[ORIGINAL CHAPTER]

Today was my first day at work at the local hospital. In Forks I had wanted to be a doctor since I was a small child my parents would often catch me bandaging mine and bella's teddy bears pretending they were patients which they thought was sweet however even at that age I thought it was the beginning of my training. After 7 years at medical school I had graduated at the top of my class which made my parents proud. And now I would finally be starting this year as a resident doctor.

I had woken up early mainly due to the fact that body clock hadn't adjusted itself yet to the change in time so since I was already awake I got changed and decided to go for a jog around Forks the light had just started to make its way through the fog in the sky which often covered it like shield. Even though I hadn't been in Forks for such a long time as I made my way around it felt as if I had never left after running through the dark, wet and mysterious forest I found myself at a cliff edge so i began to step forward each step causing a wet sound under my feet from the rain which it rained often here. As I reached the cliff edge I looked across as I did my heart finally began to feel at ease for the first time in a long time and the thought came across my mind maybe this is the place I'm meant to be.

For a moment I took a deep breathe before closing my eyes as I did my body relaxed and memories began to fill my mind of when I was a child chasing a younger Bella across the beach the wind in our faces causing our hair to be flown around like a leaf in autumn as our parents watched happily in the background this was the last happy memory I had before my life began to fall apart, my parents separated and myself and Bella ended up in Phoenix with our aunt and uncle which I hated my mother for everyday.

I smiled as the memory filled my mind for a while before I opened my eyes taking one last look around me before heading back into town and to my fathers house trying to sneak back into the house quietly so that I didn't wake up Bella and my father arriving back I realised how cold it was outside I hadn't realised before as I often liked the cold and would spend most of my time at the beach while it was raining feeling each rain drop on my head made me feel more alive. Eventually after my shower I headed back downstairs and began to open each one of my bags trying to find an outfit that was both smart but causal I wanted to look perfect on my first day and make a good impression because as my mother would always say first impressions count.

After a while of searching and throwing every item of clothing I owned on the floor I finally managed to find the perfect outfit so I got changed before putting my long wavy hair into a tight ponytail I smiled saying to myself "you've finally done it today is your first day" I said to myself before chuckling. Before heading into the kitchen to make breakfast for everyone trying to be quite however as I stood there I heard footsteps approach from behind me. "Umm pancakes," Charlie says as he begins to pour himself a cup of black coffee before taking a sip. " Bella still asleep," I asked but there was a moment of silence so I went back to cooking my pancakes to make the situation less awkward.

After a while of silence I heard Charlie speak
"you still need a lift into work," Charlie said which made me turn from look at him to see him leant against one of the kitchen cabinets with a cup of coffee in one hand and a smile on his face which made me smile it reminded me of my childhood Mom making pancakes, Bella still asleep and me waiting patiently at the table "what's got you smiling?" Charlie said with a chuckle "nothing" I said still smiling "yeah Thankyou" I said replying to his earlier question. "Morning" I said as I saw Bella walk into the room in the corner of my eye "hey" Bella said as she sat down at the table "pancakes?" I asked holding up the pan to show her "yeah thanks" Bella said with a grin.

"what's so funny," I asked as I turn to face her and smile "I'm just surprised your up so early," Bella says as I begin to take the pancakes out of the pan and place them onto each plate before we all sit down at the table in front plates before Charlie begins to cover his in syrup Charlie looks at me before he speaks "have you spoken to your mother yet," Charlie asked as he begins to cut up his pancakes "no I don't want to bother her she's probably super busy with Phil," I say as Bella passes me the syrup. While we sat eating breakfast it was so silent you could hear the pancake being cut up after breakfast everyone went there separate ways to get ready for the day ahead.

I began to get impatient waiting at the bottom of the stairs checking my watch every 30 seconds and looking up the stairs waiting for my father to come down "Dad hurry up I'm going to be late" I shouted as loud as I could trying to not get annoyed with him, but I wanted to be on time maybe even early being late was another thing on the list that could make everyone have a bad impression of me "I'm coming" Charlie said hurrying down the stairs wearing no shoes and buttoning his shirt "maybe you should think about getting your own car" Charlie said with a chuckle which just made me raise my eyebrows at him "ok we're leaving" Charlie says running over to get his shoes before we leave through the door.

On the journey there I stared through the window of my dads squad care as the music played in the background staring at everything around me taking in everything which seemed to calm me. As my dad pulled up to the hospital I grabbed my bag before opening the door and jumping out before my dad even had chance to park the car "Bye then" Charlie said sarcastically in the distance as i began to run inside waving my hand behind me. As I ran through the doors I began to make my way around trying to find the nurses desk as I had been told on an email to go there. I ran around as fast as I could my hair hitting me in the face as I did covering up my vision as I ran I felt as if I had I ran into someone as I moved my hair I saw a clipboard amongst other things on the floor "I'm so sorry," I said feeling guilty as I began to pick everything up "no harm done" a male doctor said after picking I passed them to him that's when I noticed him.

He was the one my father had told me about a tall doctor, light blonde hair, yellow eyes and pale white. He was doctor Cullen whenever my father spoke of doctor Cullen he got angry not at him but rather with how the locals treated him because his family were different and often kept to themselves, he was also the adoptive father of Bella's boyfriend Edward. "I have to go but it was nice meeting you" Dr Cullen said as he began to walk away he walked for a few seconds before turning his head around to look at me and for a split second we smiled at each other before he left. Afterwards I grabbed my scrubs, lab coat and badge before getting changed and finding my attending after working various departments through out the day we ended up in the ER and there he was again.

I turn around but I could see him in the corner of my eye put down his board as patients were trying to talk to him he looked at me then started to come over I quickly turned around and started talking to my patient. But then I heard a voice behind me.

"Hello" I heard the voice say I turned around our faces were so close my heart was beating so fast I thought it would fall out of my chest He put his hand out "hello," I say stuttering once more before I shake his hand was cold too like Edwards "I'm Dr Cullen," He said with a smile on his face with made my heart flutter. "know who you are," I say thinking in my head Caroline stop being embarrassing you sound like a stalker.

"I'm," I say before he interrupts me "I know who you are," he says with a smirk on his face "Your Caroline Swan the new Resident and the daughter of police chief Swan," he says looking happy with himself. I knew had to say something smart back at him "you've done your research," I say starting to change my tone "or you just sound like a stalker, "I say trying to be serious but wanting to laugh and he begins to chuckle.
