Wang Yibo's POV:

"Oh, I have an idea!" Dre grins and for some reason, it makes my heart beat faster "Boss, you should move in with Xiao Zhan!"

Silence.

"I approve" that would be Jiang Cheng "Yes, Officer Wang should move in with you Zhan, that way I'll be assured that you're safe".

"I agree too" Brother gaze passes between Xiao Zhan and me "Adrian's idea is not bad" and Dre jumps in "See I told you it's a great idea" each of them start pitching in ideas whilst my gaze steadies on Xiao Zhan who looks perturbed.

"Quiet" I command and the room plunges into absolute silence "everyone out. I need to talk to Mr. Xiao Zhan. This is something we need to discuss" I stress "alone" and they concur.

Closing the door behind them I take a seat on the couch opposite to his bed. Raking my hair with my fingers I huff in distress.

Why isn't he saying something?

To fill the awkwardness I finally look into his eyes and speak up "You don't have to agree Mr. Xiao Zhan, I think we can come up with some plan eventually".

A moment later he finally speaks "How would you plan on doing that?" He's curious and no longer perturbed which is a good sign.

"I'll place two of my boys outside your house and at night I'd personally stand guard" I shrug. It's going to be so exhausting.

"That's going to be exhausting" he speaks my mind out "if" he pauses "if you were to move into my place... how would that work out?" He looks down at his lap and plays with a random thread.

What is he thinking?

"Well for one I would be there. Even if I am called in for duty there would be someone with you at all times. Please don't worry, you won't even realise their presence. Ofcourse at night I'll be there and as I said, you won't even know we're around. I'll set up security cameras in the foyer of your penthouse and other such blind spots. We'll be upgrading all the cameras around your building. Along with main security guard you'd also have private guards under disguise" I pause to gauge his reaction and then he nods "So you would be like a roommate?" He questions and I shrug "Yes, a roommate. Will that be alright?".

"I suppose so" it's when he looks into my eyes do I realise how much he has changed since we met. Back then he was a young boy but the person sitting in front of me is a shell of that boy. His eyes are soulless. They look vacant. He's not happy with this situation. It's stifling him "Officer Yibo, I am a very private person. Know one thing, in my personal space the only to enter my home are Doc and Jiang Cheng" he sighs "but I also cannot ignore the fact that I did drag myself into this and thus need to be responsible. So yes I agree to the plan" he looks away.

I try to placate the situation before I leave "I assure you Mr. Xiao Zhan that in no way will we cause any hindrance to you or your lifestyle" I try to smile and bring my hand out to shake but all he does is stare at it and the next moment he turns his face, lies on the bed and covers himself with the blanket.

Huh?

Shaking my head I leave him alone and walk out of the room. I find Sean standing guard and he salutes "Boss, Vice asked me to inform you that they're all in Dr. Wang Huan's office waiting for you".

"Mr. Xiao Zhan has agreed to our arrangements" I inform and Dre grins. Brother looks a little tensed and Jiang Cheng is relieved. "Thank you officer, I'll immediately arrange for the movers to be ready at your call when you decide to move" his phone rings and he looks at the screen "I am sorry but I need to take this call. Please let me know if there's anything else that we can do for you" he bows and leaves the room.

"Wangji" he looks at me and Dre "Adrian, could I have a moment with Wangji?". Dre smiles "Sure brother Huan, Boss will meet you back at your place tonight" he grins and leaves.

"Wangji, I know this must be beyond your comfort zone but" he sighs "thank you. I am relieved that Zhan is under your protection. I am sure he'd be..." he pauses and shakes his head "it won't be easy" he completes.

"What won't be easy?" I question my brother.

"Being with him in the same house. It won't be easy for both of you especially for him" his eyes convey the depth of his seriousness.

My phone rings and it's the captain "I need to leave. I'll talk to you after the move" I am about to leave when he stops me "Wangji, I need to warn you and it's of utmost importance" he looks worried and I frown as he says "Don't ever touch Zhan".

What?

"That's something you need to remember. No matter what happens never touch him" my brother stresses on the 'never' and I nod before we leave.
As I drive towards the precinct, my brother's warning lingers at the back of my mind and now I realise why when I brought my hand forward to shake Xiao Zhan's hand did he not take it.

'Don't ever touch him'

Come to think of it no one touched him from the moment he woke up. I knew he was a hermit but this was something I was totally unaware about.

Xiao Zhan you intrigue me.

Xiao Zhan's POV:

It's finally good to be back home. It's been two days since I have been away. I look around and observe the changes that have already been made. New cameras have been set sup. Near the main foyer of the penthouse, there is a security room at the end corner which is up and running. A young officer in his early Twenties greets me with a warm smile "Mr. Xiao, I am Officer Lee Jun. I'll be here today."

"Nice to meet you. If you need anything please let me know" my smile is stiff. I don't think I will ever be used to having people at my place "Mrs. James, my housekeeper would be coming by this evening. If you or your team has any preference towards food please let her know" he nods and before I leave I hesitate to ask "Is... has Offcer Yibo moved in?"

"Yes Mr. Xiao, Boss moved in last evening" I nod and with a bow he gets back to his work and I leave.

Dialing JC's number he picks up the phone "Zhan?"

"Yes sweetheart, it's your boy love! Where are you? Why am I not been welcomed princess style?" I tease and he groans "Zhan!"

I laugh at his exasperation "Alright, alright I won't tease you. Which room has Officer Yibo occupied?" I look around the house.

"I escorted him to the guest bedroom next to your Master Bedroom" he informs me "though I was surprised to see he didn't bring much. Just a duffel bag which I am assuming contains his entire essentials for his stay".

Hmmm.

"Alright I'll see you tonight!" He sounds relived and disconnects the call.

Shaking my head I walk into my bedroom all the while eyeing the closed door of the guest bedroom. Having someone share my space never thought would be possible.

A warm bath. That's what I need now.

A knock on my office door and I look up from my laptop to find a stark light eyes looking back at me.

"Can I come in?" He enquires and I smile. Gesturing him in he walks towards the wall to ceiling window behind me. His eyes sparkle under the dim twinkling lights of the city "pretty" he whispers more to himself.

Shaking his head he turns to look at me "Thought I'll check in on you" he tucks his both palms into his front pockets "How are you feeling?"

I smile inwardly. He isn't good at small talks.

"Much better. I have been taking my medicines." I look at the clock on the wall and gasp. I didn't realise it was this late into the evening "did you just come back from work?"

"Yeah" he looks back at the twinkling city "Mr. Xiao Zhan" he starts and I intercept "Zhan. Friends call me Zhan." at that his eyes widen.

Yeah I felt bad for earlier. He brought his hand forward to shake and I... Oh well.

"Officer Yibo, I think if you're going to be my roommate then we need to be friends and I would appreciate if you don't use too much formalities with me. So call me Zhan" I grin and he gives me a small smile "Alright, Zhan then you can call me Yibo".

"Friends?" I look at him and he nods "Friends".

"Boy I feel we've entered the stage of kindergarten" I laugh and he looks back at the twinkling city below.

Interesting.

It sure is going to be a challenge for me but nonetheless it's going to be so different having someone to share this home with.

Let's see how long this is going to last.
