Chapter 47: Sleepover Pt.2

After we had a ton of ice cream and got super hyper, Jessica and I began to feel a little tired, so we both went and changed into pyjamas. Afterwards, we went to her bedroom, since Ryan was going to go to bed.

We just kind of hung out around her room, chatting and playing around. I think both of us were trying to see how long we could stay up, but that didn't last long, because we ended up crashing after about an hour.

Jessica's POV

Both Aaliyah and I crashed, falling asleep in the weirdest positions possible. I guess we were just really exhausted.

I was sleeping really well and everything, until I heard Aaliyah crying out in her sleep.

I quickly jumped awake, looking at her.

She was sweating and trembling, with a look of fear on her face.

"No!" She cried. "Please, Stop!"

I gasped, going over to her. I shook her little. "Aaliyah, wake up!" I Said. "Aaliyah.."

She wasn't waking up, and she just kept crying and shaking. I didn't know what to do, so I just shook her a little more.

"Aaliyah, please wake up!" I called again.

When that didn't work, I stood up, stumbling out of my room and beginning to make my way to Ryan's room.

Ryan might know what to do. He was used to me getting anxiety attacks, and he's always comforted me and made me feel better.

I rushed down the hall and burst into Ryan's bedroom, going over and shaking him. He woke up, looking at me worriedly.

"Jessica...What's wrong?" He asked sleepily.

"It's Aaliyah!" I Said. "She's having a nightmare, and I can't wake her up. I don't know what to do!"

Ryan didn't say a word, but quickly got out of bed, pretty much running down the hall and into my room.

I followed him inside, and He went over to Aaliyah, shaking her a little.

"Aaliyah, wake up.." he said.

She continued to cry out, and Ryan lifted her up, hugging her tightly and rocking her back and forth.

"Shhh, everything's okay.." he told her, as she began to wake up.

Tears streamed down her face as she looked around, swallowing.

"R-Ryan?" She Asked quietly.

"I'm right here.." he said softly. "Are you okay?"

She nodded a little. "I'm sorry if I woke you.."

She broke away from his hug, running her hand through her hair.

"Hey, it's okay.." Ryan reached over and rubbed her arm gently.

I swallowed, going over and sitting beside her on the bed. "Are you sure you're okay?"

She nodded. "Yeah, I am.." She mumbled.

Aaliyah's POV

I didn't end up sleeping for the rest of the night, for various reasons.

For one, I felt terrible that Ryan had to come in and calm me down like that.

Especially when that was the worst nightmare I had had in a really long time.

I began to wonder if I should mention the therapist thing to Chris. I mean, if I could work through my pain and worry, maybe I'd stop having nightmares.

Then things would go back to normal.

When the sun came up in the morning, I was already awake, but Jessica began to stir.

I went over to her, shaking her a little.

"Wakey-wakey, Jess." I Said, and she looked at me.

"Good morning." She mumbled, rubbing her eyes.

"Good morning." I replied.

She sat for a moment, before realising something.

"Oh! It's your birthday!" She Said, sitting up. "Happy birthday, Aaliyah!"

She hugged me, and I hugged her back.

"Thank you." I Said.

Suddenly, the door bust open, and Ryan came in.

"Happy birthday!" He exclaimed.

"Ryan!" Jessica scolded. "We could've been changing!"

His eyes widened. "Oh, I'm sorry!"

He stepped out the door, shutting it, before knocking.

Jessica rolled her eyes jokingly. "Come In."

Ryan burst into the room again. "Happy birthday, Aaliyah!"

I laughed. "Thank you, Ryan."

"Alright," he clapped his hands together. "I made pancakes."

"Awesome!" Jessica Exclaimed.

"Then after we eat, we can all get dressed and head back to your place." He said, looking over at me. "Is that Okay?"

"Yeah!" I Said.

"Alright, let's go get pancakes!" He said, before jogging out of the room.

Jessica laughed a little. "Sorry, my brother's kinda hyper in the morning." She Said.

"Oh, you should see my dad." I laughed. "He's hyper all of the time."

We both got up, leaving her room and beginning to walk to the kitchen.

She stretched, yawning a little. "Gosh, I slept really well.." she said. "What about you?"

I bit my lip, before faking a smile. "I slept really well, too." I lied.

When we got into the kitchen, we both made our way over to the counter, where Ryan set down a couple of plates with pancakes.

"Yay!" Jessica Exclaimed as we both sat down.

"Thanks, Ryan!" I Said.

"No problem." He smiled.

We began to eat our pancakes in mostly silence, when Ryan's phone suddenly rang.

