im pretty sure ive kept this on the downlow but: i freaking LOVE mob psycho 100. it quickly became one of the best anime ive ever seen, dude.

i tried to watch one punch man. it was pretty good, i guess? i watched like 5 or 6 episodes until something messed up with the dvr and i just didn't bother to keep watching it online

but...mob psycho was different for me. i immediately felt a connection with it. i didnt relate to the jaded, bored saitama. but the socially awkward mob that had trouble with emotions had me relating to and sympathizing with him. the whole "mob internalizes his feelings until they reach a breaking point and he explodes" really struck a cord with me

now im going to go on and state it: ONE's art...isnt that nice. it's a weird, kinda off-puting  style (especially in the early manga, the anime looks better visually speaking), but it just works for mob psycho. it adds to the weird atmosphere and just makes the jokes funnier.

the show just has such a good message: "what youre born with doesn't define your worth, its what you do with your life." the villains of the show are entitled brats that think the world owes them something just cause they hit the lottery when it comes to psychic powers. mob, meanwhile, wants to improve himself and not mindlessly rely on his godlike powers.

one part i really liked was the telepathy club bit. mob was given the choice to join the telepathy club, a standard, rather cliche "do nothing uwu" anime high school club you've seen 500 times. i knew how this was gonna go, mob was gonna join, and that would frame the show. but then...mob joins the body improvement club bc he knows hes physically weak and wants to make himself better. that REALLY subverted my expectations and really make the show for me.

and reigen?? he could have been a comically mean boss to mob but like...he really cares for him?? and actually gives him beneficial advice and shapes his strong morals???? reigen is mob's morality chain and makes him the kind, convicted person he is.

everything about mp100 is amazing and it is perhaps THE best anime ive ever seen.
