Until She Comes
The male sat down on the cliff in the clearing. He was near the forest they had used when fighting the giant. He had told a Yuuei student to meet him here, he wanted to talk to her about something. This place was a precautionary decision, after all, he wasn’t just gonna let a hero candidate walk on into Deika City, the base of the PLF.
It was getting pretty dark as the sunset cast light on the trees that encased the clearing. Luckily, the sun wasn’t in his eyes so he didn’t have to squint or anything. He was tired, yes, he hadn’t slept since he started fighting Gigantomachia, which was a good few months ago; about five and a half, if the Doctor wasn’t lying about the operation taking four months to complete.
He let out a sigh as the soft sunset breeze played with his white hair, making it stand out from the white fur of his red coat. It didn’t matter if it was cold or dark, he’d wait there until she comes. He wasn’t going to miss this chance to meet her for the first time in 15 years.
His hands curled around the slightly damp grass, even his prosthetic fingers he had in replacement for the three Re-Destro cut off in their fight. Who cared how long it took her to get there? It wasn’t everyday someone oh so anonymous reached out to a UA student to meet in an inhabited forest in the middle of nowhere. He had told her to come alone but it didn’t bother him if she made the journey with a friend or not. After all, this would perhaps be his only time to talk to her about this.
His red shoes collided with the dusty, hard and rocky surface that the cliff rested on like a blanket laying on a human. He left his shoes to perch on the surface as he heard two females talking, “You sure this is the right place, Yaomomo?” one voice asked.
“I’m certain, this is the place he sent in the messages, Kyoka,” the other voice ‘Yaomomo’ answered. That was her, the person he reached out. He was certain Yaomomo was a nickname of her nickname. He had seen Kyoka Jirou in the sports festival, so he knew these were the Yuuei kids, “He asked me to meet him alone, wanting to talk to me about something important. Do you mind if I go alone and you wait a bit further back?” Yaomomo then asked Kyoka.
“Not at all, just stay safe,” Kyoka responded.
“I will, don’t worry,” she smiled.
His red eyes watched as she entered the clearing. She was in her hero costume, a dark red cape on top of her normal red costume, “Hello?” she asked, her blue eyes looking around, trying to find the man who had invited her here.
“Up here, Momo,” he answered, his voice a bit more friendlier than when he usually talked to people. She looked up, seeing him sitting on the cliff. She walked over to him, a slight bounce in her step.
“You’re the guy who asked to meet with me?” she asked.
“Yeah, yeah I am,” he answered.
She sat down beside him, her cloak laying on the grass, “Have you heard of the Shimura family?” he asked her, not meeting her eyes.
“Yeah, wasn’t there an accident 15 years ago and there was only one survivor who went missing?” Momo responded.
“No, there were two survivors, the news was wrong about it, for once. There was the five year old boy who later went missing, yes, but there was another one. She was only one when the incident happened, Mona. Mona Shimura,” he answered. He let out a sigh, he himself barely remembered the events of the incident, “The boy, Tenko, took his younger sister and ran away from home. He gave his sister to a family,” he added on. Momo was listening to the story with content. She had no idea as to why he was telling her this story, but it felt a bit familiar to her. She remembered something.
A boy walked up to a couple, who had just announced they wanted to adopt a baby, “Um, sir, ma'am, could- could you perhaps take care of my younger sister? She’s only one year old. I couldn’t help but overhear you wanting to adopt someone,” he asked, not looking up at the couple.
“Oh? I’m sure we could do that. Where are your family, though?” the woman asked.
“Oh- um, they died in a villain attack recently, my sister and I are the only survivors,” he lied. He wasn’t really used to talking to adults other than his mother, father and grandparents so he was pretty awkward in his speech.
“I’m so sorry to hear that. What is you sister called?” the male asked once more.
“She’s called Mona, but please, rename her with her nickname Momo,” the boy answered.
“What about you, kid?” the female asked, “Where are you going to go?”
“I’m going to roam around. I, I stopped the villain, my quirk manifested during it and, and, it split into pieces. I don’t know what Momo's quirk is, though. But we know she has one as she doesn’t have the double toe joint, I think,” the boy answered awkwardly, scratching his neck with his fingers.
“We’ll gladly take her in our hands, and, I’m sorry about the way your quirk manifested,” the male smiled. The boy showed a small smile, but he still didn’t look up at them.
“Thank you,” he bowed and hand over a rather large basket that his baby sister was in. He walked away, going back to his pretty shy and small composure, blending into the crowd.
“Little Momo ____” the last name seemed blurred and the memory ended.
Momo blinked, noticing the stranger was looking at her, “You okay?” he asked her, his red eyes slightly concerned.
“I remember some strange event, a boy giving his little sister to a couple. I don’t know if they’re married or not,” Momo answered.
“That was when he gave his sister to a couple and went away, when he was declared missing some time after,” the male responded.
“I don’t know the last name, but they shared my name. Apparently it’s a nickname her brother called her,” Momo added on.
“Then, they received a nickname of that nickname. The boy never did go missing, either. He too was taken in by someone,” the man sighed.
“How do you know all this?” Momo asked, her blue eyes shining with confusion.
“I... I am the boy from the case. I am Tenko Shimura,” he stated, Momo's eyes widening.
“You mean, you- you’re the kid? The one who gave his younger sister to the family?” Momo asked.
“Yeah, yeah I am Momo,” Tenko answered, his voice going back to the normal raspy version.
“Yet, you sound like that villain, Tomura Shigaraki, the guy who attacked the USJ and was behind Bakugo's kidnapping,” she added on.
“Who’s to say we can’t be the same person? Sensei took me in not long after I gave Momo to the family,” Tomura admitted, looking at her right in the eyes.
“But- why haven’t you killed me yet?” Momo asked.
“I can’t harm my own lil sis, can I?” he answered.
“You mean, WHAT?” Momo asked.
“Momo Yaoyorozu, you are Mona Shimura. Hey sis, it’s been a while,” he stated, a small smile creeping onto his face. It was pretty noticeable as it grew, it was a rather happy smile.
“T-Tenko,” Momo stuttered, she remembered, she remembered everything. She stood up and hugged him.
Tomura was slightly shocked, he hadn’t had anyone embrace him in a hug in years so it took a moment to respond. He hugged back after a moment of shock. She was only just shorter than him, by an inch anyway, “You should probably stand up,” Momo suggested after a minute or so. She unwrapped her arms around him and he followed suit, standing up.
He turned and faced the Sunset, Momo adverting her eyes to it too. It was a rather pretty one, hues of reds, yellows and oranges. They watched it for a few minutes before Momo remembered Kyoka was with her, “I’m, I’m so sorry Tenko, but I have to go. Kyoka might think I died or something,” she spoke.
“It’s perfectly fine. Though I would like us to meet again in this exact clearing,” Shigaraki smiled. He was kinder to his siblings. I mean, who wouldn’t be? It was only his Father he really only hated.
“Sure, just don’t be so mysterious this time,” she laughed before walking back into the woods.
Kyoka looked up from where she was leaning against a tree, “By the smile on your face things went , Yaomomo?” she asked Momo as she walked into view.
“Yeah, you could say I had a family reunion,” Momo grinned.
“Good to hear. Now let’s get back to Yuuei before Aizawa-Sensei puts us under house arrest,” Jirou laughed slightly. Momo cast one last glance at the clearing before the two of them walked off towards the nearest Airport, Momo having a bounce in her step as she went
