20 • Twenty Questions

Lisa Manoban's acting capabilities may not be worthy of an Oscar nomination now, but she believed her skills were decent enough to help her come out of dodgy situations unscathed. Such situations may or may not involve the youngest member of the most renowned idol group in the world today.

Eyes wide like saucers, she asked Jungkook in a sugary tone. "What?"

A sigh. "Did you hear me this morning or not?"

She could tell that the boy wasn't buying her innocent act yet. Curse you delicious strawberry wine for making me a lousy actress! But, she feared not, because Lisa Manoban was nothing if not stubborn.

Shrugging, she took a sip of the alcoholic drink and tried again, "I don't know what you're talking about."

"But, you started acting really weird after my shower this mor—", another exasperated sigh, "c'mon Lisa, just answer the question truthfully please."

Oh... and here you thought you were being subtle all day, Lisa.

Still, she lied through her teeth. "Like I said, I don't know what the heck you're talking about, Jungkook."

But, the boy was relentless. "You did, didn't you?"

Feeling trapped, the girl started debating with her inner demons.

You don't have to tell him anything, Lisa!

Ugh, but I super duper hate lying to my precious Jungkook.

He'll be sad if he finds out. You don't want to see him sad, do you?

Are you blind? He already feels bad, stupid! Woman up and tell him the truth once and for all!

She glanced at the boy; he was playing with the sand in front of him and looking as miserable as she felt. With a resigned sigh, she admitted, "fine, fine, I did hear you."

And just like that, Jungkook slumped into the sand like a wounded puppy, his hair hiding his eyes from her. "Damn it. I'm sorry, Lisa."

"Don't say sorry to me," she begged, "I should be the one apologizing to you."

"I can't show my face to you again," the boy gave a low moan of misery, he wasn't even listening to her anymore, "this is the most embarrassing moment of my life."

"Oh no, Jeon Jungkook," she crawled to his side. When she reached him, Lisa carefully laid his head atop her thighs and he let her.

After running her fingers through his silky hair, she started massaging his strained shoulders. He had muscle pain all day, due to their early-morning boxing session. "It's okay. There's no reason for you to be embarrassed 'coz what I heard means nothing to me. It's my fault that I hangout outside the bathroom when you shower, anyway. I'm so sorry for being a weirdo."

He went still. "Really? You're not mad at me?"

"Why would I be? I wasn't born yesterday, Kook. I know that these are all pretty normal stuff." Seeing the surprised expression on his face, she asked, "why? Do you have this pre-conceived idea that I'm just another idol who's clueless about these things? You do realize that I'm a 23-year-old adult, right? We're—"

She stopped in the middle of her monologue when she noticed the way Jungkook was staring at her.

It was perhaps the alcohol flowing in her veins that was making her see something that wasn't there. But, she could had sworn that Jungkook's eyes held the entirety of the universe inside of them. "Have I told you that you have the most soulful eyes I've ever seen?"

"Is that your first question?" He asked softly, his gaze never leaving hers.

A long moment passed before Lisa quickly shook her head in an attempt to clear her mind. What was that? "No, no, you're distracting me."

"Sorry," he chuckled, head still cradled on her lap, "take your time."

All at once, her mind was flooded with questions upon questions she wanted to ask the boy, but every single one of them was about sex.

This is all Jungkook's fault for bringing up the bathroom incident, she defended herself. After drinking a mouthful of her liquid courage, she felt brave enough to ask, "are sex-related questions allowed in this game of yours?"

"Yeah, I don't see why not."

Her eyebrows raised at that. Sex was still considered a taboo topic for many conservatives in modern-day South Korea, so she was quite surprised to hear his answer.

Lisa's lips slowly curved into a tiny smirk; she needed to come through with her promise earlier, that Jungkook spills all of his dirty little secrets tonight.

"So... since we're already in the topic", she started, "tell me Jeon Jungkook, is BTS' golden maknae a virgin?"

•••

Jeon Jungkook didn't know which was sexier: the sly grin on Lisa's lips or her bright, playful gaze. "What do you think?"

An annoyed expression swiftly crossed her face after hearing his reply, making him laugh. "Don't answer my question with another question please."

The boy debated with himself if he should just outrightly tell her the answer or not. He had expected these kind of questions to be thrown his way the second he suggested the game, anyway.

Deep inside, Jungkook knew he wanted to tell Lisa everything about him, too; the good, the bad, and everything in between. He trusted her as much.

Ah, to hell with it. "Nope, I'm not a virgin."

"I see," she nodded at his reply, "with that god-like body of yours, of course you're not. Why did I even ask?"

"God-like body, eh?"

"Oh, c'mon," whined Lisa, her eyelids drooping, "you know you look good. I know you look good. The world knows you look good, Kook."

A hoot of laughter tore out of his mouth at that. Lisa was turning out to be an honest drunk. Who would have thought?

"Just get on with your second question," she murmured shyly.

Right then and there, what the girl said earlier came to mind, "so, why were you hanging out outside of the bathroom when I shower?"

Lisa squeezed her eyes shut. "You think I'm a weirdo, don't you?"

"A bit," he kidded, "just tell me and I'll decide whether you really are or not."

She nibbled on her lower lip, "you would sometimes sing in the shower and I really love hearing you sing. So, I hangout outside of the bathroom to listen to your mini concerts. That's pretty much it. Please don't be mad."

The boy was speechless for a second. "If you want to hear me sing, just say the word and I'd sing for you, anytime, anywhere." I guess, she isn't the only honest drunk around here.

"Okay," said Lisa, her eyes reflecting the vibrant colors of the nearby fire.

As if the heavens were watching them at that very moment, a familiar melody echoed from the speakers.

Park Jimin's angelic voice filled the air; he was singing about a love that was bigger than all of the galaxies combined, a love that was written in the stars.

Jungkook missed his members. He wished they were with him right now, so they could see that he was doing okay and that Lisa was the reason for that.

The way they were right now gave him a glimpse of what the rest of his life could be if he spends it with Lisa Manoban; full of stars, great music, and happiness. Lots and lots of happiness.
