Chapter Eleven
Peter's POV
I woke up before Sierra, hearing a commotion on the deck, and I headed out. I saw Lucy directing different people, so I headed over to her.
"What's going on?" I asked, and she turned to me, grinning.
"We're getting things ready for the wedding." I gave her a confused look, and she laughed quietly.
"Remember? You and Sierra were supposed to get married when you came back. So....." Things finally clicked in my mind, and I grinned, wrapping her into a hug.
"Thank you." I whispered, and she returned the hug.
"You're welcome. Now, you need to scram. We're going to start as soon as Sierra is awake and ready, so you'd better be ready too. And you may not see her until it's time." I gave her a look, but she gave me a death glare, and I raised my hands, backing away. When we didn't listen to her about things like that, it was bad for all of us. I went into the other cabin, and chuckled slightly at what I saw laying out on the bed. It was the same thing I'd worn at Caspian's coronation. I changed into it, but I kept my sword and sheath. Then, there was a knock on the door, and Edmund came in.
"Hey. I got kicked out as well. Apparently Sierra just woke up, so Lucy said both of us have to stay in here. I'm not sure why I have to, though." I chuckled slightly, and took a deep breath, sitting down.
"I'm not going to complain, so long as we can actually do this." He smiled at me, and I clenched my fists, trying to keep them from shaking. He noticed, and chuckled slightly.
"Nervous?" He asked, and I smiled weakly, looking up at him.
"Just a bit. But I know this is going to end up being the best day of my life. You'll understand where this happens with you and Cahira." He chuckled slightly, shaking his head.
"I guess so." Then, Caspian knocked, and then poked his head in.
"Are you two ready?" We nodded, and headed out. I went with Caspian, taking my place beside him. Edmund headed in to the room where Sierra was, and I took a deep breath. It was finally time.
Sierra's POV
My heart was pounding as I stood in the small room with Edmund, Lucy, and Cahira. For the first time, part of me wanted to run, but the other part didn't.
"I can do this." I whispered, and Lucy gently squeezed my hand.
"I know you can, Sierra. Trust me. You and Peter have been waiting for this day for so long." I smiled at my soon to be sister-in-law, gently squeezing her hand. Only a couple minutes later, Caspian poked his head in.
"We're ready." I nodded, and Edmund took Cahira's hand, leading her out. Lucy smiled at me one more time, and then left. I took a deep breath, smoothing the skirt of my simple white gown, and picked up the five roses Lucy had gotten for me. I looked out the small window, and saw Peter sifting from foot to foot, and picking at a thread on his shirt. Caspian nodded from the front, and then Edmund opened the door. I quickly pulled the simple sheer veil over her face, and stepped forward. My heart was pounding, but the butterflies took flight again when Peter smiled at me. I got to the front, and took his hand.
"You look beautiful, Sierra. Simply beautiful." He whispered, and I felt her cheeks burning. I handed her roses to Lucy, and then moved my veil and took Peter's hands. Caspian smiled, taking a deep breath, and then began.
"I'm not going to give a big speech, and you know why we're here. I'm not going to go on for that long, and I'll let you two start. Peter?" He took a deep breath, smiling slightly, and began, almost breathless.
"Sierra, I.....I don't even know exactly where to begin. When we met, I....I was a stupid teenager who just wanted to get his family home, and I didn't want anything to do with the several thousand year old teenage girl I met, or the prophecy she told me about. But....as time went on, I fell in love with her, and was too scared to tell her. And then, I told her, and I lost her. And then I got her back again, and lost her after I was able to tell her. Now.....Now I've got her back, and I'm not letting go this time. I love you, Sierra. You waited 1,400 years for me......And I would wait forever for you." He had to force himself not to lean in and kiss her, and Lucy was biting her lip, trying to hit cry. Caspian took a deep breath, and then spoke.
"Okay.....Peter, I was trying to not cry today. Thank you for that. Sierra?" I took a deep breath, blinking back tears, and then looked up.
"Peter....When we met, I was determined on doing one thing, and one thing alone. I wanted to get rid of the woman who had ruined so much of my life. I thought I was too hardened....too hurt.....Too badly damaged to be able to love anymore. And you....You broke me. You shattered the stone I'd put around my heart. And when I lost you, it hurt. But sometimes.....Sometimes the pain is how you know that you still do have a heart. You helped me be able to love again. I love you, Peter. More than words can say. I've already waited what seems like forever for you, and I would do it again in a heartbeat." Caspian smiled, and I heard a couple of sniffles from Lucy. We exchanged the rings, and said the formal vows. Then, Caspian smiled again, and stepped back.
"By the power given to me through Aslan, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Peter....You may now kiss your bride." He smiled wider than ever, and wrapped his arms around me, pulling me close and kissing me. I smiled, closing her eyes, and then after a minute, we pulled away. Then, I looked over at Edmund and Cahira, smirking.
"You two next?" Everyone burst into laughter, and Cahira blushed bright red. Edmund grinned, kissing her cheek. A little while later, we stood on the top deck, finally somewhat away from everyone else.
"I love you, Sierra. And I always will." He kissed me, and then I rested my forehead against his.
"I'll love you for another thousand years, Peter. I promise."
