"Summer! Wake up! We need to leave!" Summer Blanchet was simultaneously being shouted at, and shaken awake by her brother, Hayden.
"Leave... Where to...?" She grumbled, half in her sleep, and rolled back over, only to be startled into a sitting position, as a sharp flash emitted from her brother's wand, flying into her face. That's when she came to her senses- they would soon be making their way to London, for the train, and in turn, Hogwarts.
"Watch it, you." She forcefully shoved him out of her bedroom, and turned back around to stare at the hopeless mess of belongings scattered on top of and around her trunk. This will be fun, she thought to herself, as she got to her hands and knees. She wished she were seventeen already, as magic would make this a whole lot easier, she thought, as she attempted to neatly fold and arrange everything into her trunk.
Once finished, she hurried downstairs, and found Hayden shovelling cereal into his mouth, then throwing the bowl down on a side table.
"You ready?" He asked, whilst pulling on his boots, it was surprising to see her brother so adamant about being there on time. Summer nodded, but glanced around the entrance hall.
"Where's mother? I thought she would at least see us off." Hayden shrugged and grabbed his and Summer's luggage, throwing open the door, and leading them out.
"She's probably busy, it's whatever," he tried to reassure her as he watched her disgruntled expression.
"Right," she muttered, and together they started their way to Kings Cross station, the first step to their new school.

Once on the platform, her excitement quickly subsided. She realised that she didn't recognise any of the faces before her. She had had visions of reuniting with all of her old school friends, yet the scene before her was as unfamiliar as walking down any crowded London street. Hayden saw her eyes fluttering nervously around, and took the lead, grabbing her shaky hand and leading her towards the carriage entrances.
"Don't worry, once you get there, you're bound to make new friends," he whispered into her ear.
"But how? Everyone here has established friend groups for six years Hayden! Six!" It was safe to say that Summer was slightly panicked.
"Exactly, so you're, or should I say we're going to be exciting to them, a couple of fresh faces to liven things up." Summer chuckled, she knew Hayden was exaggerating a bit, but her nerves felt eased for now.
They had been searching for an empty carriage for what felt like forever, and Summer was getting sick of the disgruntled looks on people's faces, as they interrupted their conversations.
Finally, they reached one that wasn't full, in fact, it only had three people in it. Two seemingly identical red-headed boys sat talking to another guy opposite them. They looked up curiously, as the siblings took a step inside.
"Is it alright if we sit here? Everywhere else is full," Hayden looked to the trio.
"Yeah, no problem," One of the twins said, beckoning them in with a sweeping gesture and broad grin. "I don't recognise you two, what houses are you in?"
"Uh... We haven't exactly got one yet," Hayden said, sitting down next to Summer. The twins looked shocked at this.
"But you can't be first years?"
"Bloody hell, how many times were you held back?"
"They're not first years you idiots, they probably just transferred, right guys?" Their friend spoke for the first time.
"Yeah," Summer almost stuttered, but caught herself in time.
"Well anyway, nice to meet you, I'm Fred and this is my friend Lee,"
"And I'm excited to see you guys go up with the first years to be sorted, we'll be laughing from the big boy seats," he chuckled to himself before focusing again. "Oh, and I'm George by the way." He stuck out his hand for them to shake, which they did.
"I'm Hayden Blanchet, and this is my sister, Summer," she gave a polite smile and leaned further back into her seat. Fred looked slightly caught off guard.
"Summer Blanchet?" He repeated.
"Yeah..." She hadn't a clue as to why her name seemed to interest him so much.
"Sorry, your name just sounded really familiar, that's all..."
George nudged him in the ribs. "Stop being weird mate," he muttered.
"Well I did go here for my first year, and Hayden too, but we were in Slytherin." She watched the uneasy looks that fell across the three boys' faces.
"Oh, well I can't have known you then. The only Slytherins I've had the pleasure of speaking to are the Quidditch team players." He rolled his eyes before going quiet.
