"Dre, what is it?" I enquire and gently close the  door behind me. Adrian looks worried and shows me the tablet he's holding. It contains a CCTV footage and surprisingly it's maped from few minutes ago. "Boss, does this man look familiar to you?" he patiently waits for my answer and on closer inspection, my eyes widen. This man is wearing a hood shirt and black jeans. His dressing is way too similar like the man who fled from the crime scene before we could apprehend him. 

Dre briefs me about the situation "He entered the hospital premise just a while ago as you can see from the time stamp. At first the nurse at the reception station didn't pay any attention but when he requested for Xiao Zhan's room number she got curious and asked him to wait. She was briefed prior hand of such situation that could occur. She used her intution and called one of our boys, that's when things got too bizarre. The moment he saw the cops, he ran away". 

"What?" I am absolutely baffled "did the nurse get a good look at this man?" and Dre shakes his head "Sadly no because his face was covered but don't worry, Sean's there right now investigating and enquiring the nurse and other staffs. We're also trying to track down any other footages we can get our hands on". 

"Boss" Drew and Jun join us and they look alert too. "I want you two to stand guard here and be very careful as to who enters this room. Even if it's a doctor or a nurse I don't give a damn, be their shadow and watch their every single move. If they say they want to give Mr. Xiao Zhan a sponge bath, I give a fuck to their protocol. Obey this order. You're not allowed to leave until either Dre or I am here" I command and they salute "Yes Boss" 

I know Xiao Zhan will be safe with my boys cause for me they'd give their lives. The feeling is very mutual. I trust each and every one of them. Dre and I join Sean at the main hall and he briefs us "As of now only two people have seen him though nothing concrete has been found. Don't worry Boss, we're here" and I nod. 

"Boss, do you think Mr. Xiao Zhan has any enemies?" Though I know what Sean's question meant but having known Xiao Zhan and his lifestyle, I really doubt if he'd have any enemies. 

"Sean, I'll ask Mr. Jiang Cheng and we'll try to find out the truth. In the meantime, let's try to investigate this matter too" Dre orders. "Yes, Vice" Sean bows and leaves us. 

"Wang, I think we need to enquire with Mr. Jiang Cheng. Agreed that Xiao Zhan is a hermit but it won't hurt our case to probe further cause" he pauses and his eyes are perceptive "if he has no external enemies, then it's grave to say that as of today, he has made a new one and that does not look too good for him. The similarities are way too striking and if the assailant has reached the hospital entrance, then either they're too bold or care for none."

I could only agree. 

We meet them at the cafeteria and I must say I never thought there would come a day when I would sit across the table with Jiang Cheng and have a cup of coffee. He looks visibly shaken and I am assuming that he is aware of the situation. Brother is also present and his eyes are filled with concern. 

"So you're confirming that Xiao Zhan has had no nemesis from before this incident?" Dre enquires and Jiang Cheng rubs the bridge of his nose and shakes his head "No, Zhan has always been a person who avoids controversies. He loves his life and that is to be away from people as much as possible. He has no nemesis none whatsoever". 

"Officer Wang, is Zhan in danger?" Jiang Cheng questions and I look at him calmly "Before I answer your question, you need to answer one of mine. How did Xiao Zhan know about the kidnapping and murder?" some thing in my tone must have irked Jiang Cheng cause at the next moment this entire stance is defensive. 

"What are you trying to insinuate Officer Wang? Your boys informed me that Zhan is not a suspect!" Jiang Cheng glares and I nod "True but that does not mean he is not involved. This is a Homicide investigation Mr. Jiang Cheng. Two children were kidnapped and one is still missing. I think it's a legitimate question. Agreed Mr. Xiao is not the prime suspect but he is involved and above all a civilian who was found wounded" my voice is stern and soon Jiang Cheng loses his fight and slumps against the chair. 

"Tell them" my brother coaxes softy and Jiang Cheng takes a sip of the coffee in front of him. "Officers what I am about to tell you is confidential. Please try and co-operate. The good universe is aware how much we have been co-operating" he take a deep breath and continues "Officers, do you remember about 5 months ago there was a tip given to the Narcotics Department against the infamous drug cartel Royace Mamba?" 

"Yes" Dre looks at me cautiously. I remember few weeks prior to that tip there was a bloodbath in their gang area and we were called to investigate the scene. 

"Then you would also be aware that about a year ago there was an anonymous tip against flesh trade racket that the Police were able to nab the culprits at the right time and place?". This is another incident that Dre and I remember. We were called under special enforcement as I was leading the team of snipers and sharp shooters.

"Yes, Mr. Jiang Cheng could you please get to the point" Dre looked even more pensive and finally, Jiang Cheng raised his gaze and asked "Do you believe in premonitions, officers?" 

What?

"Premonitions? As in visions? Predicting the future?" Dre looks baffled. 

"Yes" Jiang Cheng pauses trying to gauge our reactions "Xiao Zhan has premonitions. They're not regular nor are they of distant future. Whenever he gets any vision, it's always in the present or are about to take place. Normally whenever he has any sort of visions, until now it's always been in my presence and thus we could help the police but today unfortunately he had a vision after Huan left and I wasn't even present. This being the case he had to act as he knew there were two lives in danger. The two incidents which I just asked you about, it was Zhan who has been helping your departments. Ofcourse throughout the years most of the anonymous tips were from him, just this time his own life is in danger". 

"Believe him Wangji, Adrian. I can vouch for Xiao Zhan here" brother smiles sadly and I look outside the window by my side. I wonder why did it have to turn out to be this way? Why did our paths cross? Did I have to get involved again? Wasn't I contended by looking at that man from afar?

"Officer Wang, Huan informed me that you're his younger brother. I do not wish to force you into believing such traits but they're of utmost truth. Zhan has been through lot. Being a murderer is not one of them. Please belive him". Jiang Cheng pleads and it tugs my heart. 

The conversation is disturbed by my phone ringing. It's Sean. "Boss, we could confirm that the man who fled the crime scene and the man who came to the hospital are indeed the same person! The forensic got a footprint covered with blood outside the premise and we matched it with a partial footprint outside the hospital. The floor was muddy and the assailant wasn't aware. The number and the pattern on both prints are 99% match" he conveys and my heart falls. 

"Alright. Thank you" I disconnect the call and look at the occupants in front of me. 

Xiao Zhan sighs as we relay the entire incident to him "Wow, I have been sleeping peacefully whilst you all have been working so hard" he smiles "makes me feel guilty". 

"Zhan please" brother chides softly. 

"What do we do? How do we protect Zhan?" Jiang Cheng enquires as he faces the huge window covering the entire suite.

"Oh, I have an idea!" Dre grins and for some reason, it makes my heart beat faster "Boss, you should move in with Xiao Zhan!". 

Silence.
