vi. Pushing Even Further

The last thing Aizawa expected when he woke up was to have someone else's arms wrapped around his body. That and to be in his bed when he could've swore he fell asleep on his couch. Being the unbothered King he is, the insomniac let out a bit of a sigh before moving his head slowly and gently to see who was hugging him.

His first and best guess was Yamada, but his first and best guess was incorrect. His red, tired, narrow eyes narrowed even further as he observed who's body was next to his, and even hugging his.

"Idiot, you didn't have to carry me." Rolling out of [L/n]'s lose hold, he sat up and got out of his bed before turning back to make sure she was still asleep before he slowly managed to take off his lounge clothes and proceeded to put on his hero costume. It was only midway through his slow, agonizing process of changing clothes without either functioning arm that he realized she had seen him practically naked just the night before and checking to see if she was still asleep was a pointless act.

After he managed to put on his hero costume he looked around for his capture scarf, only to not find it. After knocking something over, the noise woke up [L/n] who, in a panic, activated her Quirk, something she had gotten used to doing after the numerous times villains decided to kidnap her for no good reason, and nearly blinded Aizawa in the process.

"Oh, sorry!" [L/n] quickly apologized, stopping her Quirk and putting her hands together and bowing apologetically on the mans bed, the man who was blinking repeatedly until the flashes of red light would leave his vision.

"Don't worry about it, just go back to bed." The insomniac said before leaving his bedroom and soon finding his capture scarf. The girl sat up and tilted her head. "Well, he didn't kill me, that's a relief." Getting out of the mans bed she went to the livingroom and saw that he was about to leave.

"You could at least wait for me." [L/n] jokingly pouted, Aizawa rolling his eyes.

"I said to go back to bed, all your moving around is most likely just opening up wounds that haven't had time to seal up yet."

"You're not my dad, Shouta. Besides, I want to see the kiddos and show everyone that I haven't been bitten in half." She spoke rather cheerfully with a grin on her face.

"How the fuck are you so awake and cheerful this early in the morning?" Aizawa asked, voice raspy and a bit dry. "Whatever, just hurry up, I won't wait for too long."

"Yay- wait, I don't even have anything to change into." [L/n] spoke with a nervous chuckle, scratching the back of her neck gently.

"Just wear what you have on, I sent your costume to get fixed so it should be ready by today or tomorrow. Now let's go." [L/n] nodded and made her way towards Aizawa and the two left, walking towards U.A.

"How are you feeling?" Aizawa managed to ask before letting out a yawn.

"I'm doing fine considering. I feel bad for worrying everyone though." [L/n] answered honestly, a more somber smile on her face as compared to her previously cheerful one. "I'm usually able to handle myself but against that Nomu, well, I would've gotten myself bit in half if All Might hadn't shown up."

"That's not on you, who we faced was an incredibly strong enemy, we don't even know where they are now." Aizawa then let out a sigh. "Besides, for the Nomu to be more combat based while both you and I are not, we were at a disadvantage, no matter how you look at it." Aizawa tried to reassure, though his slightly emotionless and dead voice wasn't the most reassuring to hear.

The two heroes continued to walk in silence, a few people taking note of the fact that Lightbringer was wearing a black t-shirt that was a bit too big, baggy black pants that were also a bit too big and being held up loosely by a belt that also wasn't hers, and a pair of high tops rather than her hero costume. Rather than anyone whispering or spreading odd rumors, the eyes that fell upon Eraserhead and Lightbringer were pained ones.

Pained from knowing just what happened to them, the reports that had been blasted through television and radio describing what happened in vivid detail. If the reports weren't enough, just watching as the two walked down the street covered in bandages from head to toe, the only visible part of Aizawa being his eyes and [L/n]'s face, minus her forehead, was proof alone of just how much had occurred.

The two heroes made it to U.A. and Aizawa's classroom, [L/n] knowing that she'd be spending the day at U.A. since she was truly unable to engage in any sort of battle- unless she had to of course.