"Must be Gryffindors or something," Hayden whispered into Summer's ear after the conversation seemed to have gone cold. She didn't understand the prejudice towards them, no one at Beauxbatons judged people on their houses, so why were the students here so different?
For the remainder of the journey, Summer and Hayden engaged in light chatter, reading, and Hayden even managed to fit in a short nap before the train arrived. Throughout this, however, Summer noticed, from the corner of her eye, one of the twins staring inquisitively at her now and again, as if trying to figure something out. After deciding it was nothing, and that she didn't want to be involved in any sort of drama before she'd even reached the castle, she sighed and began picking up her things, ready to depart the train.
❀❀❀
Ridiculous. That was the only way to describe the way Hayden and Summer Blanchet felt at that moment, standing heads above the frightened-looking first years fidgeting next to them. She had never thought that she'd have to do this twice in her life. Just as she was getting fed up, a witch that she recognised as Professor McGonagall appeared, as tight-lipped as she remembered her.
"Hello again you two, lovely to have you back. Now you will both be re-sorted first, so can you please start the line, thank you."
After they had shuffled through the hoards of eleven-year-olds, the professor opened the heavy oak doors of the Great Hall, and they commenced their entrance. It seemed that every eye in the room was on them. At first, the shock and perhaps confusion were too apparent for words. But within seconds, hushed whispers filled the hall, and Summer knew they were about them. She was glad to have Hayden next to her, or she wouldn't know what she'd have done. She looked to him for comfort but saw his eyes searching the Hufflepuff table.
"Looking for Cedric? Seriously? He was at ours the whole summer," she whispered as inconspicuously as possible- he only rolled his eyes.
"You don't understand because you don't have a best friend," Hayden taunted back.
"I do too! She's just in another country."
"Mhm."
Once they'd reached the sorting hat, Dumbledore rose from his seat, silencing the pupils with a tap on his glass.
"Now now!" He paused, surveying the crowd, "As you can see, we have some new transfer students from the marvellous school, Beauxbatons joining us, I am sure you will all be kind to them. Now if you please, let the sorting begin!"
Hayden gave Summer's shoulder a light squeeze as Professor McGonagall called her name and she stepped forward. She knew she was to be put in Slytherin like she was before, but the Sorting hat was taking longer than last time to decide.
"Ah... Back again are we? Yes... I remember you... It was Slytherin last time, wasn't it? But I see time has changed you, Summer. I don't believe Slytherin would help you reach your goals anymore, doesn't encompass you anymore. So where to put you now? So hard..." She sat there, frozen. No longer a Slytherin? What would her parents think? What was she supposed to do? She would be fine as long as she wasn't put in-
"Gryffindor!" The hat bellowed. Shit.
She watched Hayden's shocked face as she sulked over to the Gryffindor table, who clapped politely for her. She saw a different red-headed boy next to a student with black hair and glasses whoop loudly for her.
Hayden was -as expected- put in Slytherin, making her heart drop. So she was going to be alone in this betrayal of her family name, it felt like. He gave her a sympathetic look from across the hall, which helped lighten her mood a tiny bit.
The Triwizard Tournament was announced shortly after. Summer's head was spinning with thoughts and ideas, yet had no one to tell. Two students were being very vocal about their opinions however; the twins from before could be heard shouting obscene responses to the 'new rules'.
"You're joking!"
"That's rubbish!"
She rolled her eyes and continued listening to the ongoing information, until the newfound chatter had died down.

When the assembly was over, and the students started filing out of the hall, Summer didn't even realise that said twins had come up behind and were now walking in step with her.
"So." The one on the left started.
"So...?" She replied, slightly confused.
"How does it feel?"
"How does what feel?"
"Being the only person in all of history to have changed houses, not only that but a Slytherin to a Gryffindor?"
"You must have done some pretty deep soul searching while you were away," they chuckled and sped up, catching up to their friend walking a few paces ahead, leaving her feeling utterly bewildered.
