Chapter One

I watched in despair as more bodies of my Hunters littered the battlefield. Blood was everywhere, some tainted silver, some gold, some mortal crimson color. I fired arrow after arrow into the hoard of monsters, hitting every target, but it wasn't enough.

It had been going on for hours now, and the monsters were winning. Winning.

They had been stealing my energy, diverting it to their troops. I was basically just as powerful as an average Hunter now, and that was saying a lot. I was a goddess after all.

Thalia, Atalanta, Sophie, Hannah, Jasmine, and Jordan fought by my side. Silver arrows flew into the mass of Hunters and Monsters, joining the silver slashes of hunting knives and uniforms.

Something slashed through my side, causing golden ichor to fall. I cried out in pain, looking up to see Lycaon grinning down at me, his fangs bared. Thalia roared, sending lightning from the sky into him, blasting him backwards, yet not killing him. Thalia had gotten more powerful since the incident with Perseus. I shakily rose to my feet, and aimed.

It hit its mark, going straight through the Werewolf King's eye, and turning him to dust.

"No one hurts M'Lady!" Sophie shouted, and pulled out her knives. She flipped into battle, slashing and decapitating any monster who dared come by her. Thalia joined the battle, her spear out, and shield petrifying her enemies. Lightning poured down constantly, the thunder making me deaf.

I let out a battle cry and charged, drawing my own knives, and going into battle mode. My godly instincts took over, blasting people with pure energy and dismembering limbs. I made a small dent in the enemy force.

We were loosing. I heard Hannah's cry as she fell dead, and then Jasmine's. Two brave and loyal huntresses. I had to end this. How could I, Artemis, goddess of the hunt and moon loose to this?

'Shut your eyes!' I mind linked all of my remaining Hunters, something only a gods or goddesses could do. Hoping they obeyed my order, I showed my true appearance, obliterating all of the monsters, and draining me of my energy.

The last thing I saw, before everything went black, was the sun rising, and Apollo's worried face looking down on me.

:| At Olympus |:

I awoke in an unfamiliarly bright palace, my firs thought being Apollo. Groaning and wincing, I sat up, seeing only thirteen bodies beside me.

Thalia, Sophie, Jordan, Atalanta, Selene, Adeline, Jessica, Eleanor, Elena, Anna, Clare, Senna, and Erin were sleeping peacefully, although Thalia's eyes were fluttering open.

I rushed to my second in command's side. {I was first in command} "M'Lady? H-How are we alive?" She stammered, sitting up quickly.

"I disintegrated the remaining monsters as I turned to my true godly form. That's why I asked you to close your eyes." I said softly, a tear trickling down my cheek. So many losses. So many monsters. So many deaths that could've been prevented.

Thalia put a hand on my back, pulling me into a hug. "M'Lady, we lost so many." She sniffed, wetting my shoulder. I nodded miserably.

Twelve groans signaled the awakening of the rest of my remaining Hunters. I quickly explained to them what happened, and pretty soon we were all crying messes.

The door burst open, revealing my twin brother.

"Glad to see you're alright Arty." He smiled, but worry was stretched across his face.

I got straight to the point. "What is it?" I demanded, my voice cold and sharp. The tears on my face pained me, liked ice shards tearing through my skin. I would avenge my lost Hunters, I could not afford to lay around sadly as a crying mess.
Thalia and the rest seemed to have made the same decision, their expressions hardening, and their tears drying up.

"Weeeeelllll, seeing you asked so kindly, The Council has decided the Hunt needs a Guardian. So that this never happens again." He stated, biting his lip.

"Who is he?" I yelled. I could tell from his expression that he thought I would be angry, meaning the guardian was to be a male. Did the council think that females couldn't protect themselves!?

"W-We haven't decided yet! They are choosing now, and dad sent me to get you! He wants the Hunters too!" Apollo said nervously, backing out of the room.

I growled in frustration, and joined hands with my Hunters, before teleporting us to the Throne room. I was sitting in my throne, the Hunters standing around it. A wave of my hand, and thirteen mini-thrones appeared in front.

My father cleared his throat. "As we all know, the Hunt was attacked last night, and barely survived. In order to make sure that this never happens again, we have decided to pick a guardian to protect them. Artemis, this is final." He boomed, glaring at me when I opened my mouth to speak.

"Who to choose? Someone healthy, who eats lots of cereal." Demented spoke up, stroking her chin thoughtfully. Her hair was in a braided crown, flowers and leaves woven into it.

"Hush." Hades muttered. He and Hestia had been given thrones on the council, after the Jackson incident as we referred to it as. That traitor. He deserved what he got.

Yes, I called Percy Jackson, the supposed twice savior of Olympus, a Traitor.  Why? How? I'll tell you why, and how that dirty male, the only male I ever trusted, was killed.

The daughter of Athena had come to Olympus in tears, saying that the Poseidon scum had cheated on her and broke her heart. She hadn't believed the rumors about him that were going around camp, but now she did.

Upon being questioned about the rumors, we found that Perseus had been up to no good, stealing, trashing, and bragging at camp. He'd even apparently flirted with and seduced one of my hunters! It was no wonder she committed suicide later on, surprising the rest of the Hunt along with me. It had been a tragic time.

At that point, my hatred for males only grew. Perseus was at the top of the list now.

