Chapter twenty one- Alex, you have a serious case of the demons

I was pushed down into a small hole dug into the earth, with George and Charles guarding me. Why? I don't know. Where? The smallest island in the lake. When? The sun is starting to set over the horizon. What? I don't know. I sighed, still confused at what was going on.

I just wanted to be with John, I wanted to finally get the taste of Jefferson off my lips, I wanted to be fifteen miles away from him. I had this sudden mental break down as reality hit me like a bus. Jefferson kissed me again. All the memories flashed through my head of my first kiss, the one down in the dungeons. That was so long ago, but felt like yesterday now as the memories flooded my brain.

I shivered in the cold, it was definitely cold enough to snow. I huddled into a small ball, chattering my teeth together, thinking of John.

"What the-" Charles started to say, but was cut off.

I sat up and looked around quickly. Charles was gone. I stood up, climbing out of the hole. George was gone too.

"John?" I whispered into the quietness.

I suddenly heard the hooves of a horse and I spun around to see John atop a large skeleton like horse with bat wings. It was a gray color, and made normal horse noises, with a small layer of skin tightly wrapped around the bones.

"What is that?" I asked, reaching out with my hand towards the creature.

"A thestral. You can see it?" John asked. "I can't. Its invisible to me. Makes it hard to fly on."

"Why?" I asked curiously.

"We can't talk now, get on, we have to leave," John said urgently, reaching down with his hand.

I accepted his hand, and he pulled me up onto the thestral.

"Where do you think you're going?" I heard a threatening voice ask.

I turned to see Jefferson, some blood dripping form his nose. Now that I thought about it, I could hear shouts and screams echoing through the trees. There where bright flashes of light form spells being cast as well.

"I'm leaving with my boyfriend," John said.

"No, my fiancé, and you aren't leaving," Jefferson hissed.

"Wait, you never proposed t-"

"Yes, we are," John interrupted me.

Suddenly Jefferson flicked out his wand and pointed it at John.

"Imperio!" Jefferson shouted.

Imperio was a forbidden curse, along with Crucio. Whoever the spell was cast on, they would obey the every command of the wizard who cast the spell. It was very against the law. John dodged the spell by jumping off his thestral. He rolled on the ground, and took out his wand too.

"Expelliarmus!" John shouted as his wand was pointed at Jefferson.

Expelliarmus was a completely normal spell that was not against the law, it simply made the opponents wand fly form their hand. I had used it on Aaron a while ago. Right when John said the word, a blast of red light flew at Jefferson.

"Avada Kedavra!" Jefferson shouted.

Now that escalated VERY quickly and unnecessarily. That was the most unforgivable curse of all. Get hit by it, and its instant death. Jefferson's blast of green light met with Johns red light, and they clashed together, sparks flying through the air. I worked up enough courage to jump off the thestral, and draw my own wand.

I looked from Jefferson to John a couple times, a panic attack slowly forming. What was I supposed to do? I took a deep breath, then pointed my wand towards Jefferson. That's when I felt something knock into me, and I felt my body fly through the sky, then crash into a tree. I slid down the truck and hit the ground, screaming in pain.

I was able to push myself up, and look around. I saw James Madison step out from the darkness of the trees, the bright red and green lights from the duel going on illuminated the island. Apart from other brightly colored flashes from other duels or spells flying through the sky.

"Don't hurt him!" Jefferson and John shouted at the same time.

James stopped for a moment, glancing at both the people dueling. That's when something screaming rammed into him. I realized it was Peggy. She threw him at a tree, using nothing but her hands, then ran towards me.

"The main mission is getting you to safety," Peggy said, grabbing my hand and pulling me into the woods.

"But I have to get to John," I said.

Suddenly Peggy fell to the ground, frozen.

"Peggy?" I asked her.

She must have been hit with a spell, she was completely frozen, like the one John had used on Jefferson that one day. I looked at John again, who was winning the duel with Jefferson. I also saw James walking towards me.

I aimed my wand at him, which quickly went flying from my hand at the flick of James's wand and the words 'Expelliarmus'. I backed up into a tree, trying to get away from James. I suddenly heard a louder shout then all the others, and saw John running towards me, with Jefferson on the ground.

"Come on," John said, grabbing my hand.

I felt so happy already. Just my hand in his as he pulled me through the woods. Then he fell to the ground screaming in pain. I turned around to see Jefferson, blood running down his face, glaring at John.

"STOP!" I screeched as John screamed on the ground.

"Not until you come over here and stand beside me and tell your friends to surrender," Jefferson said.

"I WILL, JUST STOP!" I screamed, tears starting to form in my eyes.

John suddenly stopped screaming, and he struggled to get up to his feet. He leaned heavily on a tree, panting hard, covered in sweat and tears.

"Come here baby," Jefferson said.

This was the same as what happened weeks ago. When Jefferson had threatened John if I didn't come to him. I walked up to him quickly, then spun around, facing Johns saddened face. Jefferson smirked and pulled me close to him.

"Now tell them to end the battle and leave us alone," Jefferson said.

*~*

We all stood in a line, John's team facing us, about ten feet away. I stood awkwardly close to Jefferson.

