Chapter twenty five- Its potion time!
(A/N MANY MANY time skips. The chapter actually was going to be called "HoNeY WhErE ArE ThE KiDs", but I thought this title made more sense. BTW totally forgot to include that all of them have British accents except for Alexander and Lafayette. OOPS. Also I barely edited my grammar for this one so my grammar will be extra bad i this chapter)
I woke up to the sound of a camera. I blinked open my eyes to some Ravenclaws snickering at me. They noticed they saw me and sprinted off. What now? I asked myself. I looked to my right. Oh, that's what. Alex was there, my arms wrapped around him, his face a centimeter away from mine. I pushed myself up and away from him.
He mumbled something in his sleep, and a frown appeared on his face. I unraveled my arms from him, then slid off the bed. I looked around the room, yawning. It was such a nice dorm. I then remembered about the eggs.
I ran over towards the thick blanket, and peered inside. They where all gone. Only Pita and Pip remained. Pip was curled around Pita, sleeping next to her egg. I began to panic. I'm such a bad grandparent! I just let the eggs disappear! I needed to get them back before Alex woke up, or I was dead for sure.
I looked around for suspicious things, and only ended up with a small peace of hair. I examined the hair, wishing I had Sherlock Holmes right now. Alright. Figure out how this happened before Alex wakes up. Can't be that hard.... right? I realized this was nearly impossible... Without a highly skilled assistant.
*~*
"HMMmMMmMMMMmMmMMmMmM Interesting," Peggy said, looking through a magnifying glass at the hair.
Yes. Peggy is my super skilled assistant. She is now the only person besides me and Alex who know about Pip and her eggs.
I sat next to Alex on the bed, gently petting his hair. Peggy was crouched in the corner where Pip was squawking loudly. Poor Pip. She was going crazy. When Pip woke up, she slithered around the entire dorm, flew around the ceiling, flew to the Hufflepuff common room just to look around, and now she was panicking while curled around her last egg.
"I think we make Polyjuice Potion, put the hair in it and drink it. Whoever we turn into is the culprit," Peggy decided.
"Sure, whatever. Just do it quick before he wakes up," I said.
"Its not really something you can brew quickly. It takes a month," Peggy said, turning towards me.
"Well then we should speed it up!" I said.
"How?" Peggy asked. "Oh wait a moment..."
"What?" I asked.
"TIME TURNER!" Peggy shouted.
"Whats that?" I asked.
"Its a device that allows you to travel back in time," Peggy said, starting to pace. "If we start brewing the potion a month ago, it would be ready today."
"That... is actually pretty smart," I commented.
"We could ask for it from Eliza," Peggy said, stroking an invisible beard. "She has one. Dad gave it to her as a present."
"Then lets go!" I said, jumping to my feet.
"We need a bigger team," Peggy said. "To gather ingredients, start brewing, and such. We need it all done at once."
"Then lets get us a team," I said, smirking.
*~*
"So it needs to be brewed for a month?" Eliza asked. "How are we g- Oh."
"Yeah," Peggy said, nodding.
"GOT IT! I Went into the how you say... restricted section of the library for this," Lafayette said, running into the room with a book.
"Gimme," Angelica said, snatching the book from him.
"Rude," Lafayette said.
"Ingredients: Lacewing flies, which is stewed for twenty one days, Leeches, Powdered Bicorn horn, Knotgrass, Fluxweed picked at full moon and Shredded Boomslang skin," Angelica read.
"Crap," Hercules said.
"Part one, step one. Add three measures of fluxweed to the cauldron. Add two bundles of Knotgrass to the cauldron. Stir four times, clockwise. Wave your wand then let potion brew for eighty minutes," Angelica kept reading.
"Well, I say we all get ingredients first. Then we rendezvous back here, and go back in time to do the instructions," Peggy said.
"Alright. Who wants to get what? I'll travel back to the last full moon and pick the fluxweed," Eliza said.
"I can get Leeches," Hercules said.
"I'll do knotgrass," Lafayette said.
"Me and Angelica can get powdered bicorn horn," Peggy said.
"I can get the shredded boomslang skin," I said.
"Then I'm going back for the Lacewing flies. Which have to be brewed for twenty one days first. So what if you bring me way back in time, I'll get the flies and start brewing. Then rendezvous back here once they are ready," Aaron said.
"Perfect," We all agreed.
"Everyone stick your head in this chain, I'll drop you all off where you need to go in the past. Aaron, I'll pick you up right here once your brewing is done," Eliza said.
"Sounds good," Aaron gave a thumbs up.
"Why are we doing this again?" Lafayette asked.
Peggy and I looked at each other. We had to come up with a really convincing excuse.
"Fun?" I said.
"Good enough for me," Lafayette said.
This was going to be quite the adventure.
*~*
I quietly peeked into the potion masters room. Professor Snape would be so pissed if he caught me. I snuck into the room, quickly shutting the door behind me. It was a small room, with tall walls. Filled with jars full of potion ingredients.
