Chapter Four : Part One
I woke up sitting by the lake, a terrible headache plaguing my thoughts. Groaning, I sat up, and recalled looking for the Guardian. I must have walked here and fallen asleep.
"M'Lady!" I heard someone shout. I whipped my head back to see Thalia running towards me, her cheeks tainted pink.
"Thalia." I greeted, still uncertain of the last nights events.
"M'Lady, we couldn't find you anywhere!" Thalia said breathlessly.
"I see. I fell asleep here last night, while looking for Anagenniménos." I said, and Thalia grinned.
"I'm glad to hear that you are okay M'Lady." She said, and then walked off.
I sighed, and walked back to camp, admiring the trees and nature.
I stopped at one large oak tree, admiring it for a minute. Then another, and then another.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" Someone asked from behind me. I turned around to see Anagenniménos, staring wistfully at the branches.
"Yes." I responded, taking in his appearance. Once again, I wanted his protection, for him to wrap his arms around me, to comfort me. I stopped suddenly, shocked at what feeling I was experiencing.
I had never felt this way before. Was it just Aphrodite messing with me? Or, was it true? Was I really beginning to fall for a man?
"M'Lady, are you alright?" He asked, placing a hand on my shoulder. I involuntarily shivered at his touch, his hand warm and welcoming.
"Yes. I am fine, thank you Anagenniménos." I said sharply. I was not going to break my vow. Never in a million years. But that's not really true is it? A small voice in my head nagged. You know you're falling in love.
Shut up! I yelled angrily in my head, and the little voice went away.
But the worst part was, it had been right.
Everything it had said had been true.
:|Later That Night|:
I was sitting with my hunters for dinner, the guardian once again no where to be seen. I got up and excused myself, telling my hunters I was going to keep watch.
Shifting into a doe, I gracefully sprinted off into the woods, and back to the lake. I had a feeling that the Fates wanted me to go there, and so I did.
To my disappointment, it was not the guardian who was there, but the goddess of love herself. I shifted back to my 18 year old human form, before marching to her angrily.
"Are you messing with my head Aphrodite?" I snapped, standing in front of her. She looked at me with slightly amused eyes.
"I wouldn't dare, Artemis. It is your own feelings that you feel for the Guardian." She said, grinning.
"B-But how!? I made an oath!" I exclaimed angrily. Aphrodite winked.
"Let's just say a lot of people owe me debts, and I will remove your oath for you when the time comes. Who am I to mess with true love?" Aphrodite said, before vanishing in a puff of pink smoke.
I stomped my foot impatiently, and sat down. I gazed of, frustrated until I heard a loud cough from behind me.
Anagenniménos
