-Chapter 5- -impossible-
I looked outside my window, teenagers at the park, across my aunts house.
Regular teens who have regular lives, and regular parents.
I sighed.
I was in the living room staring out the window watching two guy teenagers play football, while some were we're playing frisbee or flirting with girls.
"Mia, have you seen my keys?" My aunt asked looking around.
I watched her bend over and look under the couch.
She looked over at me waiting for an answer as she knew I wasn't going to speak to her, I shook my head in response.
"I wonder where I left them. I guess I'll just have to take another car."
"You have another car?" Brandon came from behind.
I looked over at him.
Why would he ask that question? My aunts a millionaire.
I studied him, he was in black sweats and a grey t-shirt, with black socks.
I looked over at the clock.
12:34pm.
I looked back over at him.
He looked at me.
He smiled.
I turned away.
He sat by me.
I stood up.
He grabbed my arm.
"Why do you always ignore me?"
I shrugged my shoulders.
His eyes looked tired from lack of sleep maybe.
He definitely just woke up, his hair is messy and may I admit, it was hot.
No, Mia stop.
I pulled my arm back to be free from his grip.
"Well, I'm staying with your aunt for awhile." He said.
I stopped where I was.
"You probably thought I was a gardener or waiter, I'm not, your aunt was nice enough to let me stay with her since my folks are out of town." He explained.
So he wasn't working here?
I nodded my head, as I turned to him.
I gave him a genuine smile and walked into the kitchen.
I grabbed an orange from the fruit basket and started to peel it.
Man this was hard to peel.
I stabbed my finger into the orange and orange sour juice stung me in the eye.
"Ow." I cupped my eye.
"Need help?"
I turned around.
I guess Brandon hadn't left.
I handed the orange to Brandon.
"There you go." He said smiling.
"Thanks."
"So you do talk?"
I blushed.
"Hey Brandon." Josh greeted coming in to the house.
He had a whole bunch of paper bags filled with groceries.
Brandon and I rushed over to help him.
"Let me help you mate." Brandon said.
"Thanks." He handed Brandon some bags.
I tried helping him with some bags but Josh refused.
"No I can do it it's fine."
"Josh let me help you." I said loud enough for only Josh to hear.
"Mia stop. I can do it it's fine."
I grabbed the bags from him and Set them on the table.
He rolled his eyes and gave me a hug.
I hugged him back.
Man he smelled good.
"Ahem."
I met go of Josh and turned to Brandon.
I could feel my face turn different shades of pink and red.
"So you two.." Brandon was signaling to both of us.
"No." I quickly said a little embarrassed after I realized I answered to quickly.
Josh turned a little red and looked at me.
I looked away.
It was quiet for a moment.
"So.." Josh broke the silence.
"So you guys don't have a thing right?"
"Ummm, no we're just friends." Josh said trying to be casual.
"I'm going now." I said starting up the stairs.
I stopped in the middle of the stairs as Brandon spoke.
"So man, you don't mind if I ask Mia out ?"
Oh God.
"Well," Josh hesitated.
"You don't like her or something do you?" Brandon asked.
I listened so closely I almost tripped over the stairs.
"No, of course not." Josh said.
Why was I disappointed at his response?
"So can I, you know ask her out?"
"Yeah go right ahead." Josh said.
Wow.
That. hurt. so. bad.
I ran upstairs.
I was in the upstairs living room.
Yep, I was lost in this house again.
I have never been in the upstairs living room before.
I looked at it.
It had a huge tv screen, it had red leather couches that faced the TV screen.
The floor was a cherry red wood.
There was a book shelf by the red leather one seat couch.
I walked over to the bookshelf.
It had dusty old antique books that have probably never been read or touched.
I reached to grab one.
"Excuse me?"
I turned around.
A woman that looked about her mid thirties said.
"Do you mind?"
She pointed to the tv.
I understood now that I was in the way of the tv.
"Sorry." I said low enough she probably didn't even hear me.
"It's alright dear, just keep dustin' that book shelf."
"Oh. I don't work here."
Her eyes went wide.
"Why are ya here than?" She had an accent and was chewing on gum.
"I'm Melissa's niece." I spoke.
She turned off the TV and jumped off the couch so quickly I barley even noticed.
"Please don't tell her. I was watching the news on sorry please don't tell her."
She pleaded.
I looked confused, then I understood.
She was a maid.
I noticed her outfit.
It was a dress?
It had black underneath, it had a white apron on top at the bottom of the apron it had some sort of design with pink pockets and a pink bow and it had ruffles at the sides of the sleeves.
Whoa, my aunt really had nice taste.
"It's o-okay." I said.
"It won't happen again I promise."
I shrugged it off and asked her the first thing that came to mind.
"Do you live here?"
"Yes I do. Most workers live here. Some spend nights. My room is that just across that hallway."
She pointed to the left hallway.
"Do they all have a room in that hallway?"
"Yes."
"Are you married?" I asked no thinking what I said, I was once again ashamed.
"I'm divorced." She frowned a little.
"Sorry I didn't mean-"
"Don't be silly," she said.
"It's alright. I get a lot of questions like that, I probably should start not wearing the ring." She looked at her finger.
"I'm sorry." Is all I could manage to day.
"Don't worry about it dear." She smiled.
"Do you have any children?"
"Yes, I have two actually, they're twins.
But unfortunately I don't have custody of them. They live with their grandparents. They were taken away from me because I didn't have the kind of money to support them. I made a lot of mistakes back then."
"How old are they."
