Chapter 17
It was our one, you know, those class reunion things. There was one person Alder and I disliked intensely, well a few people. He's been mentioned before. Where he works though... karma really is a female dog. No way am I going to say the 'b' word. I didn't have anything against the word, I just disliked swearing. Unfortunately I saw the ginger blur of hair. He was moving quickly that was why his hair was blurred but I was glad Rodney hadn't noticed us yet, if he did at all. "It's kinda early to have one of these isn't it?" Alder asked and I turned to him
"Uh huh, we're only 20. We graduated two years ago..." I replied. Alder nodded in agreement. He was staying close to my side. "It's not like we would've forgotten each other after two years. Some of us aren't even married!"
"Yes," Alder said, grinning almost evilly. "Some of us." I smiled at him, taking his hand. I kissed said hand and Alder blushed, smiling.
"Yes, and some of us are, Mr. Alder Sense," I said, smiling as well. After our marriage Alder had taken my surname. Alder Sense née Foley, my husband. I wondered if we were the only ones in our class who were married. Though, most of our peers probably didn't even know we'd been dating. We'd never said anything explicitly even though we'd been dating for six years now.
"Yes we are, Mr. Sullivan Sense, mon amour," he said. Not caring who saw, I brought my lips to meet his. He smiled into the kiss. We pulled apart after a few seconds. "I love you, Sully."
"I love you too, Alder," I replied. He smiled and gazed at me softly.
"Well, look who it is!" Immediately, I felt anger and dislike as I turned to face the boy. "Nonsense and Dumber!" Age had not changed Rodney's facial features at all, I still recognized the green eyed, roundish faced, sort-of-curly-but-not-really ginger hair of the boy who had bullied my husband in our youth. I took a protective stance in front of Alder. Rodney let out his annoying, snide laugh. "Really, Nonsense? Still standing up for your boyfriend after all these years?"
"Joke's on you," I said, merely smiling. Rodney blinked, and for a minute his cocky attitude was gone in favour of confusion.
"Huh?" I turned to Alder and he looked at me.
"Wanna do it?" Alder smirked.
"Yes, let's." I took Alder's hands in mine in front of Rodney and then proceeded to kiss Alder in front of him. Rodney gasped. Both Alder and I proceeded to look at him with smirks. Rodney stared at us, wide-mouthed.
"Alder, let's go and chat to our peers now," I announced loudly. Alder and I walked off, giggling. "We did a great job, mon amour!"
"Oui! He probably didn't expect it to actually happen! He can't make that joke anymore," Alder agreed, with a wide grin on his face.
"What... the... f**k," I heard Rodney say and looked at him, there was a hand on his head as if he was trying to register what just occurred. I smirked to myself.
"He definitely didn't expect it, I mean, look at him!" I gestured toward Rodney. Alder looked at his former bully and a grin grew on his face.
"Now let's see who else we can talk to," Alder suggested. I nodded and we walked into the crowd. Out of the corner of my eyes I saw a girl heading toward us. I recognized her easily.
Savanna.
"Hey guys!" She said stopping in front of us. "What's new with you two?"
"Nothing mu-" Alder attempted to reply.
"Seeing as you two are dating," she finished. I blinked.
"You knew?" I asked, dumbfounded. "We never said anything..."
"Sully," she said. "You may not have said anything but you didn't exactly hide it either."
"That's true..."
"I just was the one smart enough to work it out. Oh and I noticed that you had stopped basically fangirling over me." I flushed with embarrassment. She knew. She knew how I felt about her all those years ago.
"Well, Sav, we aren't boyfriends anymore, Alder?" Alder proceeded to show her the ring on his finger. "We're married, we're married." My voice got an excited tone to it. She blinked before smiling.
"Oh wow! Congrats guys!" She said, with a little clap. "So, how did this whole thing between you two happen?" Both Alder and I blushed.
"Well, Savanna, you know back in eighth grade?" Alder began. "Well, you apparently knew that Sullivan was crushing on you and all. I was... kinda secretly crushing on him. He didn't know. But whenever you two talked I couldn't help but feel a bit jealous."
"So that's why you always seemed annoyed when I approached... continue."
"But then, I started sensing a change in him. After a while he stopped going off on long tangents about you. He suddenly was almost nervous around me. There'd be long silences. He'd blush when I complimented him." I decided to take over.
"I was blind to what made me do those things, until.... I realized, I'd actually fallen for him. I realized after realizing I wasn't straight. And then well, the rest is history." Savanna smiled at us.
"What a cute love story!" She commented. Alder and I spent the rest of the event chatting to each other.
