Car Crash

So yesterday we got into our first crash. We just got out of our neighborhood, and now we were driving down a somewhat fast road. Keep in mind, it had rained that night, so the roads were pretty slick. We were driving down to a stop sign that stopped us from a road that kinda looked like --| if that makes sense, our new Journey CD playing in our radio, when we spotted a tan car driving rather quickly, skidding and turning our way. They drove into a ditch to our left, before popping back up and slamming into the driver's side. I was in the passenger's seat, Madie was driving (an excellent driver, btw), and my brother Aidan was in the back. We got pushed back, jolting sideways and rolling back slightly.

If you can't see, the glass on the passenger's side was broken because of the airbag, but not shattered. I wish I got more pics of the other side where the damage really was, but I wasn't able to.

I opened my eyes to a blue airbag in front of me, smoke coming out of the vents and airbag thing where the airbag sits. Aidan began to scream in fear and a bit of pain, and Madie was breathing heavily. She was shaken up, as we all were, but she was also angry and upset. It was her first car she was allowed to drive (a hand-me-down. I was going to get it next) and it had been destroyed.

We all got out, Aidan still screaming that we would've died and just screaming in general. I began to calm him down and check him for wounds, because he kept saying "Ow" when he walked around. He had gotten seatbelt rash all across the front of his waist, and on the hip bones he had gotten scratches. Other than whip lash and that, he was basically unscathed. Madie was lucky, too. She only had a bruise on the knee and a seatbelt rash on her shoulder. We all got whip lash, I think. I put my hands in my pockets as the lady of the other car came out, Aidan screaming "I AM SO SORRY!"

The lady was around maybe fifty or so, with gray hair and breath that smelled of cigarettes. She was a very nice, sweet lady, and came out of her car with fear and shock in her face.

"Are you kids alright?" She asked.

"Yeah, we're okay." I replied. Not to toot my own horn here, but I was the most collected out of everyone. Didn't cry, didn't scream, and didn't really feel anything other than the shakes in my body and my heart pumping. Something I'm a little nervous about, actually... should I have felt something? I dunno.

The lady came closer, explaining that her tires had locked up when she was driving, and all she could do was skid and hydroplane. Madie was calling the police and our parents at this time, and I was talking to the lady, asking if she we're okay or if she we're hurt. Her knee was a little banged up, but she said it was alright.

I pullws my hands out of my pockets, and noticed one of my fingers had blood on it. I checked my leg, realising I had a wound. Later on I would discover that one of my freckles had been ripped apart from the skin, and the area around it bruised. It's actually not as bad as it sounds.

When the cops came, they asked the normal things like how'd this happen, what's your name, address, number, etc. They were pretty chill, and one of them is friend's with my mom and dad since my three younger siblings go to school with his kids. What really bothered me when we were waiting for mom to pick us up, the cops had to make everyone coming down the road go back (which was okay), and then this one guy in a truck didn't stop when the cop gave him hand signals to turn around. He just headed straight for us, before slowly stopping only a foot or two away from the demolished cars and held his hands up, giving the cop a "What the heck, man?" face.

When mom came, we waited for the tow-trucks (which cleaned up BOTH cars in 12 minutes) and drove to dad's store and stayed there for a bit since mom had to do realtor stuff. Dad had to wait on someone to cover his shift, and it took maybe a half hour for someone to come. We left to go to Urgent Care.

When we walked into Urgent Care, we went up to the lady at the desk. Keep in mind here, there was NO ONE in the room except for us and the lady, and the lady had been enjoying a nice snack when we "RUDELY" interrupted her.

"Excuse me, ma'am?" Dad said, standing in front of the lady.

She looked up at us dully, before wiping her hands off on her shirt and standing up, annoyed. "Yeah?"

"Yes, my three children were just in a car accident, and the police told us to go here to check up on them."

She practically rolled her eyes and told us the BIGGEST lie of the century. "Yeah, we can't do crashes. We don't know who's fault it was, and we don't really want to go into it, so we can't really check up on them. There's this place in the city you can go." She glared at us.

Now, the city is an hour or two away, and why I say that she is lying is because several people we have told (even the people at the hospital we ended up going to) said that they had either gone to Urgent Care for a crash themselves and got treatment, or said that that was just strange and unheard of. It also makes me wonder that if we were in really bad shape (broken limbs, bleeding faces, etc.), would she do the same thing?

We turned away, and I whispered loud enough for her to hear "Well that's just... Absolutely stupid."

"Yeah, it is." Dad said louder, before muttering "Dumbass," under his breath.

I told Austin all about what was happening, making him worried sick (I'm sorry, baby!). But when he heard this, he was pissed. We got to another hospital, where we received better treatment than that other stupid hospital could've given us. My brother and I got an X-Ray scan on our hips, and an ultrasound everywhere to see if there was any internal bleeding. It was pretty awkward for me, because the ultrasound dudes were guys, and I had to put on a gown and put a cover over my waist down so they couldn't see my body. It was a little more embarrassing since I hadn't shaved my legs in so long XD.

I dunno why I found it funny, but there was this doctor in training here, and he was hovering over the other doctor who was doing the ultrasound. He was pointing out all my organs and stuff, and talking about my liver and this weird thing in my collar bone. To demonstrate some things, he'd have me breathe in and out, and the doctor in training would say things like "Oh, wow." or "Huh... Interesting..."

But we were all set. Madie was in a bit of shock, so she and Aidan decided to stay home from school while I went (when we told the lady at the front desk why we were late, she just couldn't care less, honestly) and now we're looking for a new car :/ although the money won't come from us, considering that the accident was not our fault. YAY! INSURANCE!

Also, sorry I couldn't get a chapter out for "The Music Box" today (like anyone cares XD) I had to go on a retreat I didn't know about until yesterday night from 8:30 to 3:00, and I'm pretty tired. I may get it out later tonight. Also, I will try to get a chapter of "Wingless Fairy" out tomorrow, however I have a few things going on, and it is Aidan's birthday tomorrow.

Until then, I guess!
