Chapter 33

A building power slowly started spreading, the violence of doom in it stronger than any poison. Joon was numb to the plight of the world as he let his power flow, his arms sheltering the cold dead body of his love.

Right after her heart had stopped, a burst of light rushed out of her body, hovering over his choking and sobbing form.

For just a few seconds, that light had descended over him, surrounding him with a gentle yet strong love. A warmth that would have been able to thaw him for a bit.

But that light had then abruptly been sucked away, leaving him in the darkness again.

Leaving him, alone.

His soul was cleansed. She, was claimed by death.

Joon had no thoughts in his mind, but his darkness pushed him to an unconscious one.

What right did the others have in breathing the air when she no longer could? What right did any human have of being alive, when she was not?

The slashing aura of his biting, brutal power restlessly kept building, resulting in every single glass of the house in shattering.

The first one he would mercilessly kill would be Mira. Then her brother.

The reason that Anya had been adamant about this path was because she had sensed what he had deeply wanted to remain hidden. His secret desire that he had been struggling to control.

Even before he had died the thought had come often to him, making him stay awake at nights. The thought that had resulted in many episodes of violent rage, of him smashing anything he could find. The wish that he wanted to come true.

For more than nine years, he had wanted Mira, So Hyun and Soyeon to die.

If they were gone, Anya would only have been his. He loathed, he absolutely despised having to share her with them. Hated it.

Many times he would wonder if paying the mob for their deaths would result in a future where Anya would not find out about the part he had in it, but every time he had hesitated.

They had always made her happy.

If they died, maybe it would put a cast of sadness that would not leave for a long time.

The energy of his power cackled. It was almost ready to be unleashed on this world.

Yet, when the power was about to peak, a jolt of dark energy crashed into him, pushing him off the bed. That energy got absorbed quickly in his body, coursing through him in a familiar way, boiling him from within. Twisting and coursing, it lifted his form up and broke him apart, the consequences so fast, that Joon could not even have a moment to scream.

Innumerable hot needles seemed to pierce his mind, releasing threads of memories which had remained locked.

He barely got any time to understand them, when the power he had let out to build and spread, came crashing into him, soaking his soul which was already filled with the dark energy.

Together, they churned in a cacophony of demonic voices until Joon felt he would go mad from the noise. Just when he thought he would no longer be able to take it anymore, his body. . . transformed.

For a few minutes, Joon went through hellish pain as his real power, real identity and his memories released itself from its restrictions before settling down in him.

Then, his form dropped down.

Dazed, he sat on the floor for some time.

"You were one big disaster."

A voice made Joon glance up, even though he had sensed his presence. The entity who had struck him with the dark energy. The one who had transformed him.

"You were always the extreme. Either the darkest of us or the most reliable. Pity. Your one chance was wasted in showing exactly what the Order feared. Exactly what the Elders wanted."

Ignoring him, Namjoon looked at the shell of body cast aside by the Princess for her human birth. He went towards it, picking up the body that looked at lot like her real form.

"The Elders," Joon's voice became deeper as he quietly asked, "Did they consider this birth as an excuse to retract their granted test?"

Silence came from the other presence until Joon looked at him.

"Don't you think they should?" he coldly asked.

Joon clutched the discarded shell as he replied quietly, "I indulged recklessly."

The silence was again sarcastic as well as furious.

After some time, the reply came, "She saved you from going too far. Your chance failed. But it was not reversed."

A sense of relief made Joon breath deeply. Then he said, "And you saved me from what I was about to do. Thank you."

"It was not me. He helped make the window for me to appear after her presence was gone. He had previously guided her too."

Joon just nodded, knowing who the person would be who dared to help indirectly.

The Dark Twin.

Then he realized something. He jerked up and took a couple of steps towards the other presence when he coldly laughed.

"Did you finally realize that I will suffer the consequence of interfering?"

"What will happen?"

A heavy pause blocked the answer. The other entity remained still, "My chance with her will be destined as failed. I will not be successful in my birth."

Shock and shame surged through Joon, yet he kept an unperturbed voice, "Then, will you take the chance?"

"I will get to be with her for some time. Not knowing what the Order will do in the future, do you think I am a fool to not spend it with her?" then he added, "If it is already deemed as failed, then I can change the ending. It wont matter anyway."

"It will be painful." Joon reminded.

The presence laughed, "I'll take that. Gladly."

Humbled by what he learned, Joon bowed his head, "Thank You."

Acknowledging him, the presence said again, "Your memories of this life cannot be recalled in your future birth. If that happens, this self of yours will overpower your future self. And this self is. . . an extreme that will destroy every effort we make."

Turning to leave, he said, "I trust you will take care of her shell?"

Joon felt a stinging pain of loss when he saw the likeness he held, but did not feel the severe, abnormal attachment he had. After all, her shell was merely that. A shell. Her real form, her real personality was much more beautiful than this.

"I will." he confirmed, "Thank You again, Yoongi."

"Leave quickly, You will suffer more damage if you stay past your time. Do not linger at all."

The presence vanished, leaving Namjoon alone in the house his human self had died.

Being the way he was, Joon left her body together with his in the place it had been hidden.

For a minute he stood and surveyed the room. It was but a blip of time, he spent in this human world, but still, it felt the most precious.

It had affected him enough that he stopped, when by his nature, he should not have. Joon smiled as he recalled the subconscious feeling of sensing Yoongi.

Even in that state, he had been unconsciously delaying  having his power burst, because he knew he would be stopped.

If. . . Yoongi had not come. . .

He would have released it, but the radius would have been small.

Afterall, she had scarred him badly.

Loss.

It was a pain he knew only too well. A pain he constantly fought against. A pain, he feared was looming in his future which he wanted at all costs to avoid.

The loss he suffered in this birth could not be repeated in reality. He wouldn't let it be repeated.

He could do nothing for the life that was ruined, but he needed to guard his future.

Seal this persona of his? Yes. He needed to. This was truly harmful.

Till the last second, he himself did not know that if he had not sensed Yoongi's presence, how many more would he have killed.

Maybe a few. . .
Maybe more. . .

Maybe. . . None.

His power throbbed seductively as he controlled himself, starting on doing what was necessary.

This life's Monster, indeed could never be let out. Even if that Monster, only wanted to love her.

Without her light, it would only sway towards an abyss which could never let her live.

The house remained standing just as it was, with the full moon being the only witness of what had transpired in its entirety.