"I need you to do me a favor." The insomniac spoke rather plainly, [L/n] looking at him with curious eyes. "Get me in that sleeping bag, all they're gonna do is talk about their training today and I don't feel like teaching." The woman held back a bit of a laugh. "Alright."

Students began to flood the classroom, seeing that both Aizawa and [L/n] were standing at the front of the classroom rather than just Aizawa. After a few minutes as all the students settled, words being whispered about the two teachers standing at the head of the classroom, Aizawa took a breath.

"Good morning class. Because I'm tired and the Sports Festival is fast approaching, I'll allow you all to talk about your training today, but don't get used to it. I'll just make tomorrow twice as hard." With those words being spoke, [L/n] then helped the insomniac to get into his signature yellow sleeping bag.

"Oi Lightbringer, you look like shit." Bakugou yelled.

"And you act like shit." She retaliated with the kindest smile and voice in the world. To say the class lost their mind after that would be an understatement. "Now keep it down, you can talk about your training but don't start yelling, please." With those gentle words, she looked down at Aizawa who had already managed to fall asleep.

While the students talked about their training, there was the occasional conversation about how Aizawa and [L/n] were doing. For Asui, Midoriya, and Mineta who watched what happened to them, and Bakugou who was the one to carry [L/n]'s body to the main group, the four of them were surprised when Aizawa showed up the day before, and now to see [L/n] up and moving so freely.

"Bakugou, come with me." [L/n] commanded out of nearly nowhere. "And if you all get loud and wake up Eraser while I'm gone, be weary, because I won't be here to calm him down." Yet again, her gentle smile and kind voice was contradictory to her words. Bakugou did as he was told, for once, and followed the woman as she left the classroom and made her way outside.

"Oi, where the hell are we going?" The pomeranian barked, [L/n] just continuing to walk freely with a smile on her face until she got to a more open area on school grounds.

"So, I said I'd meet with you after school, but that didn't get to happen because I was nommed on by the abomination known as Nomu." She began, Bakugou simply looking at the woman stupidly. "You're training for the Sports Festival, correct?"

"Of fucking course I am!"

"And this is why I brought us out here, mainly for you being loud, but training purposes as well. Your Quirk, Explosion, occurs when you sweat nitroglycerin and ignite it within your palms, correct?" [L/n] brought up, Bakugou slowly beginning to understand where she was going with this.

"You've only sweat so much, so your power has only been able to go so far. Getting straight to the point, using the heat from my Sun, I'm going to make you push your Quirk even further, to show you just how far it can go." [L/n] stated, her usual cheery demeanor and style now a bit more calm and genuine.

"What's up with you being so cal-"

"I'm a teacher, too, not just some hero. It's my job as the school's Special Quirk Trainer to help students like you go even further beyond, to push you past your breaking point. So, if you think this cheerful hero is gonna go easy on you, well, you're doomed." She spoke with the brightest of smiles, though the intentions behind her voice was clear.

"Shouldn't you not be using your Quirk or some shit-" He didn't have the chance to finish his statement as her body illuminated. The nitroglycerin in his palms began to gather quicker than normal. She halted, if only for a moment to throw her sunglasses at him so that he wouldn't be blinded. Regular sunglasses wouldn't have any effect, but the ones she wore and her headpiece were specifically designed.

"And to further this because your Quirk is already strong and you do well with it, you're going to need to attack me, getting closer to the heat source. Which will also make your explosions more powerful, but will also take up more energy." [L/n] explained, forgetting she was in Aizawa's clothing rather than her hero costume, which had currently resulted in the shirt and pants to slowly but surely become ash.

"Ha, you think I can't handle that!?" With his strong declaration, Bakugou blasted himself towards [L/n], having to squint as his body got closer and then aimed both palms at her before setting off two explosions, immediately feeling a bit of recoil from how strong his own blasts were.