I climbed up a wooden latter leaning against the wall. The latter had wheels at the top, so I slowly moved through the ingredients from half ways up the latter, pushing against the walls to move. I finally spotted a small jar pilled with green and purple dried boomslang skin. It was really disturbing looking.
I grabbed the jar, took out the contents, stuffed them in my pocket, then put the jar back. I slid off the latter, put the latter in its original position where I had found it, then peeked out the door again. I didn't see anyone in the hallways, so i quickly slid through the door, shutting it behind me.
I turned towards the Ravenclaw common room, and started to walk down the hall as if nothing was wrong.
"Laurens," I heard someone say.
I turned around to see Thomas Jefferson. He was holding Alex's hand as they walked down the hallway together. Alex looked terrible. Remember what Eliza said. If you must interact with a person, barely talk.
"Jefferson," I nodded at him.
I had gone back to about the first week of school. I was surprised Alex was with Jefferson this early in the year.
"What kind of prank is this? I just say you a minute ago walking the opposite direction," Jefferson said.
"Oh um, yeah. That was nothing, just walked... really fast," I said.
"Hes suspicious, right Babe?" Jefferson said.
Alex nodded slightly, avoiding Jefferson's eye contact. I wanted to punch Jefferson so badly right now, I wanted to save Alex from the suffering he would feel for the next month. But that would mess with the timeline, I didn't want to risk our happy ending.
"I'll be on my way," I said, walking past them.
I cast a glance back at Alex. He was staring at me over his shoulder, his look pleading and pitiful. It took everything in my power to look away. I kept reminding myself that he was sleeping peacefully in his bed right now, still a very messy braid left in his hair because he had been to lazy to remove the hair tie.
It was so hard for me though, he looked so miserable. I shook my head, clearing my thoughts, and continued towards the Ravenclaw common room.
"HAHA!" I heard someone shout.
Freaking hedgehogs. It was Hercules. I dived for a random classroom, quickly opening and closing the door once I was safe inside. I looked around, realizing I didn't recognize the room. I listened through the door as Hercules, me and Lafayette talked, their voices slowly fading away as they walked down the hallway.
I took a deep breath, then left the room down the hallway.
*~*
"Perfect!" Peggy said.
All the ingredients where set out no a long table in the Room of Requirement.
"Alright, lets do this," Eliza said, popping her knuckles.
We where back in time a month. Everyone was here, and had just put there ingredients on the table. We all had a quick visit to the present, just to make sure nothing weird happened because of what we messed with in the past. Only thing strange was that everyone I ended up communicating with kept making jokes about Snape.
Apparently when I stole my ingredient, something had happened, and caused everyone to make fun f the professor. This caused him to be way more strict and now potions class was two times harder. Woops.
I got to check on Alex in the present, too. He was still sleeping, only difference about him was that his hair tie was green instead of black like how it had previously been, and there was a small cactus on his bedside table. I was going to ask him about it later.
"Part one, step one. Add three measures of fluxweed to the cauldron. Add two bundles of Knotgrass to the cauldron. Stir four times, clockwise. Wave your wand then let potion brew for eighty minutes," Angelica read, just as she had before we left.
Eliza grabbed the fluxweed and split it into three measures, putting them into the cauldron on our table. Hercules added the knotgrass as well, and Peggy started to stir the potion four times clockwise. She then waved her wand, and we all sat down to let it brew for eighty minutes.
"Want to just go in the future eighty minutes?" Lafayette suggested.
"Yeah, I'm to lazy to wait," Aaron agreed.
*~*
"Part two, step two. Add one additional scoop of lacewings to the cauldron. Stir three times counter-clockwise. Split potion into multiple doses, if desired, then add the pieces of the person you wish to become. Wave your wand to complete the potion," I read in my British accent because everyone here has a British accent because there at Hogwarts, which is in BRITAIN.
We where now just a day before present time, finishing up everything. Aaron dumped the last scoop of lacewings into the cauldron, he was quite proud of the lacewings he collected. Peggy stirred the potion three times counter-clockwise, and tossed in the mysterious hair.
The potion made some weird noises, changed in color and other strange potion-like things.
"NOT IT!" Peggy screeched.
"Not it!" Everyone else shouted.
Lafayette stood there, reading part of the book. We all stared at him. He set down the book.
"What?" He asked in his french accent.
"You gotta drink it," Peggy said.
It took a moment for him to process what just happened.
"Oh you did the how you say... not it?" Lafayette asked.
"Yes, now drink up!" Peggy said, scooping up a cup of the liquid.
Lafayette cringed at the sight of the potion. It was a disgusting muddy brown. A couple bubbles rose to the top of the cup them popped, like tar. Lafayette reached out and grabbed the cup from Peggy. He slowly raised to to his mouth, plugging his nose with one hand.
Then he took a sip.