"They're just about to turn 10 next month. I'm visiting them, and I'm saving up for something special they'll love." Her eyes sparkled in delight.
I smiled.
"Are they both boys?" I asked.
"One girl one boy." She smiled wider at the thought of them .
"Mia!?" My aunt yelled.
"Well I better get cleaning." She said with a smile.
I nodded and left.
I Sped walk as I could not find my way back to the downstairs living room.
I found some stairs and ran down them after about 5 minutes of running around the house.
"Oh, there you are. Did you get lost again?" My aunt asked in laughter.
"Dinner is almost ready." She said.
My aunt was drinking a cup of ice tea at the table.
Only my aunt, Brandon, and I were the ones at the table.
I felt like asking 'where is Josh?' But I remembered that employees and us Don't eat together.
I sighed.
I got my plate, it smelled really good.
I had no idea what it was.
I just ate my beans as I was not in the mood for tasting new food.
My stomach growled at how much it wanted more but I simply ignored it.
"So Brandon, are you excited for school?"
Apparently Brandon is in the same grade as me.
And his first day is next week.
My aunt has encouraged me to go, but I'd rather fail at online schooling than going to regular public school where everyone hates me.
I'll pass, thank you for the offer.
"More nervous rather than exited." He laughed as he responded.
As Brandon laughed so did my aunt.
"Mia, why don't you go to school?" Brandon asked.
"She does online schooling." My aunt answered for me.
"Whys that?" He asked.
I shrugged my shoulders.
I looked at my aunt.
She nodded meaning I can be excused.
I'm always spending every day in my room.
Today I decided to explore a little around the house.
---10 minutes exploring the house---
I didn't even know there was a basement until I found a door that had a sign that said. 'Basement'
Wow Mia your just so clever.
I ignored my inner self and headed down stairs without closing the door, in case I get locked in here.
The stairs creaked, I hated that.
I sped down the stairs so I wouldn't hear the stairs creak every time I stepped on them.
It wasn't at all what I expected.
I thought it would be old, dusty and unorganized.
Like in movies really Mia?
I mentally rolled my eyes at myself.
I expected it to be dark.
I guess since there was about 3 windows, and it was daylight the sun brought in light.
It looked clean.
The only thing here that I saw unorganized was some files scattered in the middle of the desk.
It looked recent as if someone had just been here.
I made sure no one was in here before I headed towards the desk at the very far wall of the basement.
It was actually pretty roomy in here.
I opened the file.
The Walker Family. It read.
It had each and every one of my family's name including a description at the side of each name.
I didn't know how to feel about this.
I had my fathers name first.
Robby Walker: Has twins, is in his late thirties. Is Married to Madeline DeLaurentis. Tried Giving up one twin to the orphanage. (Kennedy Walker) is in prison for the illegal use of drugs, and physical/sexual abuse of his daughter(s).
My mothers name was next.
Madeline DeLaurentis: Has twins, in her mid thirties, works in a drugstore, asked for a divorce.
Then Kennedy's.
Kennedy Walker: Has a twin sister, has been arrested 5 times, is 17years of age. Was born August 23, 1998 At 2:30pm.
Finally, Me.
Mia Walker: Has a twin sister, no recorded owned, taken away from her father. Is 17 years of age. Was born August 23,1998 At 2:35pm.
There were things in here I didn't even know about.
•My parents are still married.
•Dad tried giving up Kennedy.
Why does it say he sexually abused us?.....
*Remembers Flashback.*
My eyes widen.
•Dad raped.....Kennedy.
•My mother worked in a drugstore?
•Mom had asked for a divorce? Why?
•Kennedy had been arrested 5 times! For what?
•Kennedy was older than me!
(Not that important but still.)
My family is one messed up family.
I didn't notice tears had fell from my eyes.
I close the file and put it the way it was.
I walk around the basement to distract myself.
There is two rooms.
One of the rooms is stuffed with complete boxes.
The other one is how Josh and I argued.
It went a little like this:
"Josh? What are you doing down here?"
"Mia! Um. Uh- nothing." He bolted right up from where he was kneeling.
He was digging into a box of files.
"What's that?" I asked pointing to his hands obviously what he was trying to hide.
"Nothing." He responded too quick.
"Josh."
"Mia."
His voice was shaky and nervous.
"How did you get down here anyway?" He asked.
"That's not important. Answer my question."
"I thought you were your aunt ha." He tried changing the subject.
"Why would my aunt be down here?"
I asked curiously.
"No, r-reason."
I went up to him and snatched whatever he was hiding from behind his back.
I looked at it long enough to probably make me hate him.
"Are you researching my history?!" I said angry.
"No."
He lied.
Josh lied.
He just lied.
Josh just lied.
He just lied to my face.
Josh just lied to my face.
I threw the file to his face.
"Really?"
"I'm sorry." He looked down.
"Don't ever come near me again."

I woke up panting heavily.
It was a dream.
It was just a dream.
A part of me was relieved this was a dream.
The other part of me was trying to steady my breath to try and calm myself down before going in anxiety mode.
10 minutes had past and I managed to calm myself down.
It was still dark outside.
I looked at the clock,
5:55 am.
It wasn't long before the sun started to come out.
Knowing I wasn't going to bed anytime soon, I started thinking what I would do today.
First I was going to take a shower, get dressed, and go to the park for a walk.
I got lost in my thoughts I forgot about the basement.
I bolted right out of bed and went straight out of my bedroom and started walking around all over the place to where I saw the door.
Turns out. There is a basement.