"Stronger, but not strong enough. The pain in your arms will mean nothing if you can't even hit me once."

"What'd you just say!?" Again, he blasted towards her and set off two more explosions, the recoil only getting stronger the more he was sweating.

"You're aiming for the top, right? How can you be at the top if you can't hit a teacher who already can't fight you?" She challenged, doing everything she could to smack Bakugou's buttons.

"Are you seriously asking me to fight you!?" And so he blasted forward once more, the explosion and recoil getting stronger. His arms hurt tremendously, but his mind was focused solely on landing a hit on Lightbringer. This went on for quite some time.

Meanwhile, all of Class 1-A was watching through the classroom window, Aizawa included, who was standing in his sleeping bag, too unbothered to get out of it.

"You have less than five minutes before I decide to look and see if my, or well, Erasers clothes have been reduced to ash and it turns out I'm naked underneath all this light."

"Oh would you shut the fuck up already!?" And again he went, stronger blast, stronger explosions, stronger recoil.

"Maybe if you focused on your actions more than the words "hell", "shit", and "fuck" you'd get somewhere."

"What's your fucki-"

"Time's up." Halting her Quirk and looking down, the hero chuckled nervously. "I look worse than Midnight's debut days." Her eyes then met the angry Bakugou's, and of course, she gave him the kindest of smiles. "We'll try again tomorrow, get your head out of your ass please." With the kindest of tones, she turned around and made her way back towards the building in search of Midnight, who she'd be borrowing clothes from for the time being.

"My fucking arms!"

Hours later as the school day came to a close, [L/n] had been very uncomfortable since the morning when she had to borrow Midnight's backup hero suit, which was a complete replica of the one she currently wore.

"Heh, I really went from being the Unrated, Unranked Hero to another version of the R-Rated Hero real quick." [L/n] spoke with a bit of a chuckle as she and Aizawa walked down the halls to get some food, neither eating during lunch time.

"Aizawa, [L/n]!" The two heroes turned around, now facing All Might, who scanned both of their bodies as they faced him. "I never got to apologize for a few days ago." He spoke, bowing to the two bandaged heroes in front of him.

With a smile on her face, [L/n] reached an arm out, placing her hand on the Pro Heroes chin and lifting his head up. "You have no reason to apologize, Toshinori, you did what any hero would do. Plus, in the end, you still showed up and saved the day! Besides, we're heroes too, and putting our lives on the line is our job as well!" That was when Yagi understood, the times he had overheard Aizawa talk about her childish, yet kind and calming demeanor, and how it immediately could bring people at ease and make their hearts warm.

He understood that now. Regardless, he let out a slight sigh and smiled at the two before him. "Either way, I am sorry."

"Don't apologize All Might, even if it was the height of irrationality, you did what you had to. Just try and remember that you are a U.A. teacher and have responsibilities within these gates, not just outside them." With Aizawa's words, Yagi nodded, unable to really say anything else on the subject. The three then began to walk together to get lunch, which would be their dinner at this point.

"So, student wise, what are your thoughts so far?" Yagi brought up, Aizawa looking at [L/n] as he didn't feel like speaking yet.

"Yuuga Aoyama, Ochako Uraraka, Shouto Todoroki, and Katsuki Bakugou. Those four stand out to me the most personally. I did some training with Bakugou today, he's a very angry individual, but his main goal to be the top hero drives him firmly. He's strong, but his anger does get in the way." [L/n] answered, both Aizawa and Yagi nodding in agreement.

"He seems to harbor a hatred towards Midoriya." Aizawa added on, [L/n] and Yagi nodding in agreement.

After a brief conversation about the students, the group ate before heading their separate ways, well, mostly. While All Might left, Aizawa and [L/n] stayed together.

"Come on, your hero costumes should be ready. I told them to drop them off back in the classroom." Aizawa spoke, standing up from the table before making his way back towards his classroom.

"Costumes? Plural?" [L/n] asked, tilting her head and immediately regretting it as it caused her pain.

