Prologue
"Which room ya want?" The bored receptionist huffed, her blue bubblegum bubble popping not nearly as audible as the complaining inside the building was.
"Any.." The nervous one stood. The receptionist looked down at the bag in his hand, raising a brow at the chainsaw-ish shape and rolling her eyes. She turned around and grabbed a key hanging, passing it to him.
"Room 102. First floor. You'll be sharing with whoever I think would be tolerable." Despite the receptionists rude personality, she visibly seemed to care who would be a perfect roommate. The lone figure nods, silently exiting the line, deciding to use the elevator and setting the heavy bag down once inside it.
"Next." The lady sighs, instantly jumping back when an excited man reaches the counter. "What room you want Laurence?" He grins to the shorter. "First floor." He grumbles, looking towards the staircase. The lady hesitantly hands them two keys to room 109 and the taller boy drags the other boy towards the stairs, but not before telling the two behind them to get a room next to them.
"108." One of them state plainly. The lady gives them two keys to the specific room and they follow the other two up. The receptionist stares at the next person that comes up to the desk for a good second. "You old enough to be here, kid?"
The nervous girl rubs her arm, unwilling to speak. Her companions come up behind her, "She's thirteen, no worries!" The guy reassures the receptionist. "Don't care. What room." The guy looks at the shy girl, "First floor preferably, just in case." The lady nods, handing them two keys to room 101. "Can there not be three to a room?" The guy asks curiously. The lady shakes her head, giving them a hand gesture of only two people to a room and the two look at their other companion. "Get a room nearby us, Karmi! We'll wait for you by the stairs."
And wait they did, they stood there while the lady gave the other kid her room key, room 102 with that other person from the beginning of the line and they all left together.
The lady bites her cheek to not say anything rude about style choices as two more people approach the desk. "Top floor. I ain't taking any chances." The white haired man muttered. The blonde boy beside him nodded, Requesting an even numbered room? She handed them two keys to room 306 and they left using the stairs.
"Any floor. Make it snappy." The next girl demands, her hand already out and making a grabbing motion. The lady grimaces and gives her a key to room 309. She snatches it and walks off with her luggage to the elevator. The receptionist shudders in distaste and looks at the next people.
"Any floor without that psycho that just left on it." Speaks a girl who raises a brow towards the retreating figure, tapping her foot next to a guy who had a small smile on his face. The lady nodded, respecting their decision and gives them both a key to room 201.
She taps her fingers on the desk when the next people in line don't step up and snaps her fingers in their direction. "People like you make my day a lot worse."
"Oh forgive me for not being up to your liking, princess." One of the three growls as their probably girlfriend puts a hand on their chest to back them up a little from the desk lady. "Any room is fine with us." She puts on a small smile as the receptionist hands them two keys to room 305. They wait by the elevator for the next person, striking up a conversation.
The receptionist wordlessly hands them a room key to 203. Not caring that the group won't be on the same floor.
"What's still open?" The next young girl asks, her bag noticeably overstuffed. "207." The receptionist hands her the key as the girl runs over to the elevator, catching it just in time as the earlier group of three gets in. She joins them, saying a quick hello and her floor number.
The elevator goes up, and the receptionist assumes the group of three actually had enough kindness to let the young girl go to her room first. Either that or they only did it because their friend had a room on the same floor as the younger girl.
"Are we still able to room together?" The receptionist turns her attention back to the desk towards the two there. They seemed to be siblings.
"Yeah, 304." The girl nods at her brother and takes the two keys held out to them, passing one to her brother. They both have a short discussion as they got out of line, deciding to take the stairs.
The receptionist sighed as the line was empty, going to the back room and grabbed herself some tea. She didn't even get to take a sip until she heard someone clear their throat.
She exited the back room, being greeted by the sight of a tall man. A few others were behind him, waiting patiently. "Oh golly, I hope we didn't bother you." One of the two women behind him said, the receptionist waved it off, saying it was fine before handing everyone a key to the rooms available. The tall man was handed a key to room 203, the two women behind him were handed the last unoccupied room, 208, and the last guy in the back received the other key to room 309.
They all left after receiving their keys. The group split up, the two women taking the elevator while the two guys decided to take the stairs. The receptionist concludes one of the men had a problem with tight spaces.
After a little bit more waiting, another person finally entered. The receptionist looked at him and put the very last key on the desk, room 207, allowing him to take it. The boy nodded respectfully and used the elevator to go up once it came back down. The receptionist noted the slight limp to his right leg as he made his way over there.
After concluding that would be the last person, she gulped down her last bit of tea and put the cup in the back room sink. She then went to the hotel doors and locked them up.
She was given her own room in the hotel, the manager being nice enough to do so. She headed there quietly, her room key in hand, and hoped the residents who now stayed in the hotel would not make any ruckus once she settled in for the night.
