Chapter 15: Gone with Little Warning
We where all ready to go by the end of the week. I switched back to my backpack. John didn't complain to much because he didn't really like my backpack anyways and Alex somehow manged to pack his bag and sneak it in my room without anybody else noticing. Sylas said he had all he needed, but he didn't pack a bag. He said all he really needed besides food can fit in his pocket or up his hoody sleeves.
“So when are we leaving?” Alex asked as the three of us walked down the street.
“Tonight.” Sylas said. “Look we just find a way to tell them we're gone without them trying to stop us or case after us to tag along.”
“Yeah I could just tell Joey to tell them tomorrow. He's not really one to pressure people or ask many questions.” Alex said.
“That could work, but how would we separate him from the group?” I asked.
“You guys distract the rest and I'll whisper it in his ear or slip him a note and tell him not to open it till later.” Alex suggested.
“Or we could just leave a note in Jordan's room tonight. They won't see it until tomorrow at least.” Sylas suggested.
“Yeah I like that plan better.” I said.
“Agreed.” Alex said.
We returned to the hangout to see everybody still asleep so we decided to quickly move the bags to the air vent on the roof where I hid my bow that one time.
“We could just leave now.” Alex suggested before I put the grate back over the vent. “They're still sleeping.”
“We would have more time to get away. They'll probably think we're just messing around town when they wake up.” Sylas said.
“True.” I said looking at the forest that concealed the wall containing my old home. “Where are we going again?”
“The city where HQ is.” Sylas said.
“You mean we're going to HQ?” Alex asked.
“Maybe. I said the city where it is.” Sylas said.
“Yeah true.” Alex said. “So are we leaving now.”
“Yeah. Let's go.” I said.
An hour later we found ourselves walking through the city and away from the hangout. Once we reached the edge of the city Sylas turned towards us.
“You sure?” He asked us. I gave a quick nod.
“Yeah. Let's do it.” Alex said. Confidence and wounder on his face.
