Useless Paper Boats
A/N: Hey, this is my first FanFic!*one person cheers* this was inspired by my friend, because in class my friend and I were making a ton of paper boats (our goal is 407 by tomorrow) and I was thinking how cute it would be as a Hamilton FanFic. Let's get into the story.
I was sitting in class; I had already finished my work for today and didn't have anything to do. I gaze around the room analyzing every detail from the walls to the carpet when my eyes land on my crush/table partner, John, furiously folding paper then stacking it into a large pile. I look closer to see that they are boats; tiny paper boats. Suddenly, he stands up and walks over to our friend, Herc, throws the tiny boats at him, and sits back down. I was completely confused. Why spend so much time making the origami to just throw it? Then I see Herc and our other friend, Laf, pick them up, count them, and then stack them neatly. What is going on?
"Hey, John what are you doing?" I ask, somehow making it sound flirtatious.
"Oh..." He sounded a little flustered. "I'm making 407 boats for Herc, he wanted me to make them for some reason." His cheeks were tinted pink, and only then did I realize so were mine.
"Do they serve a purpose?" I questioned, to save myself from embarrassment.
"No, not really. I guess they're useless." He responds, becoming a little more comfortable.
"Well, can I help with these useless boats?" All while having this conservation his fingers are a blur folding the paper into perfect shapes, just like himself. What am I thinking, thinking those thoughts around him? I silently scolded myself.
"Sure, I would love the help! Do you know how to make them?" He says inquisitively.
"No." I say sheepishly.
"Not a big deal," he says dismissively. "I can teach you!"
I lean in close so I can better see what he is doing to the paper. Almost close enough to ki- nope, I need to stop that thought right there! No, nope, no, nope, no, nope, no!
I grab a sticky note of my own and attempt to make a boat; with John coaching me through the entire thing.
"Okay fold there...and there... open the middle...pull apart. There, your first boat is complete!" He said as if a child he was close to just learned how to ride a bike. My boat was a little lop-sided with creases that shouldn't be there, but it was still a tiny paper boat and I was proud of myself. The rest of our time passed in a blur of folding paper and meaningless chit-chat, but this was one of my happiest memories. Five minutes before class ended we ran out of sticky notes, looking down at the desk I see piles and piles of the small boats covering the table. Slowly we gather them up, giggling all the while. When we have them all, we walk over to Herc and promptly dropped them on his desk. He looked stunned.
"H-how did y-you do it so f-fast?" Herc stammered.
"Well, we worked non-stop." John and I reply at the same time.
Herc looked thoughtful for a second, then smiled as if he just came up with the best idea in the world. He dug around in the pile of boats for a little bit until he found a near-perfect one.
"Here is my best ship for the best ship." He said, handing it to us. From behind Herc, Laf fell into an uncontrollable laughing fit, and both John and I blushed.
I stagger back to my seat. I can't believe Hurc; I tell him one secret and he goes and blabs it to the one person I don't want to know about it.
I am NEVER telling him one of my secrets again.
