Chapter 5

Luke POV

After Pyro had what I thought was a panic attack, the nurse allowed us to go back to class. I was worried about Pyro but I pushed it to the back of me head once we got back to the classroom.

Mr. Wilson went on with today's lesson I watched as Pyro tried to take notes with his right hand and how difficult it was so I took his notes for him.

When it was time for science I did most of the work but let Pyro work on some of the things that wouldn't hurt him. When lunch came around he had an easy lunch he could handle but I saw the fatigue setting in and I knew he was eventually going to pass out or collapse.

Mr. Wilson reviewed today's lesson then let us relax before school was out. As we were walking out of the school I looked at Pyro and said "I'm coming with you to the hospital ok."

He looked surprised then worried. "It's ok I can go on my own." he protested with a pouty face. "I'm coming with you and that's that." "Ok." We made our way to the hospital silently.

When we got there Pyro said he had to call his dad. I stood near him and heard his conversation with his Father.

"H-hey dad." "Where are you?" "I'm at the hospital." "What for!?!" "I injured my shoulder and it needs to be checked" "Ok, Well once your done come home and are you by yourself?" "Yes sir and I'm not alone Luke is with me." "Who is Luke?" "A classmate dad." "Ok bye." "Bye." He hung up and headed for the front desk.

The lady at the desk asked us what we needed and Pyro told her that his shoulder was sprained or fractured and needed to get checked. She told us to sit down and a doctor would be with us.

After waiting a doctor called out Pyro's name and told us to follow him. When we got int the room, he told Pyro to sit on the check up chair and told Pyro to remove his shirt to check his shoulder.

The doctor inspected Pyro's shoulder and concluded that it'd need and x-ray. "Come with me Pyro and we'll get that shoulder x-rayed." "Can Luke come along?" The doctor looked at me then at Pyro who looked paler than usual and shook his head yes.

We followed Dr. Thompson who told Pyro to get dressed in that gown thing that shows your entire backside including your butt.

While we were walking I stole a few glances at Pyro's but then looked back at Pyro. He looked scared and I had just noticed he was grabbing at my shirt and arm.

When we entered the X-ray room Dr. Thompson told Pyro to stand in front of the contraption while he adjusted the dials to fit the right measurements needed. Pyro looked at me pleadingly as if he didn't want to be there but I knew it was for the best.

Dr. Thompson turned to Pyro with the machine ready and pressed a button. "All done here so let's head back and wait for the results to be printed." We went back to the room and he said for us to sit down while he went to check on the development of the x-ray.

I noticed Pyro was fidgeting as I sat in the chair across from the check up chair. I slowly got up and sat next to him then wrapped my arm around his waist pulling him closer to me so his head landed on my shoulder.

Pyro blushed deeply and his ears flattened as he stuttered, "L-Luke what a-are you doing?" "Nothing just comforting you since I have a feeling you don't like hospitals." "C-can we l-leave now? please!" "Yes but after the doctor comes back and says we can." "Mhm."

We waited a few minutes and the doctor returned saying that his arm was only sprained and it would hurt for a while. "A way you can reduce the pain would be to wear a heating-cooling pad on your shoulder." He went to one of the cabinets and pulled out the pad which he handed to me and said to put it on Pyro then we could head towards the exit.

After doing as he said we got our stuff and head out. We were heading home when Pyro hugged me tightly and kissed my cheek blushing as he stepped back. "Th-thank you for taking me to the hospital." "No problem now let's hurry up."

I watched Pyro as he went into his house then headed towards my own home. As I entered I heard something crashing coming from the kitchen. I quickly took off my shoes and ran into the kitchen.

What I saw was horrifying. My dad was standing above my mother with my older brother Jake trying to stop my father while my older sister Erin was trying to help mom.

Mom was bleeding from a wound in her head. "Let me go damn it! I want to kill that woman that has been trying to break up this family!" He shouted. "What the hell is going on!?!" I hollered feeling shocked and slightly angry.

My dad quickly looked at me and I saw nothing but hatred. I slowly approached my mother and Erin. Dad continued yelling about 'Not helping the škänk cause she'll only ruin us like she already has'. I ignored him and help lead mom out while Jake tries to calm dad down.

We set mom on the couch and Erin told me to stay with her while she got the first-aid kit. I asked mom if she'd let me see her wound and she allowed it so I looked at her head and what I saw wasn't a good sign. She was starting to bleed heavily while there was a gash in her head.

"Erin!! Forget the first-aid, we need to take mom to the hospital NOW!!!" I hastily pick mom up and carry her to the car not caring how light she is in my arms. I set her in the back seat and fastened her in.

I get in on the other side after making sure Erin has the keys. I pulled out my cell phone and called the hospital letting them know we were on our way.
