Decept

My fist banged harshly against the cold, hard surface of the walls surrounding me. A single tear tempted me to let it go, mocking me as it quivered and shook in it's small encasement. Staring at the mirror, my lips parted softly; my mind refusing to register to the horror it was forced to go through. A few blotches of bruises and gashes stretched across the valley of my own orange skin. I spit out a loose tooth in dismay, ripping my glance from the broken girl that glared back at me.

It was the same one I had seen once before, the same one that had hidden and now had unearthed itself it all of its ugly glory.

"I have to make a plan." How familiar it was, me staring at blank walls, talking to myself for my own sanity's sake. It was like I had willingly let myself get dragged to square one--alone, cold, and no where to go. Would the universe ever cut me a break? For once I missed the previous Daughter's voice chiming in my head...I was so desperate for the company of anyone to the point I could imagine myself in that state of fear and confusion. My stomach made a loud protest, and I winced.

There was a soft tapping on the door near me, and the figure didn't bother asking before stepping into the excuse of a hotel room. A large, curvaceous woman twiddled a piece of food around her mouth, looking down at me in disapproval.

"Fulcrum Tanoh, am I correct?"

I lift an eyebrow, surprised and not used to the new name I had given myself.

"Yes, miss. I was only planning for staying a night...I signed myself in a couple minutes ago."

She flicked away a buzzing bug that was swirling around her pair of deep, red lips, clutching the creature in her hands. I swallowed my own disgust as she wiped the remains over her dirty uniform.

"My name is Gloknick. I am your current caretaker...If you need any food or assistance, call the droid." Her crusty features sparkled a bit as she wiggled her eyebrows. "I'm just supposed to be pretty, but the droid does the dirty work."

I could of cared less for what she spoke of, and I stared over her shoulder as her lips flapped with more small, insulting sentences. My fingers twitched as I bore a stare into the hotel room across from me. Even under the harsh accent of my "cleaning assistant", I could hear a soft whimpering from the opposing room. Out of curiosity, I brushed past her, straining to hear.

"...Who is she..."

I blinked, frowning. It was an obvious male, though it did sound young... Why was this voice so familiar? Gulping, I edged closer, only to have a grubby hand snatch at my shoulder. Out of natural defense, I closed my fingers tightly into fists. She softened her gaze, though I could tell that it was out of strain.

"Don't mind the hurt boy over there..." She licked her chapped lips, looking towards her left. It was not hard to figure she was lying straight through her pair of pearly teeth. "He's...just sad that his mistress has left him. Nothing you should concern your pretty little head on." Her voice drawled as she drew me away from the door, pressing her body against the entrance to prevent me from passing her. I let her, trying to figure out why she was being so protective.

"Anyway..I shall await if you need me to help you. Good night, Miss Ahsoka."

After a few seconds of silence, I realized that she had managed to glide her way from anymore questioning. My brain flinched as I picked away at her deception.

That man...she must have a reason to try to evade my attention from him. My interest peaked as I looked up again, wheeling myself out of the room.

That woman called me Ahsoka.
