chapter two
Ocean Eyes
THE NEXT AWFUL TEEN PLACE SABRINA DREADED was the cafeteria. The food was gross, thanks to the small 2% of students that were allergic to basically everything, it smelled like sweat and teen angst, plus, there was bullies left and right.
"Who's turn is it to FaceTime CJ?" Claudia asked as she looked at Aisha and Sabrina. The Johnson boy moved away awhile ago but, he always managed to be able to visit the girls whenever he could.
"I'll do it." Sabrina took out her phone and called before propping it against the wall that was connected to the table.
"You guys are not going to believe this!" CJ yelled as soon as he picked up.
The sounds of fighting started sounding off in the background and all the girls got closer to the screen in order to see what was going on.
"Are you getting into a fight?" Aisha asked, confused on why he would even answer the phone.
"No." CJ stood on top of one of the lunch tables. "Aisha, Claudia, you know how I said muscle guy looked familiar?"
"Yeah." The two girls said in unison.
"Wait, you guys talk about him when i'm not around?" Sabrina furrowed her eyebrows.
"Duh." The three friends said at the same time, kinda catching the LaRusso girl off guard.
"Anyways, that's not the point, the point is he goes to my school." CJ pointed the camera in the direction of the fight. "...and he's the one fighting."
"What!?" Sabrina snatched her phone from the wall and held it in her hands. "What do you mean he's fighting? What happened?"
"The security guard found some drugs on him, and now they are fighting, it's so awesome." The Johnson boy said enthusiastically.
The LaRusso girl couldn't believe it, the guy of her dreams steals things, does drugs, and fights authority figures. Her dad would literally never approve. What was she thinking? She didn't like him like that. Or maybe she did? She didn't even know his real name, it wasn't possible to like him. wasn't it?
"Okay, i'm hanging up now, bye." Sabrina pressed the hang up button and slammed her phone down on the table.
"What'd you do that for!? It was just starting to get interesting." Claudia said, a slight smile on her face.
"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up Claudia." The LaRusso girl rolled her eyes and sighed before looking at Aisha who had a frown on her face. "What is it, Ish?"
"It's just Sams friends, they are pointing over here and laughing." The young teen looked down at her feet and sighed.
"Don't worry, i'm sure she's defending us right now." Sabrina gave Claudia and Aisha a reassuring smile, hoping she was right.
These days though, she never really knew.
SABRINA WAS TOO PRIDEFUL TO SAY IT but, she was lost. The girl was attempting to ride her bike from Claudia's house, over to her place because her parents were at a party at the country club but, somewhere along her way the girls phone died, and the gps with it.
"Hey, Sabrina!" Someone yelled behind her, and let's be honest, she was scared out of her mind. The LaRusso girl sped up the pace of her bike but felt someone grabbing onto the back of, slowing her down slightly.
"What the-" She stepped on the brakes quickly and the boy flew forward off his skateboard and onto the ground. "Shit, i'm sorry."
The LaRusso girl got off her bike and ran over to him, noticing that it was Herman.
"That wasn't very nice." The boy chuckled as he sat up in place.
"I didn't know it was you, i'm really sorry." Sabrina sighed and helped him up to his feet. "You suck at skateboarding by the way."
"You know, we really have to stop running into each other." Herman chuckled. "Especially since you don't know my real name."
"I'm hurt." Sabrina gasped and put her hand on her chest. "You don't like spending time with me, Herman?"
"That joke is terrible." The green eyed boy laughed and picked up his skateboard. "Where are you heading?"
"Home? Hopefully, i'm probably not going in the right direction." The LaRusso girl picked up her bike and started walking with it, the other teen walking by her side.
"Well, where do you live?" He asked, hoping to help her with directions.
"Encino." The girl replied, looking down at the broken sidewalk beneath her feet.
"Oh, so you are not only rich but you are super rich." He joked. "I can take you half way there if it helps, it's almost dark and you shouldn't be on your own out here."
"Hm, who knew the pickpocket was such a gentleman." Sabrina laughed and continued to walk with the boy, their shoulders brushing up against each other every few seconds.
"The pickpocket picks pockets so that he can eat food, I wouldn't expect you to understand." He shook his head, a smile on his face. "I bet you have a perfect life, nice house, perfect family, all the friends you could ask for, tons of guys hitting on you all the time—"
"Not exactly." The LaRusso girl said, stopping him from continuing on. "Those friends you seen at the mall are the only friends I have and guys most certainly do not hit on me."
"Don't speak for us all." The green eyed boy shrugged.
"What is that even supposed to mean?" Sabrina couldn't help herself from smiling, it was quite literally bound to happen around him.
"If you don't know, there is definitely people hitting on you without you even realizing it." The two stopped at the end of the sidewalk, in front of a busy street. "We have to cross."
"What are you waiting for, then? Are we going to hold hands like little kids?" The LaRusso girl asked teasingly.
"I have no objections to that." The green eyed boy intertwined his fingers with hers and the two quickly crossed the street with her bike and his skateboard in hand.
"Looks like little kids have it better than the rest of us." Sabrina smiled slightly, looking down at their hands before she pulled hers away. "I think that it's fine I know your name now."
"No it's not, that ruins the joke." Herman smiled mischievously. "I have to go to that store over there but all you have to do is walk five minutes that way and you'll be in the safe neighborhood. See you around, Sabrina."
The LaRusso girl narrowed her eyes at the boy, he used her own words against her.
"Fine, i'll see you around, Herman." She got on her bike and followed his directions, and before long she was at home.
Thinking about his ocean colored eyes.