"Oh," he quickly chewed and swallowed the bite of pancake that was in his mouth, before picking his phone up from the counter. He pressed answer and brought it to his ear. "Hey. Oh...an extra two hours?"

He walked into the other room, and Jessica looked at me.

"I wonder what that's about." She Said.

We both shrugged, before going back to eating.

"You're brother makes good pancakes." I mumbled through a mouth of food.

"Eh, they're okay." She shrugged. "You just like them because the Ryan Tedder made them."

I blushed, and she laughed.

"I'm kidding!" She laughed. "You just seem rather star struck by him, that's all."

"I mean, I've been listening to OneRepublic for almost as long as I've been listening to Coldplay.." I Said quietly. "They're one of the bands that gave me hope in my darkest times."

She smiled a little. "You should tell Ryan that," She Said. "I think it would mean a lot to him."

I shook my head. "No...it's too embarrassing." I mumbled. "Besides, We'll be going back to my house in a little bit."

"So...Change of plans." Ryan Walked Into the room.

"Good timing." Jessica mumbled.

"We're gonna hang out here a little while longer." Ryan continued. "Or Maybe we can go to the park or something?"

Jessica gave her brother a look.

"What? You guys don't do the park anymore?" He asked.

"Not since we were seven." Jessica stated. "What about video games?"

"I was thinking it'd be nice to get outside." Ryan Said, before looking at me. "But it's Aaliyah's birthday, so What do you want to do?"

What did I want to do? I absolutely hated making decisions like this. I always felt that if I said what I wanted to do, I'd let somebody else down because they wanted to do something else.

I guess we did play video games last night, and it would be fun to go outside for a bit.

"I mean, going outside would be nice.." I Said quietly. "If you guys want to do that, of course.."

"It's your birthday, Aaliyah." Jessica smiled at me.

"Alright, I'll go change, then." Ryan Said.

"We should do the same." Jessica nodded.

The three of us went to change out of our pyjamas, and I put on a pair of jeans and my new OneRepublic T-shirt.

After slipping on my shoes, I re-packed my suitcase so we could load it into the car, before making my way out of Jessica's bedroom.

"Ready to go?" Ryan Asked as he slipped on his own shoes in the living room.

"Yep." I smiled at him, rolling my suitcase over to the front door.

He looked around. "Where's Jessica?"

"I think she's still changing." I Said, setting my suitcase by the door and walking into the living room. I pointed to the spot on the couch beside him. "May I?"

He smiled. "Of course."

I sat down, running my hand through my hair.

Ryan laughed a little, looking down at my shirt. "I love that shirt," he said. "Where'd you get it?"

I laughed. "From some guy named Ryan."

He laughed as well, before finishing tying his shoes.

"So, I was thinking.." he said. "Maybe we could go down to the beach and walk around?"

"I love the beach!" I Said. "That sounds great."

"Awesome." He smiled at me, before I looked away.

I looked down at my feet, biting my lip as things went silent.

I still felt really bad for having woken him last night. And I especially felt bad that he had to calm me down.

I sighed a little, and he looked at me curiously. "You okay?"

"Yeah.." I mumbled. "I'm...really sorry."

"For what?" He Asked gently.

"For last night...waking you and all.." I sighed. "And I'm sorry that you had to calm me down. That's not your job.."

"Hey...it's really okay." He said. "I'm...used to it, actually.."

I looked up at him, and he gave me a weak smile.

"Jessica's probably told you.." he Said. "She has anxiety. It used to get pretty bad, and I always had to help her through it. So I really don't mind, really."

I smiled a little at him, before looking back down at my feet. "Thank you." I mumbled. "I mean, for everything. Your music has always been so amazing to me.."

"Thank you, that really means a lot." He said, smiling at me.

I looked down a bit, brushing my hair behind my ear.

Just then, Jessica walked in.

"Are you guys ready to go?" She Asked.

"Yep!" Ryan Said, standing up.

I stood up as well, and we all made our way over to the door.

I went to go grab my suitcase, but Ryan grabbed it before I could.

"I'll get it." He chuckled a little.

I laughed. "Thanks."

We all went outside, and Jessica took a deep breath.

"It's a beautiful morning." She Said, before looking over at me. "I'm glad you chose to come outside."

I smiled a little, breathing in the fresh morning air as well as we walked over to the car.

Jessica and I got in while Ryan put my suitcase in the trunk, both getting buckled in before he came around and got in himself.

He buckled in, looking back. "Seatbelts on?"

"Yep!" Jessica Exclaimed.

"Alright, then let's go!" He Exclaimed, causing Jessica and I to laugh as he pulled out of the driveway.
