CHAPTER TWO
The next day Alex woke up to not his alarm clock, but Corey's-his roommate-alarm clock. He groaned and sat up, looking over at his side of the room to see that Corey wasn't even there.
"Stupid alarm clock." He threw a pillow over at the alarm clock, the impact making the clock fall off of Corey's nightstand that was by his bed and onto the floor. Luckily the alarm stopped buzzing.
"Thank goodness." Alex mumbled and laid back down, pulling the covers over his head.
"That was supposed to wake you up, not me." He hears a familiar voice complain. "Maybe I should pour cold water on you for payback." Alex didn't need to look out from the comfort of his covers to know that was Corey.
Alex whined as his covers were pulled back and then let out a yell when he felt cold water being poured on him and he immediately sat up. "Dude!" He glared at Corey. Corey stood by his bed with a now empty cup and he was laughing.
"I had to wake you up somehow." Corey chuckles, setting the empty glass on the nightstand table by the right side of Alex's bed. "You're supposed to be helping your brother and his jerk of a girlfriend with welcoming the VKs."
"Yes, Audrey is a jerk." Alex agrees, pushing away his now wet hair out of his eyes. "And I hate to believe that one day she might be my sister in law." He shudders, disgusted by the thought of Audrey being included in his family one day. Then his eyes widened when he realized something and panic formed on his face.
"I'm supposed to be there when the VKs arrive!" He exclaimed and quickly got out of his bed. He pushed Corey to the side as he rushed around the room to get ready.
"That's what I just said!" Corey exclaimed and raised his arms up in frustration.
After Alex dried off, he got dressed. Today he decided on wearing a blue t-shirt, black jeans with chains attached to them, a black leather jacket, and black boots along with black bracelets.
(this is his outfit i made on shoplook.io)
He quickly walked out of his room and out of the hall. Unfortunately, he didn't make it because once he got to the top of the stairs he saw that Ben and Audrey were in the building showing the VKs around and he groaned knowing he would be getting a stern talking to sometime about being late. Alex started to turn around to head back to his dorm seeing as it wouldn't matter of him showing up late.
"Alex! Come over here!" Ben called out.
Alex groans and mumbles, "So close." He turns back around and walks down the stairs over to where Ben was standing with Audrey and the VKs.
"This is Alex," Ben introduces the brunette-haired boy as Alex stand beside him. "My younger brother." Alex smiled politely at the four VKs and even waved at them.
Evie steps forward with a smile as she curtsies. "So, that would make you a Prince?" She asked with a hopeful glint in her eyes.
"Yeah." Alex responded, looking at her for the first time, his eyes growing wide whenever he saw her. She had beautiful blue hair with small braids. He had butterflies swarm in his stomach when she smiled at him and her smile was so pretty. He guessed by the design of her outfit she is the daughter of the Evil Queen.
"You're the daughter of the Evil Queen, right?" He already knew the answer he just wanted to speak without making a fool of himself.
Evie nods. "Yes, you're right."
"Well, it's lovely to meet you Princess..." His voice trailed off since he didn't know her name.
The blue-haired girl giggles. "Evie." A wide smile was on her face, happy that someone thought she was a Princess.
Alex smiles at her. "It's lovely to meet you Princess Evie."
After watching their interaction with a smile, Ben turns to face each of the VKs with a smile. "If you guys need anything, anything at all you can ask-"
"Alex!" Audrey interrupted him and with a pull of his arm, she dragged him away from the group and down the hallway.
Mal rolls her eyes. "I thought everyone here was supposed to be all gumdrops and rainbows."
Alex laughs. "Well, you're wrong about that. Not everyone is like my brother."
Evie tilts her head to the side as she looks at Alex with a smile. "Maybe that's a good thing."
Alex looked over at her and he smiled, both of them looking at each other with dreamingly expressions. For a few seconds they both forgot there were other people in the room. They realized that when Jay cleared his throat to get their attention.
"We're still here." He commented, gesturing to himself and the other two beside him.
Alex and Evie quickly look away from each other, both blushing. "Right, sorry." He chuckled nervously as he rubbed the back of his neck. Evie nodded and took a step back to stand by her friends, looking down with a shy smile on her face.
"So, um, you guys probably want to go to your dorms." Alex didn't even have time to say anything else before Mal started walking up a flight of stairs, Carlos and Jay behind her. Evie followed them as well, but she looked back at Alex with a small smile and then looked forward as she went with her friends.
"Uh, the dorms are that way." Alex corrected them, pointing to the stairs next to him that he came down moments ago.
"Right, we knew that." Mal mumbled and quickly went over to the stairs near him, the other three following her.
"By the way," Evie whispers to Alex as she walks past him. "You're really cute." Evie winked at him and walked around him to the stairs. Alex stood there, frozen in his place. He was in shock, not knowing what to say. He does get flirted with a bit, but he's never used to it and is always a flustered mess when girls flirt with him, and he always hates how awkward he is when girls flirt with him.
