19 • A Sky Full of Stars

Something's not right, the boy thought to himself as his eyes nervously followed the girl's every movement around their kitchen.

He can't keep his eyes off of Lisa these days, that he was willing to admit; but this time, it was for an entirely different reason.

"Don't worry," said the gray-haired girl, her slender back to him, while she stirred the pot of kimchi stew. "I got this. Just go and play video games or something."

She kept using her baby voice, something she does every now and then. He noticed before that she did it more frequently when she was talking about her cats or asking him for favors. However, Lisa has been using her cutesy tone all morning. And as far as he could remember, she hadn't done that before.

She had also been fussing over him, asking him if he wanted to eat, drink, or do anything. Whatever he wanted to do, she was game for it, she said. Whatever he needed, she was at his disposal, too.

Although, he didn't dislike the attention, he was getting more and more weirded out at her sudden personality change as the day progressed.

He stayed rooted at his spot behind her. Something's definitely not right.

A moment later, she heaved a sigh and turned around to face him, "just let me do this for you, please," she pleaded. "I swear I'm not going to burn the house down."

He tried to analyze her face more intently, from the line between her eyebrows and her rose-tinted cheeks to the way the corners of her mouth drooped to form a sad pout. Her expressive, brown eyes still didn't give anything away.

"Fine, let me know if you need any help," he finally muttered, before making his way into the living room. Only a blind man would miss that something was bothering her and he vowed to know about it one way or another.

It had been a long morning full of inescapable shame for Lisa, thanks to the recent bathroom incident.

After processing her emotions about what she had heard, she realized that it didn't matter to her one bit.

Looking at it from a scientific perspective, masturbation was a common sexual activity among men and women. And there was nothing wrong in doing it unless, of course, one did it in public and traumatized unsuspecting bystanders.

It was too easy for her to just get over what happened. Still, her guilt set in. And after a while, it became awkward for her to look him in the eye, knowing that she violated his privacy in the worst way possible.

Knowing Jeon Jungkook, it would upset him, too, to know about what she heard, even if he wasn't at fault. And so, she promised to carry the secret to her grave.

The boy in question was engrossed with watching some random cartoon on the television. He would constantly touch the back of his neck, as if he was in pain.

There was one thing left to do now, Lisa repeated to herself, and that is to satisfy Jeon Jungkook's every whim until I atone for my sin.

"Hey, Kook," she finally said to him, "do you want a neck massage after lunch?"

It was their eighteenth night on the island, and Lisa and Jungkook had nothing better to do than lounge around the blazing campfire the boy made just a few meters away from the crashing waves.

They were going to sleep under the stars, under the hazy band of light that was the Milky Way.

"Are those all for you?" She questioned him, her large eyes set on the two bottles of wine on the boy's lap.

"Yeah, why? Did you want some?"

"Nope." Lisa wasn't much of a wine drinker, anyway; she preferred fruity cocktails any day.

The boy only shrugged in response and opened his first bottle. After a long drink or two, Jungkook leaned back on his elbows and stared at the evening sky. He looked so cool.

Well, it wouldn't hurt to get a few sips, would it? "On second thought, hand me the other bottle please."

"Are you sure, Lisa? Do you even drink?" The utter amusement seeping into his words didn't escape her.

"What do you take me for, Kook?" She whined at his teasing tone. "Of course, I do."

He opened the wine bottle and passed it to her. "Drink this, it's strawberry-flavored."

"Oh, it's my favorite!" She grinned at Bangtan's youngest before raising her bottle towards him, "cheers!"

Halfway through her wine bottle, Lisa could already feel the effects of the alcohol in her system.

Twice's Dance the Night Away resounded from the bluetooth speakers and the girl couldn't help but bop to the music. It just seemed appropriate to blast this particular song at the moment, with them living in this piece of paradise that she, more often than not, fails to appreciate.

Lisa danced to the song like a little girl on Christmas morning. Meanwhile, Jungkook watched her, a bag of salted chips in his hands and his bunny-like grin a permanent feature on his flawless face. The red, orange and yellow hues from the fire made his eyes look brighter, more alive.

Afterward, the girl flopped down on the sand beside him, tired from her dancing, and they continued drinking to the songs of their idol friends. She then closed her eyes for a moment: revelling in the warm, fuzzy feeling in her stomach.

A soft touch against her cheek brought her back to reality. Lisa opened her eyes to see a pair of gorgeous doe orbs staring back at her.

"You're blushing..." the boy uttered softly, his hand now cupping the side of her face. "Are you feeling okay?"

"Never better," she told him. Lisa loved the feel of his hand on her.

Satisfied with her answer, Jungkook went back to drinking his wine in silence. It amazed Lisa how they could have such comfortable silences like this now, as if they had known each other for years and not just mere days.

After a long while, he faced her again with a lazy smile. "Lisa, I'm bored. Why don't we play a game?"

"What do you have in mind?"

A smirk made its way to his lips. "How 'bout we play a game of Twenty Questions?"

"What's that? I don't think I've played it before."

"It's pretty self-explanatory," he said, "we have ten questions for each other and we need to answer them alternately."

The game sounded pretty boring. "That's it?"

"Yeah, there are rules though. First, we can't repeat the questions that have been asked already and second, we need to answer each question truthfully. No bullshit allowed."

No bullshit, eh? "This sounds quite intense," she nodded at him, "okay, let's do it. Get ready to spill all of your dirty little secrets, Kook."

"We'll see about that." Jungkook's booming laughter echoed across the beach before they shook each other hand's for formality's sake. "Ladies first..."

The girl shook her head in disagreement. "It's your idea! You should go first."

"Alright, for my first question," the boy held her stare with his beautiful twinkling eyes, "did you hear me in the shower this morning?"
