~~~9 years time lapse~~~
(Bet you weren't expecting that! Anyways this takes place awhile after Tasha and the Kymari kill that sicora alpha)
I rested against the cool underground rocks, nuzzling my cheeks on its surface. A couple of droplets hit my slimy pelt, absorbing right into me.
Not long after that first group of aliens came, another delivered karma to their faces. We couldn't find any that suffered the same fate we did though. These aliens call themself the Kymari, and from faint feelings these people love nature. They're green with black heavy spaghetti hair.
Most of us prefer to dwell in the cave we dug out. It's went from a small series of tunnels to a clear and open subterranean land. We use roots of trees and other plants as a way to get around.
Occasionally, we use them for water when it hasn't rained in awhile.
When hunger gripped at our stomaches, somebody discovered that our tongues are actually proboscises. It's why we don't have teeth. Well, we could try to form some, but it hasn't been successful.
I shifted myself slightly, melting onto the rock with pleasure. This sort of feeling, where all of you at once is cooling... it feels like bliss.
To make things simpler, we developed a key for our appearance changes. There's the simple form, which is just that five-clawed cat in all its glory. The spread form is the one that I'm currently in now. Where your melted and stretched out.
Then there's the forms for certain activities, like climbing and the more-fun flying. It takes practice to fly, but it's possible. Our climbing form resembles a spider, eight long legs with a stickiness to the feet. Other times, we just use web climbing. That's a more common way of climbing here. You just stick yourself against the surface, and pull using unshaped appendages.
The flying form is one we use whenever we go outside. It's fast, convenient, and is utterly silent to the Kymari that hang out above ground. We tried basing it off of dragons, but it ended up being full-on bat. The only difference is that the wings have clawed hands for gripping, and no legs.
Of coarse, we can just freely change our forms. The limit is our imagination, and our body mass.
"Katy! Want to go find some of that alien fruit we call purple lemons?" Lucy chimed, peeking from my burrow exit. Her color is a light blue, almost like the sky had snow covering most of it.
"Heck yes!" I thrusted up, shifting back into simple form. "I'd kill for some purple lemons."
Those fruit aren't from here, and had been planted by those botanists. The fruit is purple, circular shaped like a cherry, but everything else about it is lemon. Even the citrusy taste is there, much to my pleasure.
Most of our feedings do with sucking out the juices of whatever we get our paws on. That includes living creatures, disregarding Kymari.
They're super protective of their kids, and if outside threats harm them they get pissed off.
Once a coyote tried to hunt one of them, and the mom was like "NOPE! Off to hell with you." Since then we couldn't find any around the park, which is good news.
If anything even tried to dig us out and eat us, they would be dead. About two years ago this weird giant spider thing came over and ate one of our members. Within two minutes neon green bile was everywhere, with the giant spider curled up in a corner.
Speaking of that color, in the dark we can illuminate ourselves to see better. Though we have good night vision to help us with that to, so... yeah.
We kept slinking in the overgrowth. Being seen was too big of a risk, even though those strange faint feelings say they mean no harm.
The purple lemon bush was just a few yards away, beckoning us to come slurp its ripe fruit. I could smell the citrus from here. Trust me, it's a good feeling to know that you can smell things from this far away.
Unfortunately they made a new path along this way, so now we have a risk of being discovered. I stuck my peachy head out of the leaves, darting my eyes around the path.
Good, no green spaghetti people here. I nodded at Lucy, and she nodded back.
We scampered across the path, and back into some plants. This time, it's some grass just high enough to cover us. I plucked a purple lemon off its branches, handing it to Lucy before going for another.
"Bailey and Peter will want some too, so grab two more." Lucy said, getting a grip using her slime as a carrier. I nodded to her, reaching for two of the fruit that stray near the light.
Taking them off, I gave one to her so we could be even.
"Oh! Wasn't Peter expecting kits soon?" She suddenly blurted. My eyes went wide with shock.
"He was?! I knew they loved each other but I didn't expect that path to be taken," I gasped. "Maybe they would want extra?"
"We all want extras Kaleidoscope,"
Agreed, but the nickname echoed in my head like a drum. It's very unsettling.
The way we reproduce is almost like any creature, but different in its own way. Our species doesn't have a biological gender, so anybody can get together. However since we had been so used to a gender we keep the pronouns anyways. One mate would pass some of them to the other.
It can be rejected though, so if anyone had second thoughts they could act quickly. So much better than plan-B ever was.
Our kits start out as pods attached to us, and after about six weeks they hatch out of them with whatever colors their parents have. Most of the time it's pretty random, and on occasion one kit would form with bare spots.
We call bare spots patches of neon green, as after some time somebody figured out our green interior was related to the goo. By goo, I mean the melted humans that got killed off. Neon green is our skin, with the patterns being whatever we wore that fateful day.
That guy with the white tips had run out naked, with only some underwear to cover up the private area.
He's still embarrassed about it...
By the time the kits hatch, they have the mind of a nine year-old. It saves a lot of hassle, and sleepless nights. So far after a year their minds become that of a young adult.
Of coarse, it varies by kit.
They still like playing games such as tag and hide n seek. On occasion they would use a thin rock as a pencil and make drawings. Ever since kits came here, our numbers had grown to 79. Of coarse, we'll have to add and subtract if anything happens. Like Peter's kits, and moms inevitable death.
It was going to happen soon, and I don't want to know when. She had stopped eating a few days ago due to the flu, but something else came along and now she's suffering from dehydration.
Keeping ourselves moist is critical for us to survive. If not, then we shrivel up and die.
"C'mon, lets go home before they get worried," Lucy broke me from my trance.
"Yeah, I don't want to make anybody jiggle in fear," I said, making Lucy snort.
We went back the way we came, which is easy with using a set of rocks to point home. There are several entrances in the ground, still hidden enough to keep those Kymari off our tails.
"Hello all you filthy creatures," I mused, entering Peter and Bailey's nook.
The pink and scarlet one threw his head back laughing maniacally. This was Bailey. Despite telling us countless times that he dislikes pink, his Valentines pj's told us otherwise that he was lying.
Peter chuckled warmly, eyeing the fruits we came back with. "Guess what I got?"
"Kits,"
"Gregnant- wait," He stopped, squinting at Lucy. "Lu did you already tell her?"
"Bingo," She smiled mischievously. "But apart from the fact that you're gonna be a parent with Bailey, would you like some purple lemons?"
"Heck yeah,"
Lucy handed one of hers to Peter, and I did the same but to Bailey. Piercing the flesh with my proboscis, the sour juice flowed through like a high quality straw. After all, it belonged to me and the rest of us slime cats.
It only took four years to establish that name, and I wouldn't change a thing.
