A moon had passed and Earthpaw's warrior assessment was started. As she watched her temporary apprentice doing her assessment, Snakefang felt incredibly nervous. Even though Earthpaw had only been temporary, she was Snakefang's first apprentice. While she watched she thought about the last moon.

Stalkfur's kits are doing well.. Eaglekit and Kestrelkit. Haredash was made a warrior. Peregrinesky, passed on in her sleep. This moon has been good.

"Snakefang is that you? Earthpaw's foster mentor?" Snakefang turned to find the owner, it belonged to a ginger she cat with a dark ginger tail. She turned her head towards Earthpaw.

"It is me."

"Hello I'm Foxtail. Earthpaw's mentor." Snakefang stared at Foxtail. "Well, former one. I'm cured now, catmint saved me." Foxtail settled herself next to Snakefang. At the base of Foxtail's tail there was a space where the dark ginger faded to ginger. "She seems to really like you. Better than me that is." Snakefang looked at the earth brown she cat, finding that difficult to believe. "She doesn't seem to like me as a friend.. But rather as a mother, when her mother is alive and well." Snakefang knew very well Foxtail was lying but didn't press her further.

"I'm nervous," Snakefang admitted. Snakefang heard Foxtail stifle a laugh.

"Nervous? A rouge, nervous? If I knew any better, I'd say you had a crush on her."  Snakefang nearly jumped. The fact was impossible. She'd only known Earthpaw for a moon and then again, since when did Foxtail know she was homosexual? She'd only given Earthpaw the vague answer of 'I've never been interested in toms.' and she got what she had said? Or maybe it was obvious.

"Interesting use of language Foxtail," she said carefully. She curled her tail around her paws and remained mute until she heard Foxtail's reply.

"Oh was it?" She replied with mock surprise.

"And I can't have a crush on her, I've only known her for a moon and now, since you're here, I'll take my leave of watching." And then Snakefang walked towards the camp. Foxtail motioned to her to comeback but Snakefang ignored her.

Soon she reached camp and saw Eaglekit and Kestrelkit play fighting in the middle of camp with their mother,Spikyfur's, watching eye. One of the kits, the she kit, had pinned down her brother. "Take that MarshClan warrior!" She squeaked while her brother struggled underneath her. Snakefang smiled. Kits were always good news in a clan. They would grow up to become warriors, if they survived.

"May all cats old enough to catch their prey, gather for a Clan meeting!" The clan grumpily left their dens and gather around. "An apprentice has completed her warriors assessment. Earthpaw come forward." Earthpaw went up, confidence shining in her eyes. "Earthpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code?"

"I do."

"From this moment onward, you will be called Earthberry." The Clan called out her new name. Only afterward did Snakefang realise she had been the loudest.
