Lincoln
WARNING: death references and swearing if you aren't comfortable with either then don't continue. Also the book will probably feature more swearing as it continues.
I arrived outside a crappy, run-down hotel in Lincoln. The large, neon sign out the front naming it "Lincoln Inn" I take the letter of my lap reach over to the passenger side and open the glove box shoving the letter in side. I slam the glove box shut and go to get out of the car grabbing my duffel bag from the back seat I make my way to the lobby and check myself in.
I enter the small room I was assigned, the walls were decorated in a colourful floral wallpaper, the carpet was a cream colour. I walked over to the small wooden table to the left and drop the keys down on the table. I then walk towards the double bed, against the right wall and release my bag on to the soft mattress. I then take out my laptop and begin researching the victims and ghost to try and get rid of it.
(2 days later)
"Alright stay in this circle of salt and do not move out of it. As long as you stay in this circle the ghost can't touch you. Understand?" the 24 year old male looks at me confused and terrified "No! I don't how the hell does salt protect me?" I don't know how salt protects you but it just does." I huff, I didn't have time for his arguments it was almost midnight and the ghost was about to show up.
What I had figured out was this ghost, before it died had been cheated on by her husband and then murdered by him at midnight, so he can be with his mistress. He drugged her then hung her. She now gets her revenge on cheating husbands at midnight thinking they will do the same.
The guy I was protecting had cheated on his wife twice the bastard and now I had to protect his ass before the ghost killed him.
DONG! DONG! DONG!
I whipped around and saw the clock striking twelve signifying it was midnight. I readied myself for the ghost to appear and sure enough on the third strike she flickered into view and went straight for James, the dick I was protecting. "Hey Bitch!" her attention turned towards me and I shot her with rock salt discharged from my gun. I only had to keep her away for 10 minutes...for some reason she only stays for 10 minutes. After this I was going to burn her bones.
She appeared again behind me, once again flickering. I exhaled as I shot her again and my breath appeared as a cloud, "one sign of ghost activity the temperature drops a lot." I explained to the James. "Right." Is all he replied with and I guess I couldn't blame him, he did just see a ghost for the first time.
"I have information for you...but only if you let me kill him." A raspy voice sounded from my right. I chuckle sarcastically "No deal sunshine." And again I shoot her. "It's about your precious Dean Winchester." I freeze at the sound of his name flashbacks of the letter and time we spent together forcing itself into my head. "No you're lying!" I finally manage to utter "Am I?" Damn it why was I falling for this I know she is lying but what if there is the slight possibility she's not?
"You are not going to kill him!" I say enraged and pull the trigger once again. Even if she did have information to let her kill him would not be what Dean would do. "But don't you want to know where Dean is?" Is? What does she mean is? He's dead he can't be anywhere! She was messing with my head just so she could kill him. "Piss off!" I yell. "Who's Dean?" James asks me looking very confused "No one you need to worry about...he's dead!" I explain to him and I am not met with a verbal answer.
"Word through the grape vine is he's not dead." "I said Shut up Bitch!" I once again shot her but then looked at the old grandfather clock standing against one of the walls. It told me it was ten past twelve meaning she shouldn't be coming back but just to make sure I stayed around for 5 more minutes.
"Alright well I'm off." I tell James and exit the house with my gun the only thing I brought with me.
(40 minutes later)
The dirt on top off her coffin I had just dug up and now I was pouring salt and alcohol on her bones I then pulled the $2 blue lighter out of my back pocket lit it and then threw it on her bones. I stood there for a while just watching them burn as I drank my beer, thinking about Dean and if the ghost was right or if she was just lying.
I eventually got so frustrated trying to figure it out I threw my empty beer bottle at the flames with as much force as I could manage. "Screw you!" I don't exactly know who that was directed to whether it was the ghost bitch, Dean for leaving me, Dick roman for causing it or all of them.
"Babe it's ok." There he was again he was standing in front of me his two hands on my shoulders but I couldn't feel them. "You're not really here...go away." I lurch away from his non-existent grasp and turn my back towards him. "If I'm not really here then how can I go away." I knew he was smirking his iconic smirk from his tone. "Same smart ass I see." I chuckle and turn back around. "So I take that as you don't want me to go." He cocks one eyebrow still smirking. "I figure if I'm going to be delusional I may as well enjoy it." The scary thing was I was actually delusional and I was not just exaggerating...How long was I going to last before reality and my delusions faded into one?
