Yunho smiled as he watched San and Yeosang look through the books he had to offer. He had been building up his collection ever since they got to Utopia. Maybe people donated books they had brought with them so that everyone could enjoy the knowledge kept within their pages.
He and Mingi had built this library together and he was very proud of it. He spent most of his time here helping islanders find books to read, or simply reading himself.
So when Mingi came to pay him a visit, he thought his lover was coming to just spend some time with him. But instead, the look on his face gave away that he had some bad news.
"What's wrong?" Yunho whispered, moving over to him.
"I came to let you know that Captain has decided to set sail again in a couple of days."
Yunho stepped back and covered his mouth and tears ran down his cheeks. "You just got back!" He said a little louder than he had intended.
Mingi winced and tried to pull Yunho into his arms, but the older stepped away. "Can we go talk, outside? Please?"
Still crying, Yunho ducked outside and moved to the back of the library where they had set up a little reading nook for him so he could enjoy the fresh air if he wanted to. He purposely sat down in one of the single chairs and pulled his knees up to his chest.
Mingi sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. "I know you're upset that I'm leaving again, and I'm sorry. But we knew it was going to be this way to some extent, gorgeous. There are a lot of people who deserve to enjoy this place too."
Yunho still didn't look at him. Instead he buried his face in his knees and continued to cry.
"Yunho, please. Please don't cry." Mingi knelt in front of him and grabbed his legs. "Baby, please. You still have me for a few more days, do you really want to part like this?"
The older shook his head but didn't lift it up at all. Instead he started speaking into his legs, but the words came out muffled.
"What was that?" Mingi tried to hide a laugh.
"I'm tired of missing people." Yunho muttered, tilting his head just a little bit. "I miss my family. I don't like missing you too. Can't Hongjoong go alone?"
"I'm his first mate. He needs me by his side."
"So do I!" Yunho finally raised his head and glared at Mingi. "Who is more important to you? Me, or Hongjoong?"
Mingi felt his mouth open and close several times.
Yunho felt his anger rising as he just watched him struggle for words. "Then just go! If it's that hard for you to make a choice, then just go and sail away." He stood up and pushed Mingi out of the way. "Oh!" He threw his hands up in the air, "But don't worry. I'll be waiting here for you when you get back so you can have your piece of ass to get you by until you sail away again!"
Then he stormed away. He knew he had hurt Mingi, and he had intended for it to hurt. But he loved him so damn much...
If they would have waited a month, or even just a couple more weeks, maybe he would have been ok with it. But they just got back a few days ago.
He left his lover outside and stormed back into the library to find San and Yeosang gone, but surprisingly, Jongho was browsing through the books.
The younger looked up with him and started to wave, then paused. "Hey, are you ok?"
"I'm fine." Yunho snapped, going to a section to straighten it out. "What are you looking for?"
"Um... I'm not really sure. I just wanted to look at a couple of things..." Jongho stared at him for a moment, then returned to browsing.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to snap. Can I help you find something?"
"It's ok. And I'm... I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. Maybe something on old traditions? I want to do something for Woo..." Yunho watched as the younger turned bright red and refused to look at him.
He found it sweet that he was thinking about Wooyoung. The boy had been through enough in his life and deserved someone like Jongho who wanted to take care of him. But he couldn't help but feel jealous after what had just happened with Mingi.
But he wanted to help his friend too, so he moved to another section and pulled out a few books he knew had traditions from the old world in it.
Jongho thanked him, still blushing furiously, and left the library.
Yunho started mindlessly sifting through his books again, trying to distract himself. Even though he was on an island full of people, he found himself feeling alone.
