Missing

(Hey guys, just to say I am going to be switching this story into first person permanently. I hope you don't mind. ^-^ )

I couldn't tell up from down, left from right, only the sense of falling.
"Sans! What's going on?" I called out into the darkness.

"I....I'm struggling a bit.....Teleporting five people....It's v....." replied Sans from the darkness. His voice sounded strained and tired.

"Sans! Sans!" I turn to look at my friends. Their backs were turned, and they were slowly being consumed by the darkness. I called out to them, but no matter how much I called out they just stayed still.....Suddenly Tila vanished, the darkness swallowing her whole.

Out from the darkness shone a blinding light that gradually expanded. As the light grew in size it began to suck me into it. I didn't know if I should be scared or relived. The bright light was a pleasant change from the all consuming darkness. I allowed myself to be dragged towards the light. After all, it was better then waiting in the darkness to fade.

My eyes opened widely. The light was so bright I had to squint to see anything. I sat up, my eyes adjusting to the light as I do so.
"Ugh.....What happened?" I mutter. I look around. Torren, Jasper, and most of the gear was in the corner of what seemed to be a small bedroom. I look down and realised that I had not landed on the floor, but the bed. Under normal circumstances I might have taken a few moments to admire, the small, yet finely crafted pine bed or the polished oak wardrobe. However, if you hadn't guessed already.....This was no normal situation.

"He.....Sorry for the rough ride.....Its pretty difficult trying to teleport that many people....I don't think I'll be doing that anytime soon..."

"What was that place....? What was the darkness?"

"It hasn't got any official name but a lot of people call it the Fade."

I look over to Torren who seemed to be stirring.

"What's going on? What happened to us?" stuttered Torren.

"You humans are quite the curious type aren't you?" added Sans.

"Well.....When you have gone through something like that, how can't you?"
I watch as Torren's expression changes from confused to shocked then finally ending on fearful.

"Why is there a skeleton in here? How do you know him? What the hell is going on!" yelled Torren.

"Calm down Torren....It's not like we don't see monsters every day." I respond.

"Heh, don't blame the kid for being confused. Teleporting does that to some people."

"So....um....who is he? And....What happened?" muttered Torren

"You mean apart from almost being crushed by an avalanche?" I tease

Torren sighs before rolling his eyes.

"I'm just kidding Torren. Well this is Sans." I reply.

"Hey Torren. Amile's told me a lot about you." he greated with a humorous undertone.

(Torren's PoV)

Could things get any more confusing? First we're all on a mountainside, then we're falling to our death, and now we're here, in a dark room....With a living skeleton.....Cause that makes sense.

"Someone help me!" cried Jasper from underneath our bags.

I lift up my bag and find a slightly flattened Jasper who was doing his best to look peeved. Amile and I chuckle in unison.
"Your a terrible liar. You couldn't act mad if you tried." I teased.

With a huff Jasper stood up and gave me a brief hug before climbing onto the old bed, and curling up on Amile's lap as best he could. Sure he was small but he was definitely not that small.

The tension that hung in the air only seconds before seemed to have vanished. Unfortunately it only left for the briefest of moments as I realised something. "Guys.....Where's Tila?"

(Amile's PoV)

"I'll look through the bags." suggested Torren.

"There's no point.....If she was here we would know." I responded. What would have normally been a joke was now just a matter of fact. I turned to look at Sans, though he look calm I could sense his underlying tension.
"Sans....When we were in the fade Tila disappeared....Is that why she isn't here now?"

"Ugh...Yeh." muttered Sans.

I swallowed hard. "What happened to her?"

"I......I couldn't teleport you all....I didn't have enough strength....Even my powers have limits you know." he responded.

"So where is she?" I ask. The fear obvious in my voice.

"I had to leave her behind....I'm sorry Amile." Though Sans did not openly express it I could tell he was being slightly sympathetic.

"What...!" I exclaimed.

"Don't worry....I did teleport her for a short time....Long enough for the avalanche to have stopped."

I heaved a large sigh of relief. "At least she's safe. Can you take me to her?"

"Sure....I can take you to where she was tomorrow morning."

"What do you mean 'tomorrow morning'!" I had to bite my tongue to keep the anger out of my voice. After all, he had just saved our lives.

"I'm sorry but I really don't have the energy to teleport myself, let alone another person as well. Plus...Its almost dark."

"What do you mean it's almost dark?" I snorted. I walked over to the window and pushed the curtain to the side, and low and behold the sun was just going behind the trees. I turn to look at Sans. "How long were we teleporting for?"

Sans looks to the side. "Heh....A few hours.....Maybe."

I chuckle inwardly. "This skeleton has a strange sense of humour, but for some reason I like it." A long, awkward silence followed, we all exchange glances as if we had completely forgotten how to speak.

"Um....Can I have my bed now?" asked Sans.

"Oh...Right...Sure." I muttered before getting off the bed. The wooden floor creaks as Jasper and I walk towards the medival style windows. Again there was a long pause before I finally decided to speak. "We should get some sleep."
Even though the sun had only just set it was late May meaning that the sun set later in the day. Torren nodded in agreement and everyone settled down to sleep. I didn't know if skeletons actually slept but I felt more comfortable thinking that they did. "Besides, Tila and Jasper sleep, and they are monsters."

I was thankful when the sun rose up above the trees. I had spent the whole day worrying about Tila. "Sure she could be a pain sometimes but she was part of the group....She was part of our family. Sans had said that she was okay but anyone who was stuck out there wouldn't be in the best shape anyway."

I looked over to Torren. "You ready to go?" I asked.

"I'm good to go." he responded.

As I tied my laces I spoke to Sans. "You'll be ok teleporting both of us?"

"Heh, I'll be fine." he responded.

"I hope so for our sake." I joked. I wasn't really in the mood for jokes but I needed something to get my mind off Tila.

Once Torren and I were ready Sans walked up to us and grabbed our wrists. "How come you did this before without making physical contact with the others?" I questioned.

"Cause if I don't teleport with you I have to be making contact." answered Sans.

I looked over to Jasper. "We'll be back soon." I said with a reassuring smile.

Jasper smiled back at me. "Please be too long."

"I won't." I responded. I watched as Jasper disappeared; The darkness enveloping me. Going though the Fade was less stressful this time. It was like floating through space but without the stars. After a short time light appeared in the distance and began to expand just like before.

The snow was blinding; quite literally. If you stayed out in the snow for too long without eye protection, you would go snowblind. I looked over to Torren. He was wearing a thick, black, fur lined cloak and reflective glasses like I was. I put the hood up on my cloak. It wasn't very cold but I knew how quickly the weather could change. "Let's split up so we can cover more ground."

Torren nodded. "Just don't go too far." he added.

The area was destroyed after the avalanche. Trees had been flattened and there was rocks everywhere that had been knocked out from the mountain. "Tila! Tila! Where are you!" I called. When no response was heard I started to worry. "What if she's badly injured....Or dead? No....I can't think like that." I screamed internally.
"Tila! Tila!!!" I called once again. This time a heard a slight muttering. I quickly followed the sound; that's when I found her. I knew she wouldn't be in great shape but she was much worse.

She was laying motionless on the floor. Her limbs were stiff with cold, and I was sure she was suffering from severe frostbite. Finally, and worst of all, her arm was crushed under a massive frozen rock that pinned her to the ground.

(Sorry for taking so long to publish this chapter. I've been suffering from severe writers block recently but I've finally got passed it and I know exactly what's going to happen in the next part. >:) )
