EVENING :
THE BEACH HOUSE :
"Are you insane??? This is downright weird!!" Soyeon laughed loudly as she drank a little more of her beer, "I am not that sad because Joon is here with us!! Sooooooooo nice right? Like death is not hitting me that much!"
So Hyun steadied her and made her sit down, his eyes soft. "This is why I can never say anything against him." he murmured. Because for Soyeon, he would have done the same. Humans were selfish enough to not want to part from the people who they worshipped more than god.
If given a choice at deathbed, he wasn't sure if he would choose to quietly go away and wish her happiness with someone else when there could be a way he could still stay with her.
The dead haunting the living. For love.
But, this was precisely why it was wrong.
Everything had a limit in this world, including life. Learning to let go was one of the most brutal lesson life taught, but it was the right decision. The black and white right.
Dead, were not supposed to attach to the living.
So Hyun looked over at Anya sitting on her recliner with a drink in her hand, looking up at the moon. With her hair loose and carefree, her smile lit up her beauty which shone dimly even in the cover of the dark night.
That beauty, came from the will to live.
And the reason, was because her Love, was still with her.
Otherwise, knowing her, So Hyun wasn't sure if she could survive. That beautiful girl, would have become a living corpse. Breathing because it was required to.
Then was it really bad?
Why was there never a clear answer? Why could there never be something resolute? If a vicious devil was supposed to only cause death, then why was it the reason of someone's survival?
A tap on his shoulder brought him out of his musings.
"We agreed to not think of anything tonight Brother." Mira passed on a bowl of snacks, "So don't. tonight, lets just enjoy the gentle breeze, the starlight brightened by the cool beauty of the moon reflecting on the waves that become visible from its existence."
So Hyun sighed. She was drunk. Only then would she sprout out poetry. And pathetic ones at that.
But true.
Tonight, the four of them would only enjoy each other's company on this beach. They needed sometime after all.
Unknown to the four friends, the house behind them, lost its chill, the normal temperature of the outside normalizing with its inside.

KANG COUNTRY HOUSE :
Kang Ryong, Jong Gi, Yun Hong Yi and Cho Ji Oh sat around a low table in a stylishly furbished room, sipping wine while select servants busily made themselves useful.
Kneeling on the ground was Oh Na Rae, Joon's nanny, Sung Ki, her husband who used to be Joon's father's butler, and their son Yoon Soo.
"I am surprised it took so long for you to revisit this subject. If I had not been busy in the prosecutors office I would have suggested you investigate it better." Ji Oh swirled her wine as she spoke, "When he started making those moves, you should have thought about her being a mole."
"NO!" Na Rae ardently spoke from where she was kneeling, "I swear to you! I really had given the exact amount of drug you had instructed me to! I even had the security cleaned up and take a break during that period! I swear to you! My son meant more to me than Young Master!"
"There it is." Ji Oh smirked, "Still calling him Young Master? Aish. After all, a loyal dog will still want to go lick its master's feet."
"Ji Oh give it a rest." Hong Yi slammed his wine glass down, "I really loathe people like you."
"Like me?" Ji Oh taunted, "You mean the successful without begging others for power kind?"
Hong Yi kept a firm check on his temper, "The kind who wants to shrug off a problem by coming up with the easiest solution and making it to be the cause and not investigating the real problem! You, woman, excel at that!"
Ji Oh laughed, "Right, you of course belong to the group that overlooks common sense to jump at the hazards that make no sense at all. Tell me," She leaned forward and put up an interested face, "If these mutts are not at fault, then how is Namjoon still alive? The drug still had strychnine in it. The effect would have started within an hour, there was no way he could be alive if he ingested it."
That sentence brought Jong Gi to his senses. He looked over at his father to see his face completely ashen.
"Stryc-stychnine?" Jong Gi stuttered.
Rolling her eyes, Ji Oh responded, "The plan was to hide and store his body for a year and tell that he had taken a vacation abroad for an year with key personnel keeping up the ruse. You needed an year of his absence to get the company from within. Then there was supposed to be a fire where we would toss his remains and have the DNA being identified as his, without explaining the lack of muscles.
Of course, the only poison that is deadly lethal yet undetectable from the bone so far is strychnine."
Hong Yi sat back, "But strychnine? It's a spinal poison. The death, it would have been horrific. Beyond horrific." He shook his head in disbelief, "Even if you wanted him to be killed-"
"Oh don't go all Boddhisatva on me now." Ji Oh mocked, "You all tasked me to acquire and mix the poison. The only thing you did not know was which poison it was. What is with this level of outrage? Taking hypocrisy to a new extreme."
"Why though?"
Ji Oh examined her beautifully manicured painted nails, "Because. . . That brat rejected me. And he was quite insulting about it. I did not take that well."
Jong Gi ignored the exchange, concentrating on the main subject. His father was unresponsive with the realization which was slowly starting to affect him from within his heart, "Are you sure you gave the right dose of strychnine?" he asked urgently.