"Yes, but don't think much of it. I know you've never been fond of using support items, asides the wheels on your boots, but I asked them to make a second with a few things that I thought of." While Aizawa's voice was dull, the words made his partner smile.

"Aw, thanks Shouta. Who know? Maybe I'll really love 'em!"

"You've despised using support items for as long as I've known you."

"Well, yeah." [L/n] took in a breath as the two walked into his classroom. "But look at me Shouta, I just got my ass handed to me on a silver platter." She spoke with a somber smile and chuckle. "I'm a hero, I'm supposed to make everyone else feel safe, not make them worry about me. That includes you."

Aizawa stayed silent after that before simply motioning towards her costume, with his head of course, and she went and looked at the two. One was just the same as her previous one, while the other was altered and had a few support items laying on top of it.

"I'll go put this on!" [L/n] practically chirped. "It'll be nice to finally get out of Midnight's hero costume." With the altered hero costume in hand, as well as the support items, she made her way to the schools bathroom to change.

"Oh, Eraserhead!" Midnight cooed, walking into the teachers room. "So, did you like what you saw? I bet you looked at Lightbringer all day-"

"You could've given her other clothes, couldn't you?" He asked plainly, looking at the hero who was staring at him with a weird, devilish look in her eyes.

"Of course I could've, but I figured it would give you something nice to look at and for her to get some air in clothing that wasn't yours. Besides, you two've been partners since high school, you can't tell me nothing's gone on between you two." Midnight teased, leaning forwards on a desk as she looked at the insomniac. "Come on, something must've gone down between you two at least once."

"Nope."

"Don't lie to me Eraser. What about that one time in Kamino? Do you not count that?" She asked curiously.

"What happened in Kamino, stays in Kamino. Besides, it was caused by someone elses Quirk, it wasn't of our desires." Aizawa answered simply, Kayama sighing.

"Look, I get it, you're Eraserhead, a great teacher and a great hero, and you're quite serious. But don't you think you should lighten up a bit and have fun, just once? C'mon, [L/n] is a literal bundle of joy and smiles, you should take some lessons from her!" Kayama cheered, loving her own idea.

"After the USJ incident we don't have time for tha—"

"That's exactly why you should! You're so pent up after that attack, and I get it. Your students got attacked, Thirteen got attacked, and you and Lightbringer got attacked, but in the end, you're all okay! Look, I can't make you do anything, but at least give it a thought." With that, Kayama stood up properly and left.

The man let out a slight sigh. What happened in Kamino, stays in Kamino.

"Shouta, I'm back!" [L/n] proclaimed with a soft smile as she walked back into his classroom in the hero costume and support items that Aizawa suggested and had made.

It was quite different than what she usually wore, but the similarities were still there. With baggy black pants that tucked into black boots with wheels on the bottom, though the boots now seemed a bit more structured and strong, a black bikini-esq top while a luminescent fishnet covered all of her skin from her waist to her neck, hands, and fingers included, a black mask that currently hung around her neck, shaded goggles atop her head. Then there were the black gloves that only went up to cover her ring and pinky finger and a small pole hanging from a belt loop on her waist.

"A brief description since I didn't explain it earlier. Sadly, there's still nothing that can be done about the intensity and distribution of your Quirk. The mask is just a precautionary, the structured boots are because you use your legs more often than not, the pole can turn into a naginata so you can fight more, and the gloves will help you wield it easier." Aizawa explained plainly. "And just like before, each piece is compromised with strands of your DNA so your Quirk won't burn through it."

It wasn't until he stopped talking that he saw a truly joyful and appreciative smile on the heroes face, who surprisingly to him, wrapped her arms around him and embraced him in a gentle hug. She didn't want to hug her partner too tightly seeing as they were both still injured, but [L/n] just couldn't help it.

"Thank you, Shouta. I love it."

And just like that, two weeks passed by and well, what happened in Kamino stayed in Kamino.