"This was foolish, he is my fiancé, and all that we got here are five hurt people and hatred," Jefferson was said.

"Hes not your fiancé!" John shouted. "Lexi, come here. Get away form him. Don't hide it any longer, its not worth your misery to hide it, just come."

"Hide what?" Jefferson asked.

I knew what he was talking about. My meta powers. He wanted me to use them, in front of all these people?

"Come on, its worth it. You can't be held in his dirty grasp any longer," John said.

Hes right. It is worth it. Maybe I can get Jefferson away from me forever. I wanted that so badly. I looked at Jefferson, an evil glint in my eyes. Something was overcoming me, some evil instinct.

"You aren't getting away from me," Jefferson taunted, tightening his grip on both my hands.

I looked him in the eyes, then suddenly grabbed his arm, and bit into it. It felt so satisfying, my teeth sinking into his soft flesh. I slowly grew my teeth into large fangs, the fangs of a mountain lion. Jefferson screamed in pain. Charles ran towards me and tried to force me away, but I gave myself a large dragon tail and smacked him away into a tree.

Screams erupted from the crowd. Now that I was harming someone, an evil me came out. I wanted to do more harm. I wanted him the suffer the most possible. I wanted to murder him. The sudden urge to cause pain overwhelmed me. It felt so good to watch Jefferson suffer.

I clawed him with vicious talons, blood poured on the ground. It felt so good.

"Lexi, come on," John said, and I felt his hand on my shoulder, he sounded slightly scared of me.

I didn't let go of him. I kept clawing at his arms and chest, until Jefferson's screams stopped, and he fell to the ground, unconscious. I turned around, wanting more blood. I saw Charles, still dizzy from when I slammed him into the tree with my tail. I stomped towards him, licking my lips like a maniac.

"Alex!" John said, not following me.

I grabbed Charles by the collar and held him up against a tree, glaring into his eyes. Even though I was much smaller then him, I could still pick him up, I probably gave myself some extra strength or something.

"P-please don't kill me," Charles pleaded, he was crying.

I smirked at him, then bared my long sharp teeth. He shouted in fear. I bit hard into his shoulder and he screamed. I loved that scream. The scream of pain, fear, the scream meaning they would do anything to get free of my grasp. I smashed my head, which I made as hard as a rock, into Charles's face. He crumpled to the grass, unconscious.

I turned around, looking for another person to attack. All of Jefferson's team had already evacuated, and only John, Lafayette, Hercules and the Schuylers remained on the island. All the Hufflepuffs ran to help out Jefferson and Charles, to see if they where alive. Everyone else had fear written all over their faces, staring at me through the faint sunlight.

I walked towards them, wiping blood from my mouth. Still a hungry look in my eyes as I glared at Jefferson's body in the dark grass. Then the evil surge randomly melted away. I gasped at Jefferson's body, a tear rolled down my cheek. John ran up to me, about to hold my hand.

"L-look what I did! I'm a monster!" I suddenly shrieked, moving away from John.

What had happened to me? Why did I do that? Jefferson's body, covered in blood, laid on the grass. I felt tears rolling down my cheeks. I did that? Why? I'm such a monster!

"Alex, its okay, hes not dead, he was a bad person, come here," John said, reaching out his hand towards me.

"N-No stay away," I said, backing up towards a tree.

"Lexi I love you. You're not a monster. Please come," John pleaded as I cried.

So much things to process. I couldn't handle it. Jefferson's body. All the blood. John. Charles's body. The battle. I couldn't think straight. My only clear thought was to get away from John, to protect him from myself. What if that... demon me comes out again? What if I hurt him?

"Lexi calm down, please, come with me," John said.

John suddenly started moving towards me. I walked backwards, and ended up cornered against a tree. He was so much taller then me.

"Alexander Hamilton," John said sternly, his hands on my shoulders.

I stared into his eyes. He didn't look scared anymore. He looked determined.

"You are no monster. You are someone who can stand up for themselves, and maybe can get a bit carried away. We can fix that. You are loved, you are okay, you did nothing wrong," John said, glaring into my eyes.

I shuffled my shoulders so he would let go, but he kept a firm grip.

"I-I'm so scared," I finally said after a long silence, my voice wavy as tears streaked down my face.

John pulled me into a tight, loving hug. I wrapped my arms around him too, sobbing into his scarf.

"John, we will all take Jefferson and Charles back to Hogwarts. You two will be alone, that okay?" Hercules asked.

"Yeah," John mumbled.

He still trusts me. Hes willing to stay here alone with me. Even after I did... that, to Jefferson and Charles. No, I'm still a monster. I'll always be a monster. By now, the entire school knows I'm a monster. I sighed to myself, letting go of John.

I slowly slid down the rough bark of the tree and plopped down in the frost covered grass. I put my face in my hands and continued to cry, my breath was now visible as the temperature dropped.

John bent down and sat across from me, only a couple centimetres away. He put his hands on my face, staring into my eyes. His hands felt so warm on my cheeks. I was instantly comforted. He pulled my face close to mine, and then our lips met.

And as we kissed under the trees, snow began to fall.

(A/N AWWWWW how perfectly adorable. Now I was going to end the book on this chapter but... I'm still thinking about it, should I?)