"O-Oh. Um, uh..." Alex stuttered his face a bright red color and his heart was beating so loud he feared that they could hear it. Evie giggled, thinking he was adorable with how flustered he is, and quickly hurried up the stairs to catch up with her friends. Alex let out a breath he didn't know he was holding once the VKs were out of sight. He didn't even realize his heart was pounding and how sweaty his hands felt.
"Wow." A familiar voice spoke and Alex jumped, startled at the sudden voice. He turned around to see it was one of his best friends, Luna, daughter of Lumiere and Fifi, leaning against the other flight of stairs with her arms crossed.
Luna clicks her tongue, shaking her head. "That was sad to watch."
Alex shakes his head and crosses his arms. "Lulu, I have no idea what you are talking about."
Luna rolls her eyes and gets off the stairs. Grinning, she walks over to him. "Lex, it's obvious you like little miss Evie."
Alex scoffs, avoiding contact with the blonde. "I do not like Evie. I literally just met her. Just because she called me cute doesn't mean I like her."
Luna raises an eyebrow, noticing his red face. "Your red face says otherwise." She smiles. "I honestly think you two would be cute together."
Alex looks at her with a curious expression. "Really?" The thought of him and Evie possibly getting together made his heart skip a beat and butterflies swarm in his stomach.
Luna nods. " Yeah. I could tell that Evie likes you whenever you first locked eyes with each other." She looks at him with a teasing smile. "Total heart eyes by the way."
Alex's eyes widens and his turns a light shade of pink. "You saw that?" He nervously asked, hating how his voice cracked at the end. Luna looked at him weirdly and he cleared his throat.
"You saw that?" He repeated, saying it in a deeper voice.
Luna looks at him with an amused smile. "Yep. Very cute." Alex rolls his eyes and looks down shyly when he feels his face heat up more. "Ooh!" Luna grins excitedly. "You guys could be like Romeo and Juliet!"
Alex immediately shakes his head. "No, thanks. I don't wanna die." I don't want Evie to die either, he thought but he didn't say it out loud.
"Yeah," Luna chuckles nervously and rubs the back of her neck. "I forgot about that." The blonde-haired girl smiles. "It would be as if you two were Romeo and Juliet, without the dying!" She points at him and smirks. "And you didn't deny that you like her!"
A panicked expression forms on Alex's face. He glances around to make sure no one was nearby to hear Luna, and he grabs her wrist, pulling it down to stop her from pointing at him. "Don't point at me. And don't say stuff like that where anyone could hear you. "
Luna yanks her arm out of his grip and shrugs. "I'm just saying the truth, Lex."
"Yeah, okay." Alex sighs and turns to the stairs. "I'm gonna go."
Luna grabs the back of his shirt and yanks him back, earning a surprised yelp from the brunette-haired boy. "Where do you think you're going?" She lets go of Alex and he turns to face her with an upset expression since he was a bit mad at her for pulling him back like that. She shrugs, not apologetic for what she did. Alex rolls his eyes and crosses his arms as Luna continues. "You're not going to drown your feelings in song and hide out in your shack are you?
Alex scoffs. "No! T-That's definitely not what I'm going to do."
Luna shakes her head, noticing the way he was avoiding eye contact with her. "Lex, you're a terrible liar."

Meanwhile the four VKs separate and go find their dorms. Evie and Mal find theirs and both of their expressions are the exact opposite. Evie is in awe of the room while Mal looked disgusted.
"This is so amaz-"
"Gross." Mal interrupted Evie.
The blue-haired girl quickly nods. "Right, so amazingly gross." She corrected herself as Mal walked inside of the room. Evie grinned whenever Mal wasn't looking and she looked around the room in awe.
"Ugh, I'm gonna need so much sunscreen, E." Mal commented, walking over to one of the curtains.
Evie goes over to the other window and closes the curtains, making the room darker. "Phew, much better." Mal smiled for a split second before she looked back over at Evie, forming her lips into a tight line.
"So, are we not going to talk about the googly eyes you and the Prince shared?" She asked and Evie looked at her with confusion.
"What? What are you talking about? I wasn't looking at Ben." Evie started to ramble and Mal sent her a look.
Evie chuckles nervously and sat on one of the beds. "Oh...You-you meant Alex. We weren't staring at each other like that."
Mal rolls her eyes. "Oh, please. Anyone with eyes and a brain saw that. He looked at you with love."
Evie shrugged her shoulders and looked down shyly. She wanted to believe it, but she wasn't for sure how to feel. She has never been in love before, but she felt butterflies in her stomach when Alex smiled at her.
"Oh, I don't think so Mal." She smirks and flips some of her blue hair over her shoulder. "I am quite beautiful so maybe he was just mesmerized by my beauty." She only said that to try to convince herself that's the truth. Because why would someone like Alex like a villain kid like her?
Mal just rolled her eyes and chuckled even though she could tell that Evie was starting to like him. Evie never looked at anyone that way she looked at Alex before.
A/N I'm already starting to love alex & evie!
