What on earth are you talking about?"
"Oh come on, you always were the favorite son." He winked and poked Yunho's cheeks. "The cutest one, first one to be in a relationship, first one to have a kid. I just can't compete." His voice was laced with sarcasm and Yunho just shook his head. "No, but I'm proud of you baby brother."
"Thanks." Yunho felt his chest swell as he looked at his family. It was all he had ever wanted.
Then a nagging thought entered his mind and he cursed quietly. "Hey, there's something I need to go do. Will you guys be okay?"
"What's wrong, love?" Mingi asked, walking over to him.
"I wanted to go check on Jongho. He didn't look good when getting off the ship."
"Let's go together. Milo got a smile out of him on the ship, maybe it'll happen again."
"I'll go with you." Juno said. "He could use some help, and I've finished my chores for the day."
"Thank you." Yunho smiled at his brother and led the way out after grabbing some food and water.
They could hear metal chopping wood and Yunho sped up. He sighed when he saw a shirtless Jongho busting through the next tree in his way.
When the younger stopped to wipe his brow, he noticed them standing there and nodded before coming to accept the bucket of water and took a swig from the large spoon. "Thanks." He said.
"Jongho, you-"
"Don't." He said harshly, then turned to see Mingi approaching with Milo.
"Jo-Jo!" Milo said, bouncing in Mingi's arms.
"That's right! That's Jongho from the ship."
A small smile tugged at the corner of Jongho's mouth when Milo saw him. He set down the axe and sat down on a nearby rock.
Juno came and took it without saying a word and started chopping down the foliage. Yunho sent him a silent thank you before turning back to Jongho. "You need to eat."
"I'm fine."
"No, you're not. And if you're going to insist on being out here all day, every day, you need to keep your strength and energy up! Starving yourself and not sleeping is not going to help you here! Quit being so stubborn and let us take care of you!" Yunho snapped.
Jongho flinched and just looked away.
"What is your problem? You're acting like you did when you first joined us. Stuck up and stubborn!"
"Okay, calm down." Mingi said, coming over to place a hand on Yunho's shoulder.
Jongho sighed and took the plate of food Yunho had brought and started eating. Milo squirmed in Mingi's arms, and when he was set down, he walked over and hugged Jongho's leg.
For whatever reason, this caused him to break down. Jongho buried his face in his hand and started to cry. The couple moved to his side immediately and hugged him while Milo patted his knee. "I'm sorry..."
"No, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap. This is hard on everyone, you just get the brunt of it."
"I just... I'm nothing without him. I don't understand... And I was stupid and hoped that when we pulled in to dock he would be there waiting for me. And now you guys have Milo, and I heard Yeosang had the baby, and I'm happy for you all. I really, truly am! I just..."
Yunho felt tears come to his eyes. "We are going to find him."
The four of them sat there for a long moment as Jongho got his pent up emotions out. Yunho did feel a pang of guilt, because he had been right. Everyone had an excuse to be happy right now, except for Jongho.
He decided he would talk to the others to see if there was anything else they could do to help their friend out.
"Jo-Jo." Milo said again, still patting his leg. "No cry, Jo-Jo."
