xvi. Lightbringer and Endeavor pt. II
As Best Jeanist returned, he watched as the big, burly man swapped the girl from being on his shoulders, to now holding her piggyback style.
"Here, these should work. Might I ask, who's going to take care of her?" The man questioned, handing the hero her clothing.
"Me." Was all that was said as he left the Agency.
"Bai bai Jeanist!" [L/n] proclaimed happily as she and Endeavor left the building.
As the two were walking, the young girl hiccuped, and then she screamed.
"Ahh!" She cried, her body emitting a horrific light and giving off a treacherous heat. The man immediately pulled her around to his front side and held her tight. He felt as if he too, had been transported back in time. To the days when she couldn't control her Quirk at all, and he was the only person she could be around.
It burned him, but only a little. Her Sun wasn't as strong back then, but to any human, they could still go blind and suffer horrendous burns.
"E-Emji, it bu'ns!" The girl sobbed, looking up at the man who hated what he saw.
The whites of her eyes were red, making it obvious that she was blinding and burning her own eyes.
"Shh, it's okay." He spoke softly, seeming like an entirely different person. "It'll be over soon enough." He placed one hand against the back of her head, pushing it gently against his chest while rubbing her back. Guess we're going home now. This'll be just great explaining to the kids. Especially Shoto.
Arriving to his home, it was obvious that Shoto Todoroki had been watching the news. The boy had been waiting at the door.
"Lightbringer?" He asked, his eyes immediately diverting as to not blind himself. I get to watch my dictator and emotionless father attempt to baby Lightbringer. I shouldn't be so excited about something like this, but I am.
"Shoto, [L/n] can't control her Quirk at this age." He stated sternly. "And you haven't worked on your left half enough to be able to stay around her. So don't." His words were harsh, but the boy could tell they were honest.
The man walked into his training room, locking the door behind himself. By the time they were in there, her Quirk was still active, but she was asleep. Damn, I forgot all about the pain of it.
Once in there, he removed her from her oversized hero costume she was swaddled in and began mentally apologizing for seeing her nude, even in these circumstances. He placed her in new clothing, clothing that wouldn't disintegrate when her Quirk is activated.
He kept her in his lap, the man sitting cross-legged on the floor. If he were to set her on the floor, she'd burn her way through the floor and into the actual Earth.
Aizawa and Yamada had made the decision to go to the Todoroki household and check on the young girl. Kayama would've gone, but she had too many papers to take care of. And while Yamada and Aizawa did as well, they chose this option instead.
"I can't believe [L/n] took the hit for him." Yamada spoke up, shaking his head. "Or rather, I can believe her taking the hit. I can't believe he's actually taking care of her."
"As much as I hate to say it, it's only logical. He's the only one who can." Yamada had to think a moment before remembering. It was common knowledge her Quirk was devastating, it wasn't common knowledge however, the difficulties she had with her Quirk prior to attending UA.
"I don't know how she lives with herself some days." Yamada admitted, Aizawa somewhat glaring at him from the side.
"Sensitive topic, don't bring it up. At least not around her." His voice was as monotone as ever, but his eyes spoke volumes.
As the two approached the front door to the Todoroki household, they heard an inhuman screech.
"Fuyumi!" Shoto Todoroki.
"I said don't look!" Enji Todoroki.
"My eyes!" Fuyumi Todoroki.
Aizawa and Yamada looked at one another, blinking a few times before approaching, and knocking on the door. Moments later, it was answered.
"Oh, Aizawa Sensei, Yamada Sensei." Shoto spoke, opening the door for them to come in. I used to think Bakugou was around Lightbringer all the time. I guess it's my turn now.
"We just came to check on Lightbringer." Aizawa spoke emotionlessly.
"Um, miss, are you alright!?" Yamada asked, extra loud for seemingly no reason.
"Oh, uh, I'm perfectly fine!" Fuyumi answered, rubbing her eyes.
"Did you look at her?" Aizawa asked, though he already knew the answer. The woman nodded in response.
"Where is she?" Shoto motioned towards the training room doors, which is where the teacher assumed Enji would be as well.