Ji Oh looked at him with disdain, "You need to ask?"
Whirring on Joon's nanny, Jong Gi grabbed the old woman with both his hands on her shoulders. Violently he shook her, "You made sure to give him the whisky? You were standing there and saw him drink it?"
Before the woman could answer, Jong Gi stood up and aimed a powerful kick on Yoon Soo, who keeled over in pain. Clutching the boys head with a fistful of hair, Jong Gi brought him to stand and threatened his mother, "Answer truthfully or your good-for-nothing of a son will die tonight!"
Sung Ki cried out from where he was kneeling, "NO! NO SIR PLEASE SPARE MY SON!" he crawled forward and knelt down in front of Jong Gi, "I HATED NAMJOON. I KNOW, THAT HE WAS THE ONE WHO KILLED MY MASTER. A boy who would murder his own father is a wicked person that I personally wanted to punish. I was there with my wife. Sir! Please trust me! We mixed the drug you gave us and made sure he drank it!"
Jong Gi lost his grip of the couple's son, backing away with unfocused eyes.
He knew of the Butler's hatred, of course he knew. Afterall, he had been the one who had nurtured it. He had been the one who had exploited it to turn the Butler's wife into being an accomplice. That night, he knew that they had indeed done their job.
Because if they hadn't, Namjoon would not have been unconscious for them to take him away from this very house.
Previously, he had thought, that the poison to be used must have been of a low dose. A poison that he could have gotten an antidote of after escaping. But if it was strychnine, given the time frame, there was no way that Namjoon could have survived.
"Pathetic." Ji Oh sipped her wine, "It took you a whole year to understand that these mutts had not given him the drug."
"Then why are you so calm?" Hong Yi asked, "Shouldn't you have been more active for the past year? Are you not afraid Joon will come for you?"
Ji Oh laughed, "Why would I be afraid? The way I procured it, left no trace whatsoever of me being involved in any of the activities. Added to that, I have enough materials about the Kang Family which if goes public will cause a social outcry of them being arrested and sentenced to death." Lounging back she smiled, "Which means it would be smart of you to not say anything about my involvement here. I came today just to let you know that."
Hong Yi made an ugly face, "You think its so easy to get away with this??"
"Why not? I am not you, who since the start was the source of his pain. His mother died because of you. You were the one who influenced his father to have that silly girl be married off to someone else, also attempting many a times to make her a pawn by getting her disgraced. How many times did you attempt to stage that? Did you not know his mad obsession for her? You were the fool who thought that was his weakness.
I stayed away from all that shit. Of course I am carefree." She stood up, "Besides, what is all this fuss about? He is not dead! Any evidence he could use against any of us has long been destroyed. What are you pansies so afraid of?"
She walked away from the room while kicking the kneeling woman, "Just take care of these mutts though."
Not looking at the state Kang Ryong or his son was in, Ji Oh casually reached the door and pulled at it to leave.
Scowling when her attempt failed, she looked with anger at the servants, who rushed to open the door for her.
"Are you trying to play a joke ON ME?" she gritted out when the servants panicked, not being able to open it.
Ji Oh stalked back in the seating room just in time to see Jong Gi pick up the phone.
"Who is it?" Kang Ryong spoke for the first time.
Ji Oh made an ugly face, about to yell when she heard Jong Gi say, "Its from the hospital Jae Hoon is admitted to. He has become violent suddenly and refusing to cooperate until he talks to me. They are connecting the call to him."
"What kind of a trick do you think you are playing on me?" Jo Oh cut in. Impatiently tapping the toe of her heels on the floor, she scoffed, "You are below the level of even local goons if you think you can hold me hostage by this extremely stupid method!"
"Quit your yapping!" Hong Yi, still smarting from her showing him the mirror of his deeds, said with an irritate face, "Who is trying to take you hostage???"
Ji oh gave a sarcastic laugh, "Really? Then why are you not letting me leave??"
Jong Gi, who was still waiting for Jae Hoon to be connected, frowned, "Why would I not let you leave?"
"Then open the damn doors!!"
Looking at the cluster of servants, Jong Gi raised his voice, "Why are you not assisting?"
The servants, bowed their heads, but a few peeked behind them looking at their colleagues still trying their mightiest to get the door to budge. Hesitating a little, one of them had the courage to speak up, "Sir. . . actually. . . the door . . . . won't open."
Puzzled at the shared information, Jong Gi wanted to ask for clarification when Jae Hoon's mad laughter came through the phone.
The sound was loud, spilling over the phone, being clearly heard by Ji Oh, Hong Yi, Jong Gi, Kang Rong, the family of 3 huddling on the carpet and the four servants standing in the room.
The laugh induced a chill down their spine with its insanity.
Time froze to a crystal of dark drop when all the occupants of the room heard Jae Hoon's maniacal scream with a vengeful madness of doom.
"HE IS COMING!"
