Chapter 12: Poison
"I know what you're doing, and I won't make a wish!" Lloyd shouts.
"Oh, come now, I'm only asking a simple question" Nadakhan chuckles "Do you truly know who she is? With all that secrecy, don't you ever wonder what she's hiding?"
"...No," Lloyd shakes his head "Unlike you, I trust people!"
"Trust is a loose word," Nadakhan circles around him "Sometimes the person you'd take the bullet for is behind the gun."
"...do you know something?" Lloyd asked as he stepped away from him.
"Maybe I do, maybe I don't," Nadakhan replies with a devilish smirk. "You will never know unless you ask. Certainly.. you wonder something? Maybe about who a certain child is?"
"The Overlord's," Lloyd mutters as he glances at the Djinn. "I can't trust you.. but Wu.. won't tell me anything."
"Just one, wouldn't hurt surely?" Nadakhan whispers in his ear.
"I.." Lloyd looks down before muttering "I wish to know who the Overlord's child is.. who they really are."
"As you wish," Nadakhan laughs as he puts his hands together.
Lloyd opened his eyes to see himself in a ghost like state, he looked around to see himself in an unfamiliar apartment. He stopped when he noticed posters of the Idol Aria on the walls.
"Hm?" Lloyd looks at them curiously.
The door suddenly opens, scaring him. Inside walked the idol herself.
"Aria I can explain-"
Lloyd stopped when she walked right through him.
"Oh.. she can't see me," Lloyd mutters with relief. "Wait.. why am I here?"
"You show up uninvited as always," Aria says as she turns back towards the door.
Lloyd whipped his head around as Zero walked into the room.
"I knew it," Lloyd glares at him "it is him."
"You always seem so excited to see me dear sister," Zero responds as he crosses his arms.
"Unlike you, I'm actually busy." Aria tells him as she sat at her vanity, fixing her hair in the mirror.
"S-Sister?!" Lloyd looks between the two. "They look nothing alike."
"I'm curious as to why mother's spell book went missing," Zero states as he walks over and stands behind her chair. "After the whole affair with Chen, I had assumed it was destroyed. However, I received a letter from Wu stating it had disappeared before he and the ninja destroyed it."
Aria chuckles "I hardly see how that has to do with me."
"The only person interested in that book, is you," Zero says.
Aria looks up into her mirror, looking at the reflection of Zero's eyes "Are you saying I somehow got my hands on it? I wasn't even there."
"Not only that, but my coin went missing at the same time a ghost was released... and the book went missing." Zero continues.
"I told you that had-"
Zero cut her off as his eyes glowed blue "Where is the book, Aria?"
"Don't-" Aria stood up and held a dagger to his throat "threaten me, brother."
Lloyd held his breath, seeing the murderous look in the idol's eyes. The seemingly sweet Aria, who smiled everywhere she went, had this side to her.
"You can't change anything!" Zero shouts at her angrily.
"You don't have the right, to judge me." Aria replies as she pulls the dagger away from his throat and places it on her vanity. "You left... so leave now and leave me alone."
"I know," Zero says quietly as his eyes turn back to normal. "But it's not too late for me to fix things Ari, I want to be here for you. I'm your brother, and I love you... we're family. Stop this obsession with bringing mother back. We can't change the past, but we can change the future."
"I'm the city's beloved idol," Aria laughs as she turns to face him "Do you really think I need your pathetic love? I have all the love in the world!"
"...all that love, won't fill your broken heart." Zero tells her with pain in his eyes. "It's a lie you're telling yourself... every time. It's becoming poison, and you'll drown yourself in it."
Aria's eyes glowed purple as the walls around the room rattled, making both Zero and Lloyd jump.
"GET OUT" Aria screamed before punching her vanity mirror, smashing it to pieces.
"Ari-"
"I said get out!" Aria threw a glass shard at him.
Zero dodged before rushing to the door, he looked back at her "Your lies will be your undoing sister, don't say I didn't warn you."
Zero left the apartment and closed the door behind him. Aria huffed before her eyes changed back to their normal green color. She looked down at her hand that now bled from the glass. Aria closed her hand as she looked around the room, she seemed to stop as her eyes were set on Lloyd.
"When did you get here?" Aria mutters.
Lloyd's eyes widened before he looked down to see himself no longer in a ghostly state.
"I-" Lloyd didn't know what to say but looked down at her hand. "You're bleeding."
"I'm well aware," Aria replies as her eyes glowed purple again "you saw, didn't you?"
"...you're the overlord's child," Lloyd mutters, still in disbelief.
"Yes," Aria replies, not even trying to deny it. "So, what will you do now, green ninja?"
"You released Morro?" Lloyd questions. "You stole Clouse's spell book- well... your mother's?"
"Like I asked," Aria stepped towards him "What will you do now?"
"I-" Lloyd shook his head "there's no way. You're an Idol... you have the seemingly perfect life. Why? Why would you..."
"Nobody's ever cared why," Aria states as she walked towards him.
Lloyd backed up until he was near the window without realizing. He looked back before turning back to Aria.
"What are you planning?" Lloyd asks, "If you do anything to harm the city... nobody can protect you... there's no going back."
"I know," Aria sighs as she suddenly grabs Lloyd by the collar and pushes him out the window, holding him over the rail
"Ah!" Lloyd shouts as he grabs onto her arm "Wait! Aria you don't have to do this!"
"Eliminating you now will make it easier on me later," Aria tells him calmly "I'm thinking about this statistically."
"There's a chance I live here though," Lloyd says "the ninja and I would-"
"You would what?" Aria asks with a smirk "You can't touch me Garmadon, I've fooled this city for years."
Aria throws him out of the window before closing it behind her. As Lloyd fell, all he could do was stare up at the window. She did all that... with a pained look in her eyes that he couldn't get out of his head.
"I wish it all away!"
Aria glances back out the window to see nothing before turning away and walking to the shattered glass on her ground.
"Oh my," Aria sighs "What a mess I've made."
