Chapter 15
Connor was looking at his Instagram. He liked a few of Michael's posts. He gazed at the comments barely noticing his surroundings. He bumped into someone. They stumbled backwards. "Oh sorry!" Connor said holding out his hand to help the person up. The person took his hand. Their eyes met. "You..."
"You..." the boy replied back. Connor blinked at him. He was mildly recognizable. "How have you been?" He asked, gazing away. Connor gazed away as well.
"I've been... well. Sort of happy in fact." The boy smiled and Connor remembered his smiles.
"Really? Might I ask why?" He asked, curiously. Connor blushed and looked at the ground. The boy's eyes widened. "Ohohoho, what have I missed, old amigo?" Connor giggled, his blush darkening as his old friend's smile grew in curiousity.
"Oh it's nothing," he laughed. The boy's eyes narrowed.
"Connor we were good friends before you moved schools," the boy reasoned. "I can tell that something's up, so tell me." Connor sighed.
"Oh, Miguel you know me too well," he said, laughing. "I think I may be crushing on someone." Connor's eyes fell to the floor at his confession. Miguel smiled, and patted Connor's shoulder.
"Who is he?" He asked, curiously. Miguel walked closer to Connor, eyeing him up and down.
"His name is Michael, he's new at my school this year," Connor said. "The only problem is, he kinda reminds me of you." Miguel turned slightly red.
"Maybe that's good?" He suggested. "You can become good friends with him, no? And then maybe he'll fall for you too." Connor shrugged.
"We are kinda friends already," he replied. "I know really know how we are, we just clicked?" Miguel straightened from his hunched position to meet Connor's eyes.
"That's interesting," he commented. "And you like him. Maybe you did just click. Almost reminds me of how we were," Miguel let out a wistful chuckle.
"Oh right, I'm sorry I became distant I just was going through a lot," Connor said. "And then I moved schools." Miguel didn't look at him.
"And I understand that, it just hurt that you kind of left me in the dust," he said. "I want to reconnect with you. It's been too long, amigo." Connor walked until he was beside Miguel.
"I'd love to become friends with you again," he said. "Before Evan and kind of Jared but we kind of bicker, you were my only friend, though no one even knew you by name." Miguel let out a soft chuckle.
"Pass me your phone," he said and Connor handed him it. Miguel typed something into it before passing it back. "You have a new contact."
"Thanks," Connor murmured. Miguel was smiling softly. Nothing had really happened between them because they'd never talked about their feelings, but Connor liked someone else, and Miguel no longer had one on him.
"And hey, maybe I can help you with that crush of yours," Miguel said. Connor rolled his eyes.
"You'd get along with Jared on that matter," he commented. "He will not f**king leave me alone about it."
"Oh really, is that why you do this bickering thing you said you do?"
"Yep, I deny it," Connor admitted. "That was until one time though, I snapped and he overheard me admitting it. So."
"Oh wow. Well, Amigo, I have to be going, it was nice meeting you again."
"You too."
