Chapter 8

Hermione's Pov
Recap:
"This is Sydney. Kingsley said the Ministry was under a building called the Opera House."
We looked around and saw a massive white building with a very odd shaped roof. Or roofs.
"I reckon that's it."
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go in."
Harry, Ron Ginny and Hermione walked into the building. They had decided to pack all their belongings into bigger-on-the-inside backpacks so they didn't look conspicuous. Hermione looked around and spotted a reception desk. She walked over, Harry, Ron and Ginny in tow.
"Hello." she said to the receptionist. He would have been early-30s, with brown hair and a calm posture.
"G'day." he said. "Your name?"
"I'm Hermione Granger, and this is Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Ginny Weasley."
"Harry Potter? I think I may have heard of you. Chosen one?"
Harry moved forward. "Yeah. I'm famous here?"
"Yep. All over the Wizard's Digest recently. Killed some bloke by the name of Voldemort, yeah?"
"Not just some bloke, but yeah." he muttered, grinning.
"What's your business here then?"
"Well we were sent by our Minister for Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt, to talk to someone about finding my parents."
"Ah, yes." He closed the book he had been flicking through, and pointed vaguely to a door. "Through there is the woman you're looking for. Name's Julie Bishop. She's a member of Muggle Parliament, but she's a muggle-born witch. Proud to call her a member of the Ministry. Have a nice day!" With that, he returned to his book.
"Well. I guess we're seeing this Julie lady."
They walked over to the door he'd pointed to. It had the name "Julie Bishop" on it in gold letters, and underneath the name it said "Foreign dealings". She thought that could mean she was like a gateway, almost between the Australian wizards and others. Harry knocked on the door.
"Come in!" said a muffled female voice from inside. Ginny turned the doorknob and the door opened. They walked into the room and saw a pretty standard office. There was a desk with a jar of Bertie Bott's, a lounge, pictures and a few notebooks.
"Hello. My name's Julie. I deal with foreign wizards here. Have you enjoyed Australia so far?" She held out her hand for them to shake, which they all did.
"Harry Potter, and yes." said Harry. "Is it always this hot?"
Julie laughed. "I guess this is hot for you. It's only 30 degrees. Not too bad."
Ron scrunched his face up. "Not... too hot?"
Julie smiled. "No. Not at all. Now, I hear you're here to recover your parents?" She addressed Hermione.
"Yes, Ms Bishop. Before the big war we just had I wanted to keep them safe, and so I sent them here."
"Great place too. No one comes here. Apart from Asian tourists. (no disrespect intended, speaking from experience.)" She laughed. "Really, though, good choice. Voldemort would never choose to come here." She got up and pointed to a map of Australia with blinking lights. "This is a map of all the wizards and witches in Australia."
"Do the lights represent communities or individual people?" asked Ginny.
"They represent magical communities with over 100 people. The more people," she pointed to a large dot halfway up the Eastern coast, "the larger the dot gets. This is the Gold Coast, where we have our school, hence the large amount of lights." She moved her finger halfway down the map, to another considerably-sized dot. "This is where we are now, Sydney."
"So how will that help me find my parents?" she asked.
"Their next of kin, you, is a witch, so they will appear with a blue light on this map." She flicked her wand and the yellow lights disappeared, replaced by a smattering of blue. "You left them in Sydney, yes?"
"I did."
"So they will be one of these dots. If we move in, we get names."
"Like the Marauder's Map." muttered Harry to Hermione.
Julie zoomed in on the map and pointed to a dot saying Mary and Steven Granger.
"That's them! Thanks Ms Bishop!"
"No problems, go find them!"