The Olympian Council had been outraged to find out the truth about our savior. And then, Annabeth revealed the secret plans she'd discovered in his cabin. They were the weaknesses and strong points of both camps and Olympus. It had appeared Perseus had sided with the enemy, Gaea. Although it made no sense, he had killed her, but Annabeth argued that it was just an act to get more power. He had been on a side of his own, going against  and for Olympus for his advantage. It disgusted me.

After this Annabeth then added that there were true heros of Olympus. She said, not only was only Perseus recognized, but that all went to his head. The rest of the seven were left out.

Pondering this, I found it mostly true. Although I had some distant memory of Perseus trying to share his fame, I brushed it off. It had all been an act. We had never known the true Perseus Jackson.

Zeus had immediately summoned the whole two camps as well as Perseus to the throne room. He looked awful, starved and pale, with bloodshot eyes and bloody fingertips. Scars littered his arms.

I had gasped at the sight of him, then my heart had hardened. He did not deserve my pity.

Perseus had bowed, to each of us, before asking why he was here. His voice was cracked and broken, his eyes full of pain and suffering. He wasn't the Jackson we though we knew, that was for sure.

Zeus had gone on go make a whole speech about him betraying us, while Perseus stood with his mouth agape.

"You believe I did that!? My fatal flaw is freaking personal loyalty for gods sake!" He'd screamed, tears brimming in his eyes.

Poseidon had gone up to him, and slapped him across the face. "You are no son of mine." He'd whispered, before stabbing him in the stomach with an unseen knife.

Sobbing, Perseus had fallen to the ground, his mouth forming the word why? Zeus struck with his master bolt, and the sea scum had been destroyed.

"Artemis!" Zeus snapped, drawing me from my thoughts. I gasped and stared forward, where a black portal began to form. I drew the attention of the rest of the gods, all of them gaping as Chaos herself walked out.

"Rise Olympians. I know of your suffering, and I am here to resurrect your guardian. Yes, he is dead. You will not know his identity though, I will keep it hidden. This guardian has a heart of gold, a heart of steel, and is more loyal and brave than anyone else. But first,im must tell you if your wrong doings." She spoke, her eyes swirling with planets and stars, her neon blue lips pausing as she stopped to breath.

"Perseus Jackson was innocent. He did none of the things the Athena girl told you of. In fact, she cheated on him. With a stupid son of Aphrodite." She snapped. Before the love goddess could retaliate, she continued. "Let me show you." Waving a hand, she created a screen that showed Percy walking towards the beach.

He was cheerful, his eyes sparkling with happiness. As he sat down on the beach, he appeared to be lost in thought, gazing across the water. Soon after he left, walking to the Athena cabin.

He opened the door to find Annabeth and a random camper kissing. Percy's voice cracked as he demanded of her why.

She responded  saying that she only wanted him for the fame and glory, he was worthless anyways compared to Jack, son of Aphrodite.

Percy choked, before slamming the door and running off, back to his cabin. He locked the door and collapsed on his bunk, where he didn't move.

The perspective of the view changed, now showing a crying Annabeth latched onto Jack's arm. She was explaining to the rest of camp how she had found Percy cheating on her with a mortal girl just outside camp borders, and Jack had to wrap his arm around her to stop her from falling to the floor.

The campers were outraged, shaking their fists and calling names. After it died down, Annabeth told them that that wasn't the worst part. She then went on to tell about what Percy had done, including stealing objects. Looking around, the campers found those objects weren't there. They had been to focused on Annabeth to realize Jack had stolen them using charmspeak and stealth. The yelling only got louder.

"Yet that still isn't the worse!" Annabeth shrieked, drawing the camps attention once more. She brandished a map of both camps and Olympus. "Just weeks ago, I found this under Percy's bed! This proves the the was a spy for Gaea, and he wanted to overthrow her too! That evil greedy jerk just wanted more power!" She screamed.

I was ready to strangle her. And to think. We believed her and gave her immortality. I shuddered at the thought.

Yells of, "take this to Olympus," and "go summon the gods!" Were heard from the crowd and that's exactly what Annabeth did. Grabbing the evidence, and taking Jack's hand, she hailed a cab and sped to the Empire State Building, before threatening the security man unless he gave her the elevator card. She entered Olympus and gave Jack a quick tour, before putting on the act again. She kissed Jack quickly, before entering the throne room.

The video stopped. I sat in silence. Then Thalia burst into tears.

Soon everyone followed. Until I was once again a bawling mess. We betrayed and killed our hero, and we were going to pay for it.

"Now that you have learned your mistake Olympians, I bring you forth now, Anagenniménos, the new guardian of the hunt!"

Reborn. I translated easily in my head, as a cloaked figure appeared. He was tall and muscular, with an aura of power and strength around him that made me want his protection. Knives were strapped all along his legs and boots, and twin swords were in an 'x' on his back. A translucent ring in his finger seemed to generate energy as well, and he was dressed in a completely black assassin's outfit.

He bowed before me. "M'Lady. I swear on the River Styx to protect you with my life, not mess with any of your hunters, and I swear to complete any task you give me." Anagenniménos swore, still kneeling before me. His voice was cold and emotionless. I commanded him to rise.

"Anagenniménos, is there another name we can call you by? I'm afraid that's a little long dearest." Aphrodite winked.

"You may call me whatever you want love goddess, and I will answer to all." He spoke. His voice was vaguely familiar, reminding me of someone long ago. I just couldn't figure out who.

"Very well then. Meet me for your assignments in ten minutes at the Hunter's camp. I except you to find it on your own." I ordered, before flashing out with the rest of the gods.

I was going to find out who was under that cloak.
