Chapter 2
The next day, Connor didn't see Jared or Evan at first. His pocket buzzed. He took out his phone and read the conversation Jared and Evan were having on the group.
Hey, Ev! Do you remember yesterday?
I don't think I couldn't. Even I could see what you did.
We should be careful with our words, in case Connor is reading this.
Connor blinked. What were they talking about? Why did they need to watch their words?
I know. They probably didn't even realize what happened.
Yeah. I could feel the energy.
Connor narrowed his eyes. Were they talking about the event that had happened yesterday? Nothing exciting had happened. Michael only fell into his arms. Sure, he thought Michael's eyes were beautiful but nothing more than that.
You don't think-
Jared, it's too early to tell. Let's just leave them be for now.
Connor placed his phone back in his pocket. He was annoyed. Jared had a tendency to... over think things. Especially things like this. He turned a corner and found himself face to face with Jared and Evan in the flesh. "Hello," He said.
"Morning Connor," Jared replied. "How have you been?"
"Fine. And I saw your conversation. What happened yesterday, it didn't change my view. Michael and I are just ACQUAINTANCES." He gestured 'no' with his arms. Jared smirked.
"Are you sure?"
"Jared leave it-"
"I'm serious."
"Okay. Fine." Connor walked away from them and turned a corner. He walked past a black-haired girl, who stopped when she saw him.
"Um. Hello." She grinned at him.
"Hi. I'm Christine," she replied. She held out a hand. Connor shook it.
"I'm Connor." Christine's eyes lit up.
"Ah. The one the whole school's talking about." Connor let out a groan.
"Does the whole f**king school know about what happened yesterday!?"
"That's what happens when a certain someone can't keep quiet," a voice muttered. "Jeremy! I told you not to tell anyone!" Connor whirled around, eyes landing on Michael. His mouth itched to form a small smile.
"I'm sorry Micha, but something like that doesn't often happen. And not to mention how your eyes lit up when telling me." Michael glared.
"I was f**king embarrassed! How would you feel if you fell into a...*whisper* boy's arms?!" Jeremy let out a snort.
"Is there a reason you whispered that word in the presence of the boy himself?" Connor saw Michael pause and turn slightly red.
"Just- stop talking about it please." Connor let out a small giggle at the teasing. At his giggle, he saw Michael turn slightly redder. He was also smiling slightly.
"So.. Connor how do you feel about the whole situation?"
"Well, I don't like that it's the talk of the school. When will people learn to not exaggerate?" Connor narrowed his eyes in annoyance.
"That's just what some people do I'm afraid."
"Bother." Christine glanced at Jeremy who promptly blinked and looked away. Connor felt himself smirk. Michael looked up and his gaze travelled between the two.
"Does this usually happen?" Connor whispered. Michael walked closer. He stood next to Connor.
"Unfortunately, Yes. If only he had the confidence..."
"I know how you feel. It took me and Jared for forever to get Evan to confess to my sister. He eventually did, and now their dating."
"Oh wow."
"Yeah I know."
"Hopefully it doesn't take him THAT long."
"It might though."
"Yeah."
"Hey, you okay?"
"I'm fine. Why do you ask?"
"You're staring." Michael blinked, blushed, and looked away.
"I should go, see you."
"Bye."
