Chapter 1
Harry's POV
I woke up.
Yesterday was the biggest day of my life. I had defeated Voldemort. I couldn't believe it, after all this time, losing so many great people, he was finally dead. Both joy and extreme sadness washed over me at once. Joy at the fact that no one else would have to die at the hands of Voldemort and his followers, and sadness when I thought about Remus, Tonks, Fred and the many others that just died. I even felt a little remorse for Snape, but I haven't fully forgiven him for the bully he was. Then I thought of Ginny.
Ginny.
I hadn't seen her since the battle ended. I hoped that she didn't hate me for the death of her brother. Ginny was one of the things that helped me get through last year's Horcrux hunt. My life without her would be a... a life not worth living. I needed to find her.
I quickly got out of my bed in the Gryffindor common room. Apparently sometime during the night Neville and Seamus had come up. They were sound asleep, the Sword of Gryffindor lying on Neville's bedside table. I quietly got dressed, grabbed my invisibility cloak and looked at the clock. It read 10:30am. I had been asleep for over a day. I walked down to the Great Hall. It was full of people. I spotted the Weasleys and Hermione. They were all eating and Ron and Hermione were holding hands. Ginny was playing with her mashed potatoes with her head in her hand, a sad expression on her face. I went over under the Cloak and sat down in the empty space next to Ginny. I pulled the Cloak off.
"Hey Ginny" I said, hoping that she would be quiet and not draw attention.
"Harry!" she whispered. She grabbed my hand and put the Cloak on us. "Come with me".
Ginny lead me to an empty classroom. "Harry. Put your hand on your heart and repeat after me".
I smiled. I put my hand on my heart.
"I, Harry James Potter"
"I, Harry James Potter"
"Was a bloody idiot"
"Was a bloody idiot"
"When I broke up with you, Ginny Molly Weasley"
"When I broke up with you, Ginny Molly Weasley"
"I will now beg you to take me back"
"I will now beg you to take me back"
I smiled. This was one of the reasons I liked... no, loved Ginny. "Gin, while we were away trying to defeat Voldemort, I would take out the Marauder's Map every night and look at the dot labeled 'Ginny Weasley'. This gave me hope, and told me that you were still alive. I missed you so much last year. I love you" I said.
Ginny reached up and put her arms around my neck, said "I love you too, Potter" and then kissed me. It was even better than the one we shared on my birthday last year. It made up for the year we could have had together, and all the lost moments. We stood there, her hand running through my hair, my hand on her back. Then we heard someone clear their throat, and we jumped apart.
"Potter, Weasley, enjoying yourselves?"
It was Professor McGonagall.
"Uh, yeah Professor." I stuttered. Ginny laughed.
"I can tell. I came in here looking for Peeves and Sir Nicholas. You haven't seen them at all, have you?" she asked us.
"No, Professor, we haven't" said Ginny. "Sorry".
"That's quite alright. I'm going to go now. Have fun" she added, smirking.
When Professor McGonagall had left, Ginny turned to me. "Harry, when you were away last year, what were you doing exactly?" she asked me. "I know you were at Bill and Fleur's for a time, but what happened when you weren't there?" I thought that Ginny deserved to know the truth. I told her about the Horcruxes, about infiltrating the Ministry, about camping out in forests and about Ron ditching Hermione and I. She cut in. "That GIT! How dare he do that?" she probably would have gone on but I stopped her.
"Gin, he came back. He saved my life" I said, remembering the frozen lake, the doe and the Sword. I told her about Godric's Hollow and obviously Ron saving me. Then I told her about Malfoy Manor and Dobby's death. We both choked up at this bit. Dobby had saved my life, and he was now dead. Then I told her about Gringotts, and the dragon. "Charlie will have your heads!" she muttered. I laughed. Then I told her everything up until now. She had quite a shocked expression on her face and a few tears were running down her cheeks.
"My turn." she says. "When we came back to Hogwarts, we could already tell something was up. We were searched at the gate and Gryffindors were punched and cursed for no reason. Then came the Sorting. Anyone sorted into anything but Slytherin was beaten then sent to their seats. Then the Carrows started using the Cruciatus Curse. I got it four times" Ginny stopped. I hugged her. Tears started falling down her cheeks. "Harry... Neville got it five times, as did Seamus. It was hard, Harry".
I kissed her. "It's alright now Ginny" I said, my face an inch from hers. "Voldemort is dead. There is peace now".
