♥️Chapter XXVIII♥️
Raina Riele had spent so much time doing what she wasn't supposed to be doing that she had completely forgotten why she was really upstairs.
To get the topaz tiara.
It had seemed as though after she had finished talking to Brianni and Riki Yvette over what she wanted to ask them... it was like being upstairs was for no reason.
"I've always... I've always kind of struggled with that, hurting people around me unintentionally and then some."
"Trust me, we have too, especially how we're living on welfare benefits," Riki Yvette had explained kindly to Raina Riele.
"But you've seriously got to remember that some people out there literally have nothing. And that the grass isn't always greener. If you don't appreciate what you have, it would surely be taken away from you. You don't want that to happen, do you?"
She had kept on thinking about her conversation with Riki Yvette... aka short but meaningful.
She would rather have had that conversation with someone than a long and meaningless one.
Raina Riele had always been struggling with appreciating what she had... not just with people but with things as well.
Riki Yvette had even suggested trying therapy like she had done if her being unappreciative of what she had had gotten really extreme or severe.
That was until Kasey had called her and Raina had suddenly had an epiphany as to why she was really here.
Raina Riele.
Kasey! She had freaked out, almost dropping her phone because Kasey calling her was kind of unexpected. What's up?
It actually wasn't unexpected, since they were all working together, but for a pretty absent minded girl like Raina... then yes.
It was.
Leilani and I couldn't find the topaz tiara and we searched the whole of downstairs... twice. What about you? How are things going on with you?
She really wanted to lie but she didn't.
Not as in finding the topaz tiara.
As in... not even trying to find the topaz tiara.
She had just told Kasey that she had been talking to a stranger that she was never going to meet again this whole time.
You had one job Raina Riele!
That was actually coming from Leilani though- not Kasey.
They were sharing Kasey's phone as they had met each other downstairs.
I know, I'm sorry. But I'll try looking for it upstairs for you guys.... and hopefully we'll find it.
They didn't need hope.
They needed Jesus Christ.
Okay, let me and/or Kasey know the results after.
Got that.
The phone conversation had then ended for some time as Raina Riele had tried looking for the topaz tiara.
Thirty minutes later, even after searching all of upstairs of the shop twice like Kasey and Leilani had done with downstairs...
Raina Riele couldn't find it.
Any luck? Leilani wanted to know.
No, sorry you guys. I was just about to ask someone for it, then I remembered what one of you had said. Kasey I think.
That's fine. Let's go to plan B- the auction.
There was also an auction for valuable items where the topaz tiara was going to be sold, they could have gone there as well if everything had really failed.
At some point, they could have additionally asked people if they knew where Francesco had lived.
Which they were going to do before the auction actually.
Raina Riele was just about to agree with that plan, that was until she had seen something, aka a secret door that wasn't upstairs and wasn't downstairs either.
It was like in the middle of the stairs.
It was also transparent.
Wait you guys, I think I see something.
What? Both of them had questioned her simultaneously.
Okay. You two meet me in the middle of the stairs, Raina Riele had commanded. There's this transparent door with jewellery inside and-
She gasped.
It has the topaz tiara in it! I'm not even joking!
This was probably way too good to be true.
It wasn't though. It was actually real.
Kasey wanted to know if she was being serious and she was, they just had to be very clandestine about it really.
All of their looking had paid off after all.
As Raina Riele had wanted both of the boys to do, they had met her in between the middle of the stairs where there was a door.
"Oh wow. It really is a door. I thought it was just an escalator or something that you saw wrong." Kasey commented when him and Leilani had arrived on the middle of the stairs concurrently.
"How can an escalator have the tiara?"
Kasey shrugged.
It was just a hunch. He didn't say it was true.
A relatively stupid hunch, yes. But a hunch regardless.
Raina Riele had pointed to the topaz tiara, with Leilani trying to get inside.
He had accidentally banged his head, completely forgetting that this door was transparent with a glass door.
Kasey and Raina Riele had to stifle their laughter as they have helped Leilani.
"How are we going to get inside?" From Leilani.
"I mean if all else fails. We could just ask security..."
"You're crazy if you're thinking that," Kasey had deadpanned. "We're supposed to be as surreptitious as possible. Not the opposite. Don't y'all watch spy movies or TV shows or something?"
If they did, they didn't show it.
This place must have been completely off limits or something because nobody else had seemed to be inside of it. It was far away from the stairs itself.
But it was in the middle of the stairs.
Leilani and Raina Riele had just looked blankly at one another when they had heard that, then Raina had an idea.
She had a bobby pin in her hair which she had taken out, trying to open the door with it.
Some people had done that on TV, with Raina Riele watching them as they had done that, and now she wanted to try the same thing.
To see if it would have worked out.
And it did....
Not work.
Unsurprisingly.
It actually would have though had they not been caught by security halfway.
CCTV cameras were surrounding them as well, so they were really done for at this point in time.
Kasey had somehow managed to switch off the CCTV cameras near them though, after watching a lot of movies and TV shows where characters had done that - not that that had solved their problems because it didn't.
In fact they were only getting started instead.
