Welcome Back, Doll

"So, what are you doing here? Back in London?" I ask looking at my long time friend.

"I should be asking you the same, kitten." He smiled and looked out the window. "What's your case now?"

"Someone killed Olivia yesterday," he turned to look at me.

"Ouch, how's your little heart feeling?" He chuckles but I shut him up.

"Anyways," I pull out the card from my coat. "The murderer wants to talk to me tomorrow night."

He looks up; extending his arm to grab the card. He reads it and hands it back. "Are you going?" His voice sounds dull and bored.

"Of course, I want to kill that son of a bitch." I stuff the card back in my coat pocket.

"Ooh feisty. Lily, I understand your anger, but can I try something before you end him? You know, out of boredom." He rolls his eyes, softening them to look like puppy eyes.

"Shoot." I turn to look back at him. He chuckles again.

"You know I like to have more fun than just shooting right?" I facepalm, you are so lucky that I care about you, you asshat.

He just smiles and taps the driver's shoulder. He stops and we exit the car, outside was cold and windy. The wind nips at my pink dusted nose and cheeks, sweeping away any warmth I had left. He closes the door and knocks on the car. After a few seconds, it zooms past us and leaves our line of sight. He just smiles and places a hand on my shoulder. "Shall we begin?"

"Begin what?" I look up at him, his face showing nothing but boredom.

"You know exactly," he looks around at the cameras posted on the walls of apartment complexes, "but we mustn't speak out here. Let's go inside an plan out the mission."

"But isn't it against -," I speak but he just shushes me.

"Not if they catch you. Besides, I'll take care of security footages and everything, you don't have to worry. After all, I am the great Jim Moriarty, friend and partner in crime with the marvelous Lily Medel."

"Jim, I work at Scotland Yard. I don't think I can do any more... dirty work. Besides murd-" He shushes me with a push of his finger to my lips.

"I don't think we want any unexpected guests to know your former self. Let's go inside shall we?" He removes his finger and points to a manor behind him.

The manor's walls were made of a rough stone pattern and were furnished with white framed windows. The patio was also made of stone and plants were growing around the house, wrapping around the ledge of the windows and white wooden fence near the door.

We walk up the stairs but stop at the door, a phone beeps and I stare at Jim. "Not mine," he says, raising his arms pleading innocent.

"Sorry," I reach inside and take out my phone, "it's my brother, he's asking for me." Jim rolls his eyes and grabs my phone.

"Hey!" I yell and attempt to reach for my phone.

"It'll jut be... a minute now." He types in a series of keys and presses send. "Done," he smiles and passes me my phone.

"What did you say?" I frantically unlock my phone and pull up the prior text.

Lily, where are you? -JW

I'm staying over at a friend's house. Won't be back until a few. -LMW

I sigh and put the phone back in my pocket, he just stands there and smiles, "Let's go inside, I think we can make a small plan for this murderer of 'hearts'."

He pouts opening the door. This was going to be a long night.

John's P.O.V

I paced through the living room, avoiding random papers and books that were being flung by Sherlock.

"Do you have any idea who it is?" I asked, pulling at my cuffs.

"Oh, but I do John. I just need to find who he is and-" Sherlock stops and drops the book he was holding. "No! That doesn't make sense! He could have- no, no, NO!"

Sherlock hastily walks to my laptop and opens a window. His fingers pressing at the keys at super sonic speed. "Sherlock you are going to brake my laptop. Now, can you help me find my bloody sister?!"

"And why should I?" Sherlock snares at me, his eyes never leaving the screen.

"Because I know who the murderer is." Lily's voice echoed through the living room. I turned to look at the door but she wasn't there. Odd.

"Oi! I'm over here!" Sherlock and I both turn to look at the window sill. "Ello!" She smiles and rests her head on the window's frame.

"What is she doing here, John?" Sherlock closes the laptop and crosses his arms in front of his chest.

"I'm here to help on the case-"

"We don't need help."

"Well, you certainly don't, but Watson and Lestrade do." She smiled as she jumped off the window sill and brushed off her coat. Lily flipped up her collar and patted her coat down.

"Oh, that idiot took it." She frowned but then grinned. "I still have this one-"

"Woah!" I step back as she pulls a revolver out of her boot.

"What? I need it for protection. I can't be wondering off into the streets of London by myself."

I was startled, "Lily, hold on."

"Yes, dearest brother?" She said batting her eyelashes.

"Tell us everything from the beginning, maybe then we can help-" she cut me off.

"No can do."

"And why not?" I asked walking up to her. Her hands became fidgety as well as her body language.

"Well um..."

"For hell's sake, she's hiding something from us John!" Sherlock roared as he stood up, throwing his arms up in a fit.

"John, calm your child down please." Lily put the revolver back in it's hoister, her gaze becoming cold and dull. "Look, I know who he is and I bloody won't say how-"

"Lily please, Sherlock won't shut up until you tell us how."

"He's right you know." Sherlock paced around the room until he plopped down on the soft, his dark curls bouncing and bow lips in a straight line.

"I-I," her voice cracked and her eyes became glazed with tears. She tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"This is part of a cold case back at Ireland, I still worked for Lestrade and were partners at the time," she rested a hand on her hip, "the victims were both genders, different ages, and a certain position in the military. I knew two people: Corporal Sonther and Lieutenant Faustus, the only reason you guys couldn't connect the murders were because of their sexuality. That of course won't be on their profiles."

"So the killer was former military personnel and a homophobe?" I asked, sitting on a sofa across from her.

"Yes, their were six other victims too. Lestrade and I did some research and turns out they were all in the same quadrant as me- shit I wasn't supposed to say that." Lily looked up at me, I was surprised honestly.

"You, you were part of the military?" I stood up from the sofa. "How come you never told me?"

"It never came up, it's not important either way-"

"Not important! Bloody hell, you went to war and you didn't tell us!" I yelled, her brown eyes softened but became cold within a second.

"So it was okay for you to go to Afghanistan but not me?" Her hands balled up into fists and her expression became sour.

"You know, it hasn't been an easy life after war and knowing your best friend and girlfriend have been killed! I've been struggling John, I have a bloody scar that reminds me everyday of a mistake I've made and a brother who can understand the pain, yet..." She sighed, turning around to look at Sherlock.

"I think I've explained plenty, Sherlock you can explain the rest." Lily walked up to the window and spoke to something on her wrist.

"Goodnight boys. I'll see you guys around, if I even turn up alive. Also, Sherly? Tell Molly that our date's postponed for another day." And with that she jumped out the window. Again.

I ran to the window and saw her fall onto a man's arms and run down the street. People murmured and stared at me as well as where they were heading off to. She looked hurt and I probably stepped over that wound, reopening it again.

Sherlock smiled lightly and stood up, he walked over to the door and put on his coat and scarf. "You're sister's a mystery, John."

"What are you saying?" I threw on my jacket and walked downstairs.

"She's unsolvable John, and I'm planning on cracking this case." He rushed out hailing a cab. "Come along Watson!"
