Chapter 1 - Medical School
[ORIGINAL CHAPTER]
Hello, My name is Caroline Elizabeth Swan, and I am a medical student in my final year at a medical school in England because it was the best in the nation. It was far from my home because I was born and raised in Forks but moved to Phoenix with my mother and younger sister Bella when I was a teenager.
I had just finished my day of medical school, so I took a cab to my boyfriend Callum's apartment. We had met there because he was pursuing a nursing degree, and I had just finished medical school. When the cab arrived, I took my bag from the seat next to me, paid the driver, opened the door, and got out. As the cab drove away, I started to head inside but noticed that the lift was broken, so I started to climb the stairs instead. It was a long way up before I reached his apartment.
He had given me a key to his apartment, so as soon as I got to the door, I started to call him a few times, but they all went to voicemail. I then took my keys out of my bag and unlocked the door; as I looked around, I noticed that it was dark and quiet everywhere but the bedroom. I shouted "Cal, Cal," but I got no response, so I went to the bedroom in the hopes that he had fallen asleep with the light on. When I opened the door, door opened he jumped covering himself up as he did I saw my bestfriend Mollie.
She was in my class when we first met, and the two of them quickly grew to be my family. When I caught sight of them together, I felt empty and betrayed, so I quickly turned around and left the room. As angry tears started to gather in my eyes, I didn't even know what to do. Cal yelled after me as he leaped out of the bed and ran out of the room, "Caroline, wait!" Cal shouted after me as he jumped out of the bed and came running out of the room.
I glanced inside the room as he ran out, and Molly was getting dressed with a sorry expression on her face. However, she was aware of what she was doing, which increased my rage toward both of them as I prepared to leave. Callum grabbed my arm and drew me toward him, but I pushed him away and yelled, "Stay out of my life!" before slamming the door behind me and running through it.
I yelled for a little period when I got outside because I was getting angrier and hurter, and then I started to sprint down the stairs as quickly as I could because I needed to get out of the building and as far away from the two of them as possible right away. Even though it was a long way home, I immediately started walking as soon as I got outside since I was feeling so depleted. I entered my flat and opened the door before dropping out on to the living room floor.
And I sat there for a while sobbing because I was heartbroken because I honestly thought Callum was the love of my life, but it was obvious that I had been mistaken and that I had only been used as a pawn to help him gain my best friend. I decided not to let myself be duped again, so as I sat down on the floor, I noticed the picture of my father, my younger sister, and I on the tv stand. I reached over and grabbed the picture, then I sat there gazing at it and grinning briefly.
Bella and I used to spend at least one week in Forks with my father each year after moving to Phoenix with my mother, but it had been years because I missed him so much. The thought of returning to Forks came to me as I was sitting there looking at the picture because of its tiny size and sparse population as well as the knowledge that everyone would learn what had transpired, making the predicament even more difficult.
Since today was the day we learned our final exam results, I made the decision to stay until I had finished medical school, keeping to myself and avoiding everyone. In advance, I had packed up my apartment, booked my flights, and reserved a transport van. The findings were the most crucial thing at this point because I couldn't move my residency to another hospital without passing the intern test, so I sat there on the floor with my laptop on my knee as I waited for the email with the results to arrive.
When I heard a ping, I immediately opened my emails to look at the results. I was shocked to see that I had gotten a perfect score because, given how distracted I had been lately, especially during the exam, I hadn't even expected to pass. Which gave me a grin before I shut down my computer and started getting ready before the moving truck showed up since, whether I passed or not, I was still leaving England.
It made me sad to leave because, in addition to the painful memories I was leaving behind, this place also held some of my favourite memories. As everything was being loaded into the truck, I grabbed my suitcase and backpack before getting into the cab and travelling to the airport. As soon as we get there, I exit the car before the driver, who then goes to the boot and retrieves my luggage while I pay him, head inside to check in and proceed through the airport.
I had time to spare until it was time to board my plane so I grabbed my ticket and food and sat down on a bench my case next to me and grabbed my phone from my pocket and messaged my sister for something to do as I'm waiting to go inside the airport. "Hey, Bell How's Forks mum told me about your boyfriend" I text my sister as I two my feet against the floor as I wait for a reply. "Good lots of school work" she replied I had a feeling she was trying to change the subject.
My mother couldn't keep a secret and I knew I was going to find out soon enough about her boyfriend. "Lots of Edward work do you mean" I typed back to herself as I laughed at the message I had just sent. "I have to go to school speak soon xx" Replied before I pressed the button on the side of my phone and placed it back in my pocket.
Before I quickly grabbed my case and headed inside the airport it wasn't a long journey to Forked by plane and quickly stood up and began to head inside and went through the typical procedures of an airport and sat down watching Tv on my phone until it was time to head to the plane I wasn't a big fan of ques they gave me bad anxiety.