The two teachers approached, Yamada being the one to knock on the door. "Is it safe?" Aizawa prompted.
"For now."
The two walked in, mentally baffled to see such a sight.
The conscious, young Lightbringer and Endeavor were playing Patty Cake Patty Cake Baker's Man.
Yamada couldn't help but to burst out in, obnoxiously, loud laughter. Aizawa on the other hand, well, he just stood there, glad to see she was okay, even if she was now four years old.
Hearing new noises, [L/n] turned and looked at the two new people. Her eyes glistened as they locked onto Aizawa. She thrusted her finger at the insomniac while looking at Enji Todoroki.
"Emji! Emji! Is t'at the man wit' cats who carries a yewwow sweeping bag around wit' him? The one who never s'ows any emotion whatsoever, and he's the defini'ion of tal'ing to a bwick wall ha'f the time? But a'so the man, as weird and dumb as he may sound, ca'es fo' me more than he'll ever a'mit?"
Yamada's body was on the floor, laughing so hard he couldn't breathe whatsoever.
And Shoto Todoroki, who had been eavesdropping the whole time, choked on air. Pfft!
Eraserhead and Endeavor locked eyes, and in that moment, the latter answered as honestly and simply as ever. "Yes."
The insomniac's eyes had never been so narrow in his life, his glare never so sharp. Every ounce of his existence was focused on trying to not strangle Endeavor.
He sighed. "Well I'm just glad to see she's at least functioning, despite being a four year old. Take care of her." The man turned around to leave, and as he and the wheezing Yamada stepped foot out of the training room, Aizawa could've swore he heard him say something under his breath.
"I will, because you obviously can't."
"What was that?" Aizawa challenged, sure that he heard those specific words come from the Pro Heroes mouth.
"I will. Because you, Eraserhead, cannot."
Shoto Todoroki was reeling. He was getting bored and irritated over his own family drama. But this? This was exciting!
"Endeavor, I don't know if you're trying to start something here, but I suggest you don't. Your feud is supposed to be with All Might. Leave me out of it, and leave her out of it." His eyes narrowed once more, making his point crystal clear.
"I'm not starting anything, Eraserhead. I'm speaking factually, something you do all the time. As well as logically, which is something you are." The tension was becoming so thick Shoto could cut it with a butter knife, which he would if he had one on him.
Lightbringer's eyes were flashing back and fourth between the two men, not quite understanding what was going on and why they seemed on edge all of a sudden.
"You're trying to start a fight, Endeavor, which is the height of irrationality right now. I don't know everything that went on between you two, and it's not my business. But starting something with me is senseless." He stated, Yamada standing aside the young Todoroki, both watching with amusement, though the amusement wasn't noticeable on Shoto's face.
"Tell me, Eraserhead, if her Quirk were to go out of control during a mission, what would you do? You can't stop it, and you can't withstand it either. You and your Quirk do nothing but hold her back and put limiters on someone who doesn't deserve to be limited." Both men were getting into it, Endeavor who had plenty of things to say that he had been holding in for awhile, and Eraserhead who wasn't having his bull.
"Her Quirk won't go out of control, she's long past that." The insomniac stated flatly, and beneath all his baggy clothing, his body was tense. No one ever got to him, but this topic, his words, they were.
"Her Quirk gets stronger and stronger everyday, you can't tell me you haven't noticed it. You're with her every single day, or so it seems." He paused, his eyes locked on the fellow heroes angry, red eyes.
"You're a liability, Shouta Aizawa."
The painful silence that followed was beyond unnerving.
Shoto Todoroki, who had been thriving in the drama, now felt a certain amount of pain. Because, to an extent, his father was right.
Hizashi Yamada, who had been enjoying watching his friend actually become bothered, was now rather angry at the Pro Heroes words.
[F/n] [L/n] didn't quite understand what was going on, but she could tell that it was a tense situation and it made her uncomfortable.
Fuyumi approached the young girl, but was stopped by her father when she attempted to pick her up.
"Her Quirk will hurt you."
"Oh really? I'd rather suffer burns than make her have to sit here and listen to you two." Her voice was stern as she lifted up the [e/c] eyed girl and left the room.
